Valeria interviews Julie Rayburn, the author of Peace in the Storms of Life: Devotional Encouragement for Women. Have you ever felt as though the waves of life are crashing over you? I have. In those deep valleys of desperation, my soul has cried out to the deep things of God. He has met me there and spoken truth to bring peace to my heart. It seems that my ears are more attuned to hear God when I am in the storms of life. In those deep places, He reveals spiritual truth. Walking through trials and hardships is extremely difficult. Yet the storms in my life have proven to be pivotal times of spiritual growth as I have clung to the Lord for peace and strength. My desire is to pass on what the Lord has taught me in hopes that you also might be encouraged by God's Word. These devotionals and questions reflect God's challenges to my own heart. Unfortunately, some of my storms have been of my own making. As you meditate on scripture and reflect upon the questions after each devotional, I hope you will journal your thoughts and personal reflections. Go through this journal alone or with a group. Take your time as you cry out to Him from the depths of your soul. God will be faithful to meet you in those deep waters. Julie Rayburn is a Christian author and speaker. Her passion is to encourage and inspire the application of biblical truth. Her last book, Be Still and Know: 365 Days of Hope and Encouragement for Women, was inspired by a journal that her mother kept the last year of her life. Peace in the Storms of Life was birthed from Julie's own life experiences. Jesus was the calm in the center of her storms. As she called to Him from the depths of her soul, He answered. These devotionals are the spiritual insights she gleaned as she clung to biblical truth and listened to the Lord. She hopes that her readers will experience the peace that passes all understanding as they meditate on God's Word in the storms of life. Julie has served as teaching director and area director for Community Bible Study (CBS). Currently, she and her husband, Scott, are serving as CBS ambassadors to Nepal. She is also on the CBS Board of Trustees. Julie is a retired surgical orthopedic nurse. She enjoys tennis, golf, and gardening. Scott and Julie have two grown children and four grandchildren. They reside in the Atlanta area.   To learn more about Julie Rayburn, please visit her website: https://julierayburn.com/ For Intro-free episodes: https://www.patreon.com/aquestforwellbeingpodcast Podcast Page: https://fitforjoy.org/podcast   — This podcast is a quest for well-being, a quest for a meaningful life to the exploration of fundamental truths, enlightening ideas, insights on physical, mental, and spiritual health. Her story of starting her brand in her living room, and of turning no's into yeses, is an inspiration to all of us. Question Highlights:   When did you become such a cheerleader for women? How do you navigate when the experts are telling you something won’t work when you know they are wrong? What would you have done differently?     Guest Bio: Jamie Kern Lima is an American entrepreneur, billion-dollar business success story, champion of women, philanthropist, culture-shifter and highly sought-after keynote speaker. She Co-Founded IT Cosmetics from her living room, grew it into a top-selling makeup and skincare brand, then sold it to L’Oréal for $1.2 Billion, in their largest US acquisition to date, making Jamie the first female CEO in L’Oréal’s 100+ year history.  Jamie is passionate about inspiring and mentoring entrepreneurs, building businesses, making a difference in the lives of women and girls and giving back in a big way. In this five-part podcast series, I visit with Amii Barnard-Bahn to consider five of the top corporate scandals from 2018. The five we discuss are CBS, 1MDB/Goldman Sachs, Facebook, Tesla and Nissan. We explore the failures at the Board of Directors and at senior management and these companies need to do to not only solve the legal imbroglios they now find themselves in but to also regain the trust of their various stakeholder. In this first episode we consider the ongoing scandal at CBS around its former CEO Les Moonves and the claims of not only sexual harassment but also sexual assault.  Some of the highlights include: ·     Why is this matter on our Top 5 list?·     Was there actual knowledge of the complaints by individual members of the Board or the entire Board of Directors?·     Should Viacom blow up the CBS Board or start over?·     What is the role of a CCO?·     Why should the CCO be separate and apart from the legal function? CBS President Les Moonves is the latest to be accused of sexual misconduct, but this time it occurred decades ago. Should there be consequences for behavior even when it was that long ago? What is the CBS Board of Directors going to do? Does it make a difference what kind of level of harassment it was? Should anything even remotely offensive be over the line?
