The Commentary Booth takes on a different tone this week. Today, Jamie & the Australian wrestling community pay tribute to a man who inspired many to embark on their creative journeys. Without Akira Toriyama, it's likely that Pario Magazine & The Commentary Booth wouldn't exist! Akira Toriyama, the brilliant mind behind the awe-inspiring Dragon Ball series, has tragically departed from this world, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished. At the tender age of 68, he was taken from us due to an acute subdural haematoma, leaving an irreplaceable void in the hearts of fans worldwide. The news of his passing, confirmed by Bird Studio, the sanctuary of creativity he established in 1983, shook the very foundation of the manga world. Further details unveiled the silent battle he fought against a brain tumour, a struggle that none of us were aware of.Growing up, Toriyama's creations were more than just stories to me—they were companions in a world that often felt overwhelming. Dragon Ball Z, in particular, was my daily dose of solace and excitement. Each morning, before heading off to school, I'd lose myself in its adventures, finding comfort and joy in the episodes that aired on Cheez TV. And even now, years later, that love hasn't dimmed. From collecting memorabilia to seeking out themed cafes across the globe, my devotion remains unwavering. But Toriyama was more than just an artist to me—he was a mentor, a guide through the ups and downs of life. Through Dragon Ball, he taught me the value of perseverance, and of never giving up when faced with adversity. His words became my mantra, guiding me through my health struggles and creative endeavours. For that, I'll forever be grateful.Toriyama's impact on the manga world is immeasurable. From his early days of creating Dr. Slump to the unparalleled success of Dragon Ball, his works have left an indelible mark on countless lives. His influence extends far beyond the pages of his manga, permeating into video games and pop culture at large. His journey into the world of manga wasn't without its challenges. Rejection after rejection only fueled his determination, pushing him to strive for greatness. And greatness he achieved, earning accolades and adoration from fans around the globe. The outpouring of grief following his passing is a testament to the profound impact he had on all of us. From fellow manga creators to wrestlers like Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Big E, Lexis King, Zelina Vega, Naomi/Trinity, and Rush, tributes continue to pour in from around the world, each one a poignant reminder of the legacy he leaves behind. Here in Australia, Toriyama's influence transcended boundaries, touching the hearts of wrestlers across the country. As a tribute to his memory, I've gathered reflections from various figures within the wrestling community, allowing them to pay their respects in their own words. It's a fitting tribute to a man whose creativity knew no bounds and whose legacy will endure for generations to come.Featuring tributes from: Jake Taylor, Bobby Bishop, Lili Edea, Ryan Casca, Edward Dusk, & Tommy Knight. This week's episode brought to you by Australian Wrestling CardsCheck out more great content from Pario Magazine on our website: www.pariomagazine.com.au-------------------------------------------------------------SUPPORT PARIO MAGAZINE & THE COMMENTARY BOOTH - PATREON- BUY MERCH- AMAZON PRIME VIDEO- Subscribe to AEW Plus using my code (q0yydoz) to earn $10 in FITE credit MY EQUIPMENT - Elgato Facecam- Rode PodMic- Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP - StreamYard FOLLOW JAMIE ON SOCIAL MEDIA - Twitter- Facebook- Instagram- TikTokFOLLOW PARIO MAGAZINE ON SOCIAL MEDIA - Twitter- Facebook - Instagram

Star of Cheez TV, former teenage witch, and musician Lenka joins the girlies this week! Lauren and Concetta ask what it's like to have a song featured in the huge, award-winning Hollywood film ‘Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging', as well as another little movie called ‘Moneyball'. They also get into Lenka's early years in LA, crashing at Ben Lee's bungalow, and encounters with scientologist celebs. Lenka dishes the gossip on writing a song about a fight with a friend, as well as her teenage experiences with Ouija boards and successfully putting a curse on her friend's dad. There's also an amazing story about Tom Cruise and an Emu, which obviously inspires a lively round of Fuck/Watch. Lenka's new single ‘Winter Sun' is out now! For ten years, Ryan Lappin was one of the hosts of Cheez TV, a morning cartoon show which was based on the premise: What if some kids broke into the TV station and started running things?
