Sure you have, but there's a limit to how many times we're comfortable getting burned. After a while, most of us stop ourselves before the words reach our lips. We think we'll get ridiculed, shut down, ignored. As a result, opportunities and ideas fall by the wayside. As you'll learn in this episode, you can get away with more than you ever thought was possible by being bold and going for the ask, regardless of expectation. Stephanie Burns built her business on what she calls bootscrapping – getting scrappy while bootstrapping, a term and technique that came as a result of making bold unreasonable requests. She teaches us to take that leap. You might be surprised at what can happen. Question Highlights: How did you get started with making unreasonable requests? How do you cope with what comes up when you go to make those requests? How do you learn how to bring value to people? What are some of the obstacles that come up around making big asks? In This Episode You Will Learn About: The downside of being attached to permanency Asking “What's the worst that could happen?” Changing direction when you're going the wrong way Resources: Visit fastfoundations.com or text “FAST” to 310-421-0416 to learn more about our mastermind program Text “PODCAST” to 310-496-8363 to get your questions answered on our Q&A segment or get coached on the show! Show Notes: One thing that's holding you back is an attachment to permanency. Believing that you're supposed to find a great job and stay with that company forever, or you meet a partner and stay together forever, or you plant roots and stay in the same city forever. When you're not attached to permanency, you're allowed to dabble, to experiment, to try new things and see if they are right for you. And it's only through that experimentation that you find what works best. When you're worried that you're holding yourself back from making decisions because you feel attached to the permanency of your current situation, even if it's making you unhappy, it's time to start asking yourself some questions. First, “What's the worst that could happen if I make a new decision?” Oftentimes, that worst case scenario is the exact same situation you're in now, so don't be afraid of making a new decision when the outcome might be the same as no decision at all – it could be so much better. Many times we're afraid of losing the good things about where we're at now if we make a different decision. Maybe you're afraid of losing your friends or your favorite restaurant. But what if you got really intentional, took inventory of what you loved, and made a focused effort to do those things (or similar) in a different situation? It's possible to preserve the good while making even more room for new greatness. So stop focusing so much on permanency. Life isn't meant to be that way. If something isn't serving you in the way that it could, try something new. Be intentional, focus on maintaining what you already have, and keep changing things to get even better.

In This Episode You Will Learn About: Why people feel a lack of abundance Where to look when you need to feel more abundant How to shift your mindset into abundance Resources: Visit chrisharder.me/mastermind to apply for our elite mastermind group Text “PODCAST” to 310-496-8363 to get your questions answered on our Q&A segment or get coached on the show! Show Notes: Some people hate talking about money… but they still wish they had more. Here's a secret nobody tells you: making more money won't actually make you feel more abundant. That feeling can exist at any financial level. It's just a mindset. We're going to share our top tips for crushing scarcity, and moving into abundance. Our first tip is this: stop focusing on what you don't have and take inventory of what you do have. You have four tiers of assets, but many people only look at the first tier: cash on hand. We rely on that number to feel abundant, even though how we feel about that amount may change from day to day. Get off that roller coaster and start focusing on all four tiers: Tier 1: Cash on hand, checking, savings Tier 2: Cash investments, stocks, bonds, real estate equity Tier 3: Reserves that can be tapped into if needed (vehicles, credit, investors, collections) Tier 4: Untapped ideas and potential Abundance doesn't come from what you have on hand, but your ability to create money out of thin air. Anytime you're not feeling abundant, just recognize that you have those untapped talents that people would pay you for that you can turn into real money whenever you need. Our second tip is to hang out with rich people. You want to be in the room with people who are doing the things that you want. This can mean getting creative – for instance, the Nordstrom worker who's networking with everyone he helps put himself in the position to be surrounded by people doing the things he wants to be doing. This can also mean springing for something premium outside of your comfort zone that's going to put you around those people – premium memberships, hair salons, hotels, and more. These are the rooms where the opportunities and ideas are. These are the best ways to create more abundance in your life. You have to stretch your thinking beyond where you already are and look for the limitless possibilities out there.

Get your free drink guides at litepink.com Text “PODCAST” to 310-496-8363 to get your questions answered on our Q&A segment or get coached on the show! Show Notes: Making big, disruptive decisions in life can be hard. We've been making some massively big decisions in our life over the past few years, and we've developed a rhythm to making them and vetting whether they feel right. Whether it's a decision to move, start a business, sell a home, or any other big life decision, we run them through a three-step process to make sure it's the right move for us. The first question we ask ourselves before making a decision is this: will this decision give me extreme energy? Is it so aligned with your goals that, even when things get messy, it is still going to provide you with energy? When you're making a decision, you tend to focus on the energy you're feeling in the moment, not the long term energy that's going to come – or leave – based on that decision. The second question to ask yourself is: are you OK with the worst possible outcome of that decision? You don't have to feel good about that happening. You surely don't want it to happen. But would you be OK if it happened? It's a hard question to answer, but it is crucial if you want to move forward without regret. And third: do you have a support system to help you through the decision? This doesn't mean you have to know the exact people that are going to be there for you, but you have to know that they are out there and that you can find them. If you know that you have the support system in place for this decision, you need to move forward, knowing you can tap into it. Imagine how that decision would play out, all the way to the end. If you are happy with the outcome then move forward. If you've answered these three questions, then there's nothing stopping you from changing directions if things don't end up the way you expected, but at least you won't be paralyzed by the fear of deciding in the first place.

Text “PODCAST” to 310-496-8363 to get your questions answered on our Q&A segment or get coached on the show! Show Notes: As we've been traveling, we've been listening to a ton of podcasts that are reeducating and inspiring us to do our best work. Again and again, we are having these reminders of lessons that are imperative to our success. One of the first reminders we had was from a podcast with Lewis Howes and Rob Dyrdek. Rob does a great job of living his life to the fullest while also achieving incredible things and reaching massive success. He talked about living a life without compromise and following where your energy leads you. Another lesson is the power of manifestation – but not in the way you might expect. Truly taking the time to embody and visualize the feeling of what you want. Whether you're inclined to more logical or mystical thinking, this still works. Logically, picturing and feeling what you want is going to wire your brain to take conscious and subconscious actions that bring you the results. Or you may believe that the power of asking the universe is actually bringing you closer to your goals. Either way, this is a powerful tool. And lastly, we were reminded of the power of rituals and boundaries. Setting clear boundaries and expectations of how long you are going to work, how long you're going to spend with your family, who you're going to spend time with, what you're going to track, and more. You need to exercise your boundaries in order to live a life within the container you want. There are so many things you can learn from plugging in and listening to things that inspire and motivate you. You are more powerful than you realize, it just takes finding something to spark that memory and then taking the action to prove it.

Show Notes: 2022 seems like it's just around the corner. You've still got some time to prepare, but if you're not thinking about it, it'll be here before you know it. This is the sweet spot where you can make sure that you have everything lined up to make 2022 the best year of your life. We always take the time to plot out where we want to go next year so that we can hit the ground running instead of playing catch up, and we're sharing the strategies we're using for ourselves and our businesses so you can set your 2022 up for success. One thing we always focus on is our physical and mental health. Not only is this important personally, but the better you feel in these areas, the better your business will perform. Identify what practices you need to prioritize, what you need to add, and what you need to remove, and be relentless about sticking to them. The little things add up, so instead of focusing on massive shifts, look at the little pivots you can make that are going to add up to huge results. The next thing we focus on is what's most important to us in the next 18 months to make it feel like we are winning. When you identify your core values, you're able to build your business, personal, and financial goals around those. Find out how much money you need to live your “dream life,” and don't add anything to your plate that is going to make you money beyond that while also impacting your quality of life negatively. And last, audience acquisition. There's nothing that a large, engaged audience can't solve in your business – and therefore in your life. Focusing on the ways you can get eyes on your product and your business is going to be essential for setting you up for success in 2022. It's not too early – or too late – to start planning out your business and personal moves for next year. In fact, this is the perfect time to make the plan for next year that will help you achieve everything you want and more.

In This Episode You Will Learn About: Why flexibility matters Where flexibility helped us Where being rigid hurt us How to be more flexible in life Resources: Visit chrisharder.me/mastermind to apply for our elite mastermind group Text “PODCAST” to 310-496-8363 to get your questions answered on our Q&A segment or get coached on the show! Show Notes: Flexibility creates opportunity. When good things pop up in life, you will only be able to say “yes” if you've been intentional about building flexibility into your life. And a lack of flexibility is only going to cost you opportunities. We're going to show some examples of both in our life – as well as how you can build more flexibility into your own. A few months ago, someone made an offer on our Scottsdale, Arizona home that was way higher than we thought it was worth – much more than we paid for it. And even though we had only been there a few months, we saw that it was a major opportunity to make a lot of money fast. That offer ultimately fell through, but it led to us putting our home on the market to see what happened. The flexibility to be OK with either outcome gave us an incredible opportunity. On the other hand, an example of when a lack of flexibility robbed us of opportunity is when our friend Jim Kwik wanted to use my recording studio to record an interview with Tom, the founder of MySpace. But the studio was completely booked for the day and Jim said he was hoping to get Tom to do an interview on our show after his interview. He told us to “Start making room for the miracles.” It's important that you leave space in your calendar for things to show up, but this doesn't mean to do nothing. You have to go out into the world to allow miracles to show up. Just don't be so rigid that you aren't willing to see those miracles for the opportunities that they are.

In This Episode You Will Learn About: The importance of being present Choosing to focus on the positive Recognizing silver linings Resources: Text “PODCAST” to 310-496-8363 to get your questions answered on our Q&A segment or get coached on the show! Show Notes: Sometimes you have days that – from the outside in – seem terrible, but internally, we have the power to turn those days around. Our brains are wired to focus on the negative, but we can put our lives into perspective with one simple trick: acknowledge that this is life, and this may be as good as it gets. So buckle up and enjoy the moment. Even on days that suck, you'd be surprised by the joy that can come from just being present in the moment. You don't have to override sad or painful feelings, but if you acknowledge and accept them, and recognize what each moment has to offer, you can find the good in any situation. Tell yourself that today may be as good as it gets. Stop comparing where you are against a future where things might get better or a past that you can't reclaim. Today is all you have, and it may never get better, so focus on the silver lining because, as long as you're alive, there'll be one to be found. If you try that phrase on for size, it will reframe everything for you, and you will find more joy every day.

In This Episode You Will Learn About: Getting comfortable asking for help When some asks require following up Developing your asking muscle Getting your elevator pitch down Asking for connections Building a network Resources: Apply for 1-on-1 coaching at chrisharder.me/coaching. Text “PODCAST” to 310-496-8363 to get your questions answered on our Q&A segment or get coached on the show! Show Notes: Why is it so hard to ask for help? This is a weakness for many people – and there's so many reasons why that may be. A major part is the fear of bugging people. There's a difference between knowing how to ask for help and making it feel burdensome. It requires approaching that ask with a certain energy. We're going to look at how you can go in for that ask without putting the pressure on. There are two main factors that contribute to getting better at asking: Do you have your asking muscles developed? Do you have people to ask? When you're going in for an ask, you have to make sure you know what you're asking. Ask it in a way that doesn't require follow-up questions. Be clear and concise and don't waste the person's time. You only get one shot at this so take your time making sure the question is just right. Whatever you do, don't be an “askhole.” That's someone who asks for advice but doesn't take any action. If you're going to ask for help, make sure you are actioning it immediately. It doesn't have to be perfect, but when people see that you're the kind of person who puts advice into practice, they'll be happy to give you more of it. The second part of this is who you ask. A lot of people are shooting for the stars and asking the biggest names they can think of without having the ability to offer them anything in return. Instead, start with the people within your own network. If you don't have a network, it's your job to seek out people online and find them. People with similar goals, interests, or wants as you. Knowing how to ask and how to build a circle of influence to ask within is going to make your journey as an entrepreneur go so much smoother. Collaboration is the shortcut to success. It is a skill, but it is one worth building.
