Gloria Kison ist eine preisgekrönte Designerin, die lieber aussteigt, als sich verbiegt und heute Stressresilienz unterrichtet. Sie hat eine Laufbahn eingeschlagen, die man nicht plant, sondern spürt. Schon im Kommunikationsdesign-Studium an der Hochschule RheinMain wurde ihr klar, dass sich in der Branche vieles eher um Ego als um Eco dreht. Bei Scholz & Volkmer, wo sie bereits als Studentin arbeitete, entwickelte sie 2014 ihre Bachelorarbeit: das Kiezkaufhaus – ein Online-Marktplatz für lokale Händler mit nachhaltiger Same-Day-Lieferung per E-Bike. Das vielfach ausgezeichnete Projekt (u.a. Red Dot Design Award, ADC, DDC, UX Design Award, Deutscher Digital Award) hätte ihr den Weg in große Agenturen geöffnet. Doch Gloria entschied sich 2015 bewusst für einen anderen Kurs: selbstständig, unabhängig, mit Fokus auf nachhaltige, sinnstiftende Gestaltung. Ihr Designansatz basiert auf den Prinzipien der Permakultur – ressourcenschonend, systemisch und nutzerfreundlich. Dieser Wandel führte sie nicht nur beruflich, sondern auch persönlich in eine neue Richtung – ins Ökodorf Sieben Linden, wo sie heute lebt, gestaltet und eine enkeltaugliche Zukunft mitformt. Thomas Jäger ist Vorstand des DDC, Permakultur-Enthusiast und Humanitarian Designer mit einem besonderen Fokus auf systemisches Denken und soziale Transformation. In seiner internationalen Arbeit verbindet er seit Jahren Gestaltung mit sozialen und ökologischen Herausforderungen – insbesondere dort, wo komplexe Krisen nachhaltige und kontextbasierte Antworten erfordern. Neben seiner Arbeit in humanitären und sozialunternehmerischen Kontexten – etwa im Libanon, in Griechenland, Peru und Äquatorialguinea – reichen seine Berührungspunkte mit Permakultur von Community-Gärten in Geflüchtetenprojekten über Beratungsprojekte auf landwirtschaftlichen Flächen in Marokko bis hin zur Entwicklung eines Sensorsystems und Erntewerkzeugs im Rahmen eines Kakao-Projekts mit Kleinbauern in Westafrika. Permakulturprinzipien spielten dabei eine tragende Rolle – nicht nur landschaftlich, sondern auch als methodischer Rahmen in der sozialen Gestaltung. Michael Menge, 1985 in Duisburg geboren, ist Master of Arts. 2008-2013 studierte er an den Hochschulen Köln und Mainz. Umfassende internationale Berufserfahrung in verschiedenen Sparten der visuellen Kommunikation sammelte er bei verschiedenen Design Unternehmen in Festanstellung und Freelancer Lange und Durach, Köln; Digital Eskimo, Sydney; Baggen Design, Düsseldorf; Saatchi&Saatchi, Düsseldorf; Ogilvy, Düsseldorf; GSVI, Bochum Mit seinem Design Büro studio franz, was er 2022 gegründet hat arbeitet er europaweit für Kunden vom internationalen Mittelstand bis zu Museen in Wien. Nur ein paar Jah­re spä­ter lan­de­te sie über Um­we­ge in der Chef­re­dak­ti­on eben des Ma­ga­zins, das sie seit ih­ren An­fän­gen in der Bran­che be­glei­tet. Im Stu­di­um stell­te An­ne Kai­ser fest, dass De­sign für sie mehr war als ein ei­ge­ner Style, Kund:in­nen oder neue Trends – De­sign be­deu­tet für sie, die rich­ti­gen Fra­gen zu stel­len. Fra­gen nach Ge­schich­ten, Emo­tio­nen und Ide­en. Fra­gen nach Ge­sell­schaft, Po­li­tik und Um­welt. Ih­re Ba­che­l­or­ar­beit »For­schung und Re­cher­che im De­sign« soll­te des­halb an­de­ren Krea­tiv­stu­die­ren­den die nö­ti­gen Me­tho­den an die Hand ge­ben, in ih­ren Pro­jek­ten wis­sen­schaft­lich fun­dier­te Fra­gen zu stel­len. 2021 zog sie nach dem Stu­di­um nach Frank­furt (Main), um als Ju­ni­or Art Di­rek­to­rin in ei­ner klei­nen Bran­dagen­tur zu ar­bei­ten. An­ne Kai­ser be­warb sich als Quer­ein­stei­ge­rin und er­zähl­te in den ers­ten bei­den Jah­ren bei PA­GE Ge­schich­ten von Krea­ti­ven, Stra­teg:in­nen und Tech­no­lo­gists auf PA­GE On­line, So­ci­al Me­dia und im Print­ma­ga­zin. 2024 stand sie als Mo­dera­to­rin auf der Büh­ne der De­sign Busi­ness Days. Seit An­fang 2024 ist sie Teil der Chef­re­dak­tion. Dave Higgins, president of the new St. Paul Downtown Development Corporation, talks to F&C reporter Dan Netter. Higgins talks about his role, the group's recent acquisition of the bank note for the Alliance Bank Center and how the DDC is meant to help St. Paul grow.

Stefan Forster wurde 1958 in Imsbach, einem kleinen Dorf in der Nordpfalz als Sohn, eines Postbeamten geboren. Nach dem Studium an der TU Berlin von 1978-1984, verbrachte er, dank eines DAAD Stipendiums, ein Jahr an der Universität Venedig. Zurück in Berlin arbeitete er bei Prof. Kuhler am Bau des Museum für Technik und Arbeit in Mannheim. Von 1988-1993 war er wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter an der TH Darmstadt, am Lehrstuhl Wohnungsbau. Gleichzeitig gründete er sein eigenes Architekturbüro STEFAN FORSTER ARCHITEKTEN. 1995 übersiedelte er nach Frankfurt ins Bahnhofsviertel. Überregionale Bekanntheit erlangte er mit seinem Büro durch seine wegweisenden Transformationen von Plattenbauten im Thüringischen Leinefelde. Er wurde hierfür mit Preisen überhäuft und weltweit zu Vorträgen eingeladen. Heute gehört er und sein Team zu den führenden deutschen Büros im Bereich Wohnungsbau. Mit rund 30 Architektinnen und Architekten entwickeln er die Standards im Wohnungsbau weiter und bearbeitet dabei sämtliche Segmente – vom hochwertigen Appartement bis zur bezahlbaren Mietwohnung, vom Stadthaus bis zum Großblock. Darüber hinaus zählen der Umbau von Büro- und Verwaltungsgebäuden sowie die Transformation von Siedlungsstrukturen zu den Schwerpunkten der Arbeit des Büros.Seit mehr als 30 Jahren widmet sich das Büro dem Weiterbauen an der Stadt. Bewährte Prinzipien – wie die Nutzungsmischung oder die Differenzierung des Raumes in öffentlich und privat – werden auf auf die gegenwärtigen Bedürfnisse übertragen. Zu den Kunden des Büros zählen neben kommunalen Baugesellschaften und Genos­senschaften auch private Investoren und Bauträger. Die Arbeit des Büros versteht sich als Plädoyer für eine qualitätsvolle Alltagsarchitektur und für Städte, in denen man gerne lebt.

Carolina Romahn ist Geisteswissenschaftlerin und Kulturmanagerin. Sie studierte Germanistik, Romanistik und Philosophie an der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt. Seit Dezember 2024 leitet sie als Geschäftsführerin das Team der World Design Capital Frankfurt RheinMain 2026. Romahn hat reichhaltige Erfahrungen in der Kulturförderung und im Kulturmanagement in der Region Frankfurt RheinMain und in Hessen, war von 2007–2017 Leiterin des Kulturamtes der Stadt Frankfurt und anschließend Ministerialrätin im Hessischen Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst, u. a. mit den Schwerpunkten Spartenübergreifende Kulturförderung, Literatur, kulturelle Bildung, Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft, Bildende Kunst sowie internationale Kulturbeziehungen. Carolina Romahn verantwortete in ihren Funktionen in der Kulturverwaltung zahlreiche Kooperationsveranstaltungen im Kulturbereich, so unter anderem eine Ausstellung der Fotografien von Barbara Klemm zum Berliner Mauerfall anlässlich des 25-jährigen Jubiläums der Deutschen Einheit. Romahn bringt gerne Menschen mit kreativen Ideen aus unterschiedlichen Segmenten an einen Tisch und entwickelt mit ihnen gemeinschaftliche Projekte. Sie hat ein großes interdisziplinäres Netzwerk auf regionaler Ebene, Landes- und Bundesebene und ist mit den kulturellen Nuancen der Region Frankfurt RheinMain bestens vertraut. Ihr bisheriges Engagement und ihre Fähigkeit, verschiedene Perspektiven zu vereinen, werden dazu beitragen, die Vision der WDC 2026 zu verwirklichen: Design als Werkzeug für demokratische Teilhabe und sozialen Wandel – ganz im Sinne von ,Atmospheres for a better lifeʽ.

Oliver Elser hat Architektur in Berlin studiert. Er ist seit 2007 Kurator am Deutschen Architekturmuseum (DAM) in Frankfurt am Main. 2016 war er Kurator des Deutschen Pavillons auf der Architekturbiennale von Venedig. Im DAM hat er Ausstellungen u.a. zur Architektur der Postmoderne und zum Brutalismus, über Architekturmodelle im 20. Jahrhundert und zuletzt das Projekt „Protest/Architektur“ realisiert (gezeigt 2023 bis 2025 in Frankfurt, Wien, Teufen, Kyjiw, Dnipro). Seit 1995 war er zunächst als Architekturkritiker und -journalist für Zeitungen und Zeitschriften tätig, erst in Berlin (u.a. FR, FAZ, Texte zur Kunst), danach in Wien (Der Standard, profil). 2012/13 Vertretungsprofessor für Szenografie an der Fachhochschule Mainz und 2021 Vertretungsprofessor für Architekturtheorie am KIT, Karlsruhe. 2017 Gründungsmitglied des Center for Critical Studies in Architecture (CCSA). Auf der Biennale von Venedig war er bislang dreimal mit Projekten vertreten: 2013 auf der Kunstbiennale, kuratiert von Massimiliano Gioni, im „Palazzo Enciclopedico“; 2015 als Kurator mit „Making Heimat. Germany, Arrival Country“ und 2025 als Teilnehmer im Arsenale gemeinsam mit einem Kollektiv aus dem Hambacher Wald, das dort eine Hängebrücke als Beispiel einer „Verzögerungsarchitektur“ installiert hat. Er ist Co-Autor eines Buches über die Rolle der Architektur im Tatort, Deutschlands beliebtester Krimi-Reihe. Sein Dokumentarfilm „Counter Communities“ (mit Oliver Croy) wurde auf Festivals in Wladiwostok, Budapest, London und Graz gezeigt.

Mea Hoffmann (*1990) ist Design- und Architekturkuratorin, Denkerin und Autorin. Seit 2018 ist sie am Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein tätig, wo sie an verschiedenen großen Wanderausstellungen gearbeitet hat, darunter »Home Stories: 100 Years, 20 Interiors« (2020), »German Design 1949-1989: Two Countries, One History« (2021) und als Co-Kuratorin an »Plastic: Remaking Our World« (2022). Zuletzt kuratierte sie »Iwan Baan. Momente der Architektur«, die erste große Werkschau über den niederländischen Fotografen Iwan Baan. Mea studierte Geisteswissenschaften, Kunst und Sozialwissenschaften (»The Humanities, The Arts and Social Thought«) am Bard College (Berlin/New York) mit Schwerpunkt »Kunst und Literatur« (BA) und schloss ihren Master 2016 in »Design Curating and Writing« an der Design Academy Eindhoven ab. Während ihres Studiums sammelte sie Erfahrungen im Bereich Bühnenbild und Theaterproduktion in New York und im Textil- und Modedesign in Paris. Vor ihrer Tätigkeit im Vitra Design Museum war sie an der »DO School« in Berlin für das Projektmanagement der Fellowships zuständig und verantwortete das damit verbundene Kulturprogramm. Seit 2025 ist sie Mitglied des Board of Governors des Bard College Berlin. Mea‘s Engagement als Referentin umfasst diverse Vorträge und Podiumsdiskussionen wie z.B. das Vogue Next Panel "Plastik: Chancen und Gefahren” im Jahr 2022.

Nana Agic-Kunisch ist 1978 geboren, verheiratet und hat eine Tochter. Sie ist Inhaberin der Diversity Buchhandlung HAPPY, Concept Store, Café & Wohlfühlort im Frankfurter Nordend. Mit dem Fokus auf Vielfalt, Sichtbarkeit und einer liebevoll kuratierten Auswahl an Büchern und Produkten schafft sie seit März 2022 einen Safe Space für Begegnung, Inspiration und politischen Austausch. Zuvor war sie über mehrere Jahre bei der medienpädagogischen Organisation Digitale Helden gGmbH im Bereichen Organisationsentwicklung, Personalmanagement und Eventorganisation tätig, wo sie interne Prozesse gestaltet und New Work als Unternehmenskultur etabliert hat. Die Digitalen Helden entwickeln Formate, die die digitale Bildung und Resilienz von Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen fördern. Als Referentin für Produkt-PR und Eventmanagement war sie viele Jahre beim Ecolabel Hess Natur tätig und verantwortete dort die Markenkommunikation und Veranstaltungen mit einem klaren Nachhaltigkeitsfokus. In ihrer Zeit beim Taschenlabel Affentor Frankfurt, einem Betrieb der Werkstatt Frankfurt e.V., lag ihr Schwerpunkt in der Projektleitung mit Fokus auf Marketing, PR und Vertrieb. Dort hat sie unter anderem soziale Projekte sichtbar gemacht und wirtschaftlich mitgetragen. Ihr fachlicher Hintergrund basiert auf einem Studium der Modejournalismus & Medienkommunikation an der Akademie Mode & Design in Düsseldorf. Neben ihrer beruflichen Tätigkeit gilt ihre Leidenschaft der Literatur, Kunst, Musik und dem bewussten Leben in Verbindung mit Natur, Reisen und Yoga. Sie hat längere Zeit in Paris, Sevilla und Toronto gelebt und arbeitet heute mit einem interkulturellen, offenen Mindset – neugierig, kreativ und vernetzt denkend..

Seit über drei Jahrzehnten arbeitet er auf dem Gebiet des Designs für Nachhaltigkeit. In jüngster Zeit konzentriert sich sein Interesse auf soziale Innovation für einen gerechten und ökologischen Übergang. In diesem Zusammenhang gründete er vor 15 Jahren DESIS: ein internationales Netzwerk von Designschulen, die im Bereich Design für soziale Innovation für Nachhaltigkeit tätig sind. Im Jahr 2024 wurde er von der Design Research Society mit dem Lifetime Achievement Award ausgezeichnet. Gegenwärtig ist er Präsident des DESIS-Netzwerks und Honorarprofessor am Politecnico di Milano. Er war Gastprofessor an mehreren Designhochschulen weltweit. Ana Relvão studierte Industriedesign an der Fakultät für Schöne Künste der Universität Lissabon. Nach Aufenthalten bei Miguel Vieira Baptista, Stefan Diez und Designaffairs war sie Partnerin bei Industrial Design Associates. Im Jahr 2014 gründete sie zusammen mit Gerhardt Kellermann das Büro Relvãokellermann. Ana Relvão gewann das INOV-ART-Stipendium des portugiesischen Kulturministeriums. 2016 und 2020 war sie für den Designpreis der Stadt München nominiert. Im Jahr 2018 hatte Ana Relvão eine Gastprofessur an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart inne. Außerdem lehrte sie als Gastdozentin an den Universitäten von Leiria, Bozen und Lissabon. Sie wird häufig als Jurorin zu internationalen Designwettbewerben eingeladen und war unter anderem Jurorin für den iF Design Award und den BraunPrize. April is Earth Month, and what a perfect time to celebrate as the onset of spring brings the first glimpse of nature's fresh vibrancy! While every day could technically be considered Earth Day, April 22 bears the official moniker and is a call to action. With a theme of “Our Power, Our Planet,” each of us is encouraged to determine what this means to us and how we will put our ideas into action. The possibilities are endless and each action toward environmental stewardship makes a difference. HSD embraces and demonstrates conservation practices throughout the year. In the month of April, the days get longer, the grass is greener, and temperatures are more moderate. Earth Month is a perfect time for buildings to take advantage of these conditions to conserve natural resources through efforts like water management, daylight harvesting, and bringing outside air into buildings. This year, HSD is also running a Resource Conservation Challenge that is open to all teachers and administrators, which encourages conservation while at school, work, home, or traveling. Students - ask your teachers about this challenge! For those who are motivated by gamification, try the Earth Month BINGO card! This activity is designed to bring awareness and prompts for more sustainable practices. Print it out and post it on a refrigerator or classroom bulletin board for full family and/or classroom participation, or take the conservation one step further and keep it handy on a phone or computer. The topics listed on the card are simply a guide. The most effective actions - and the ones you're likely to stick with - come from topics that interest you. Even though Liberty High School was just 21 years old in 2024, its proprietary and unique-to-that-building HVAC direct digital control - or DDC - system was at the end of its life. Additionally, three of the school's five boilers had either already failed or were failing. These factors were contributing to poor system performance, high energy usage, and occupant discomfort. The time had come to replace the failing equipment, but with an overall price tag of $2.2 million the District was left wondering how the project could be completed. Energy Services Company. Willdan was hired to assist. Willdan's team worked with the Energy Trust of Oregon and the Oregon Department of Energy to find funding opportunities. With tremendous success, the total Energy Trust incentive awarded was $636,000, which is the largest ever awarded for a single HVAC project. The balance of the project cost was covered by the Department of Energy's SB 1149 Public Purchase Charge program. We now have upgraded DDCs for Liberty's HVAC system, and four new high-efficiency boilers instead of five, which are anticipated to result in an annual energy savings of $140,000. A representative from Willdan presented the School Board with a ceremonial check for the Energy Trust incentive at the February 25 Board meeting. Für die Designerin und Designwissenschaftlerin Judith Block ist jede gesellschaftliche Herausforderung eine Chance für kreatives Analysieren und innovative Denkansätze. Diese Frage stellt sich nicht – denn viel interessanter ist doch, wie das Glas hergestellt wurde, in welchen kulturellen Zusammenhängen es funktionieren muss und welche Interaktionen durch das Glas zwischen Menschen entstehen. Mit der gestalterischen Perspektive wird aus einer ungewissen Zukunft voller Krisen und Unabwägbarkeiten ein riesiger Gestaltungsspielraum für die Ideengeber von Morgen. Judith Block studierte von 2012 bis 2018 Produktdesign an der HfG Offenbach. Ihre Leidenschaft für die philosophische Auseinandersetzung mit gestalterischen Herausforderungen veranlasste sie dazu, eine Reihe von Podiumsveranstaltungen in Kooperation mit dem Museum Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt zu machen. 2020 und 2021 folgten neben Lehraufträgen an der China Academy of Art zwei eigene Ausstellungen in Köln und Frankfurt zu Gesichtserkennungstechnologien und Digitalen Masken. Von 2021 bis 2023 arbeitete sie für das Zukunftsinstitut Frankfurt als Trendforscherin und Redakteurin. Als Mitgründerin des Future:Project genießt Judith Block nun den Zauber, der in allen Beginnen steckt.

In this episode, I talk about why our yeses and noes are so important, how we disconnect from them growing up in The Disconnected Domination Culture, and how we can reclaim their power and beauty, and the safety that they bring to our lives. I'd love to emphasise again that this is NOT Aware Parenting. This reparenting series is based on The Marion Method. Our yeses and noes are our slug wisdom. Our innate body wisdom The DDC disconnects us from our our slug wisdom. As children growing up in The DDC, we often experience being shamed or punished for wanting what we want - our YESES. Telling us there's something wrong with our joy, excitement, and the fulfilment and satisfaction we receive from having, doing or being what we really want. As a result, we may be disconnected from even knowing what we want, let alone being willing for it, and asking for what we want. This is very common in mothers and leads to resentment and burn out. We also experience shaming and punishment when we try to say no what we don't want - our NOES. Telling us that our frustration and outrage is wrong, when in fact it's the natural response of our noes not being heard, and is the will energy that gets silted up when our no is not heard. As a result, we may feel flat, depressed, powerless, helpless. We may often say yes when we feel a no. The DDC sets us up to feel scared to truly stand in the power of our yeses. But the yeses are the way in which life comes into the world. Our noes are what keep us truly safe. How can we reclaim them? With The Marion Method: Loving phrases from our Inner Loving Presences and Life itself, welcome and celebrating our yeses and noes. Inner Loving Presence Process work, going back to painful times when our yes or no wasn't welcomed, and our Inner Loving Presences listening lovingly to our painful feelings. Reparative experiences of our yeses and noes being welcomed and celebrated, and our increasing experiences of deep fulfiment. Our willingness work, where we increasingly live from willingness, what we are wanting and willing for, which is an embodied YES, and seeing the power of that reflected in our experiences. Our will work, where we increasingly feel safe and free to say no when we have a no, including the power of our Neo No. Our Outer and Inner Loving Presence work, where our feelings of both excitement/joy and frustration/outrage are welcomed and we become increasingly comfortable with them in our bodies. In fact, from a MM perspective, I see life as a continual experiment, where every experience we have, we can see whether and what we had a yes or no to, so we gradually refine our choices. In this way, our personality, relationships, work, and life become a clearer reflection of our Soul!
