Here's the recording from our 2-hour set at the 2023 Vocal Booth Weekender. This year we played a Friday poolside set in the Villajoyosa sunshine. Jamie Love, Paul Griff and Richie Barthez put together a playlist of some of our favourite downtempo soul, funk, and general sleaze. We hope you enjoy! This year's weekender, like every Vocal Booth, was an epic event. Great people in a perfect place! For more about 'VB' go to www.vocalboothweekender.com Please like share and subscribe. This mix was heading in the "for my ears only" box as I didn't get a warm fuzzy at the end of the show. I wasn't happy with the flow and there were a couple of key clashes that made my bum whistle that little bit higher. However my partner fell in love with it over the following weekend. She pleaded with me to release it, "it needs to be heard" she said. I continued to listen to it over and over and as is usually the case it grew on me.At the same time I played a set at a cool swanky rooftop pool club in Sydney and used a bunch of the tracks from the mix. This time I was very happy with how it flowed and so I had managed to scratch that itch. As a result I'm excited to get this original mix out as it is quite different to the Boogie @ Ivy session.I am always looking for feedback (not that I get much) and would love to know whether you think I should have kept this mix in the box or not. Don't worry I won't get upset, but it is nice to hear from others, and I respect your judgement, I mean some of you have been on this journey for over fifteen years now!!! That blows my mind, I'll be honest.I'm starting to put on regular events in Sydney, so any of you down here can come out and dance to this music with us. I'm hoping to build a nice little community of people that appreciate this range of dance music, maybe even educate the little ones about life beyond Tech House!Next event - Stanley's on Stanley - 28th October 6-12am. It's free and I'll be joined by DJ Nycks from Underground Jack and Birmingham's finest Mr Gary Ward of Body People fame. I believe in a fewer DJ's with more time policy. It's how it used to be, and it worked better than the one hour rodeo we have these days. Give us time to settle in and we'll take you on a journey. As always a HUGE thank you to everyone that joins me for the live show on Pressure (Alternate Thursday's 12-2pm UK). Special shout out to the chatroom crew, you know who you are.Tracklisting:1: Kx9000 - A Kiss (Plage 84 Remix)2: Brendan Moeller - On The Fly3: Elements Of Life - Into My Life (Dub Mix)4: Brooklyn Baby - For The Soul5: Afefe Iku - 8236: Brooklyn Baby - NYC7: Maurice Joshua, DeiSelah - Filled With Love8: gome - Elevator Man (Mike Dunn Blackball Remix)9: Matthieu Faubourg - Dream Frequencies10: Raven Maize, Joey Negro - The Real Life (David Penn Extended Remix)11: Louie Vega - Feel So Right ft Honey Dijon (Tedd Patterson Club Remix)12: Morttimer Snerd III - Here I Come13: Harrison BDP - Small Talk14: Grand High Priest - Jimmy Go Bomm (Grand High Priest Full Mix)15: Tartan - Cynical Gringo16: Matthieu Faubourg - Modern Music For Dreamers17: A-D-O-R - Young World (Stefano Ritteri)18: Danny Snowden - Energy19: Daniele Busciala, Muzikman Edition - Take Off20: Grace Bones - Back2love21: Genk - Lovin22: Sex-O-Sonique - I Thought It Was You (Full Intention Extended Remix)23: The Journey Men ft Anne-Marie Johnson - Wanna Be Down (Mikki Funk Vox Dub)24: Narf Zayd - Sol Saliente (Mijangos Latin House Remix)Enjoy!

I'm talking about people who were, who they were... BEFORE Chronic illness. People who ask you... what happened to you? Who you used to be. That kind of comment(s). These are NOT people who bare any kind of emotional support, or understanding. I am not referencing bad people. Who did bad things in the past. I am talking about people who live with and suffer from chronic illness... and the comments or lack of emotional support where you need it. However... You instead get ridiculed, insulted or made out to be nothing but a mere burden to others. Those "others" lack emotion and heart. So advice by experience? "Don't mind those kind of people." No matter what diagnosis... in general. The body changes with time. That is a fact. That is part of the process with chronic illness.
This one is long overdue a share, so here's Paul Griff's set from Vocal Booth Weekender 2022. This was a poolside set at the end of Friday's programming, starting off very chilled and downtempo and built up to a decent head bop tempo with some old favourites. Expect tracks from Dexter Wansel, Real to Reel, Maze, Bananarama, Change, Sherrick, COEO, Los Amigos Invisibles and more — "It was so good to be back at VB! You cant beat a poolside set. The timing got away from me so the last few tracks were a little rushed, but who cares when you're having so much fun in the sun at the start of October". Enjoy! www.bodypeople.co.uk www.facebook.com/bodyppl www.instagram.com/bodyppl ...

We recently stumbled across this recording of Phil Asher's set from our 5th Birthday, way back in 2009. Back then we were called Uber and this event in December of '09 was the first time we had Phil with us to headline. And it certainly wasn't the last. It was also the very first Vocal Booth Weekender Reunion. It seems fitting we share this for our milestone episode 50 of the podcast. A tribute to Phil Asher. We miss Phil and think about him often, and we felt we just had to share this recording with you to make sure it's out there for all to hear. Phil was a true kindhearted, loving, down-to-earth gent, as well as being a pioneering producer and legendary DJ. He influenced us in a big way, like he did for countless others, and we looked up to him as the legend he will always be. You can share memories, stories and your love for Phil on the Facebook tribute here. You can continue to support Phil's family on the official legacy website www.philasher.com. Passion not Fashion. Our podcast series continues with a sublime mix from Jamie Love for episode 49. Have a listen, give it a share and enjoy.
Megan Hadley is a nutrition therapist and the owner of Simple Nutrition, a nutrition counseling practice in Greensboro, NC, and founder of Fork the Food Rules, a membership for people who have decided not to diet. She believes that all bodies are good bodies and that from cake to kale, all foods are good foods. After helping hundreds of clients recover from diet culture, Megan knows that when women think less about food and body and more about what really matters to them, they begin to thrive in all areas of their life. Our conversation runs wide and far, as we do discuss how we got here. How is it that women's bodies are used to sell everything from cars and beer to sporting events and paper towels? And just how much is the diet industry making off all this damage to our collective psyche? Megan shares all about it, and it's a lot. It's like, mind-glowingly, let's-fly-to-Mars, kind of money. And it's being made off our belief that our bodies are not OK exactly the way they are. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL [YOUR FAVORITE BAD WORD GOES HERE]! We've been taught to hate the female body, and it's time to put an end to that. Find the full show notes at: https://sarahwalton.com/megan-hadley

This is the final part of our session at Yard & Beyond back in June. The sun was blazing, the place was full, the Curry was too spicy for us wimps, and one of the DJs was taking liberties with the Masters at Work back catalogue. Those tracks dont really get old though do they. Our next takeover at Yard & Beyond is on 31st July. Midday until 5pm. We hope you can join us. Get your ears round this episode, give is a share and play it loud.
Here's part 2 of the session we recorded at Yard and Beyond in Stourbridge recently. Paul and Richie pick things up, pulling random old and new tracks out of the proverbial wallet while getting stuck into free Curry Goat and Dumplings. Anyone got a wet wipe? Enjoy the session and let us know what you think.

After more than a year on DJ furlough we're back to knock the dust off and see if we can still mix a cake. This recording is from our recent takeover at Yard & Beyond in Stourbridge. A cracking outdoor Tiki Bar and Street Food venue tucked away down a side street off the high street. We played from midday until 5pm in the scorching sun and have split the session into three. We'll release part 2 and 3 in the upcoming weeks. Enjoy!

The last of our recordings from Cafe Artum, and it's a proper crate digging vinyl set from Jamie Love and Allgood&Biglove back to back. Enjoy!
Here's the opening set from Paul and Richie, recorded at Cafe Artum at the beginning of May. In between setting up, chatting, eating cake, trying to park the car and generally rushing around – the first hour was kinda cobbled together. A little rough and ready but the selection is still on point. As the day progressed, so did the music. We cant wait to share the rest of the sets with you. Enjoy! Here's an hour of music from Paul Griff. A selection of tracks put together without much thought or planning and mainly an excuse to play a few tracks that might not be played out ‘in-da-cluuurb'. Here's another top draw set from our Christmas party. This one was a little under prepared as Paul Griff had only gone up to the stage on time by a fluke while he searched for his drink. Richie had one track left but the 'ed 'oncho was set to go for a pre game dump. It wasn't to be, so he had to plat his legs for the duration of the set.... oh and his mrs came behind and nicked his drink mid set too. Nightmare!
Following Gillman Audio's opening set at our christmas party on 8th December; Jus Neil takes over to give us 75 minutes of pure fire! And if you love this set, we suggest you check out his set from this years Vocal Booth Weekender here https://www.mixcloud.com/vocalboothweekender/jus-neil-vb2018/favorites/
