I'm still gathering my feelings and thoughts about the Dragon Ball Daima final episode, MAXIMUM, and everything it means for the Dragon Ball franchise as Akira Toriyama's final work for us. SSJ4 Goku is canon, sure, but did it come at the cost of the canon? Toriyama don't give a shit and I both love and hate that lol. Let me know your thoughts! Just last year, Sony had grand designs of a new PlayStation leadership structure executing on an exciting multi-pronged strategy, but only three fiscal quarters later, the plan has come undone. Hideaki Nishino and Hermen Hulst were bestowed co-CEO roles -- the former looking after hardware and services, the latter after software -- but now, Nishino will hold the CEO role alone, with Hulst demoted and now reporting directly to him. While Sony Corporation itself made some other changes as well, including installing Hiroki Totoki as the larger entity's CEO, changes to PlayStation's executive structure so soon after alterations were first made says something rather clear: Bad choices were made, and rectifying them as quickly as possible is the best idea. We discuss. Other news this week includes Xbox quickly becoming PlayStation's biggest publisher, with yet another Xbox game -- Forza Horizon 5 -- en route to PS5, rumblings of new films for Resident Evil and Beyond: Two Souls, PlayStation 5 continuing to outsell the PS4 in the US when adjusted for time, layoffs at BioWare following Dragon Age's tumultuous end, MLB: The Show 25 skipping PS4 for the first time since the console launched, and more. Listener inquiries wrap things up. Is NCSoft's Horizon MMO cancelled? How does a game's budget actually get determined? Should future Dragon Quest games abandon Akira Toriyama's art style? Will Colin's Herman Miller chair ever arrive? Please keep in mind that our timestamps are approximate, and will often be slightly off due to dynamic ad placement. Kyle and Josh are back to discuss Dragon Ball Daima episode 6, Lighting. Super Saiyan Goku and Glorio finally fight to test their strength, and we see Glorio's majin magic, which strangely looks very similar to force lightning from Star Wars. Toriyama really was smoking on that spice on his way out the door... Additionally, some theories about what sort of new fusions and transformations we may see along the way. Will we get Super Saiyan 4 in Daima? Or is Goku just feeling gassy? We also talk about Dragon Ball Daima theater experiences and how sweet it is to have Stephanie Nadolny back as Goku, and why Sparking Zero has seen such a big player dropoff in just one month. In this week's new issue of The Comic Section Podcast, the hosts begin by paying their condolences to Akira Toriyama, the revered creator of "Dragon Ball" and the artist behind "Dragon Quest," "Chrono Trigger," and numerous other works. On this special episode of The One Piece Podcast, we celebrate the life and legacy of the author, artist, character designer and mangaka Akira Toriyama. We speak about his immense legacy — from the one-shots featured in Akira Toriyama's Manga Theater, to Dr. Slump, to Dragon Ball, to Dragon Quest to Sandland and beyond. We discuss his relationship to each of our lives, his relationship with Eiichiro Oda, and the legacy he leaves behind. 0:00:00 Akira Toriyama 1:16:08 Voice Messages & Outro We want to extend our deepest condolences to Toriyama-sensei's family and friends. May he rest in peace. It's just too soon. The hole that he's left is just too big.A wave of sadness washes over me at the thought that I'll never see him again. I idolized him from childhood, and I still remember the day he first called me by my name. I fondly recall positively jumping for joy with Kishimoto-san on the way home the day he first used the word “friends” to describe us. I also remember the last conversation we ever had.He was one of those who was passed the baton in an era where it was thought you'd rot your brain if you read comics, and created an era where children and adults alike could enjoy reading them. So, this is what you can do with comics. So you can get into that world. That's the dream he gave us. It was like watching a hero bravely charging ahead.I think the excitement and the emotion at the time of Dragon Ball‘s original serialization must have really taken root in not just cartoonists, but also creators active in all sorts of industries, when they were young boys. His presence was like a great, sheltering tree. For the cartoonists of our generation, who got to stand on the same stage, the closer we got to the Toriyama oeuvre, the more we became aware of just how large that presence was. To a frightening degree. But even so, it was simply a pleasure to get to meet the carefree man himself. After all, our love for Toriyama-sensei is in our very blood. With respect and gratitude for the world filled with creativity that Toriyama-sensei left us, I express my sincere condolences. Rest in peace.May Heaven be the kind of joyful world you envisioned, Sensei.Eiichiro Oda Music: Shunsuke Kikuchi Source: https://www.kanzenshuu.com/2024/03/08/akira-toriyama-passes-away/
