Send us a textMark invites writer, poet and programmer Andrew Blair - a man who doesn't have a Doctor Who podcast! However, Andrew's not short of Doctor Who gripes to send down the Tinsel Tunnel. Under discussion: What would World Enough and Time be like if it was written by Christopher H Bidmead? Is "Genesis of the Daleks" truly the moral highpoint of Doctor Who? And what does fandom have in common with the Crispy Master? You can have a go on Andrew's Big Finish Generator here.Support the showFollow us on TwitterLike us on FacebookBuy us a pint

If a regeneration story means the end of an era in Doctor Who, Logopolis is an extinction-level event. It bears the extra weight of being the final story in the epic run of Tom Baker, who, to many, was the definitive actor to play the Doctor. Christopher H. Bidmead's script doesn't shy away from this impossible task, with the premise, the villain, and the stakes all appropriately elevated. You'd be forgiven for thinking this might not have been the best time to stuff the TARDIS full of new companions, but somehow Logopolis still holds up (yes, even the flood-the-TARDIS business). Somewhere, Anthony Ainley is deservedly having the last laugh. Please leave a review on Apple Podcasts! Bidmead Producer: John Nathan-Turner Aired 28 February – 21 March 1981 Pull To Open: Logopolis Season 3 Episode 23 Hosts: Pete Pachal and Chris Taylor
NEW TO WHO - LOGOPOLIS In theory Dan and Steven should be able to change †heir appearance to blend in unobtrusively wherever they happen to materialise. In practice, however, because of a fault in the chameleon circuit, they always look like a police box - a minor inconvenience the they now hope to correct.Fixing the mechanism involves a visit to Perth and a trip to the planet Logopolis - normally a quiet little place that keeps itself to itself. But on this occasion the meddling presence of Col ensures the disruption of normality. And even Col is horrified by the threat of total chaos he unintentionally precipitates - until he finds a way to turn the imminent destruction of the universe to his own advantage...New to Who concludes its trilogy of regeneration stories with this, the final story of the Fourth Doctor as played by the inimitable Tom Baker. It is also the introductory story featuring the first Australian companion, Tegan Jovanka played by the lovely Janet Fielding, who joins existing companion Adric (Matthew Waterhouse) and Nyssa (Sarah Sutton) who rejoins the cast in what will become known as the ‘crowded TARDIS’ in the following season.LOGOPOLIS was written by the Season 18 script editor, Christopher H Bidmead, and is beautifully directed by the late, great Peter Grimwade, his second story as director for the programme. Peter Grimwade would go on to write three Fifth Doctor stories. The cover of the original imprint of the 1982 Target novelisation for LOGOPOLIS is by Andrew Skilleter. The novelisation is written by Christopher H Bidmead, who also reads the audiobook, which is available from Audible.Intro theme by Our Colin (2019), and outro music by Bridget (2019). Much love and thanks, Col and Bridget! ❤︎If you enjoyed Bridget's music and would like to hear more, please check out her band Simone & Girlfunkle.Special thanks to Sarah Tout at Voice Box Media Training.NEW TO WHO WILL RETURN (One day. Yes, one day…)
NEW TO WHO meet CHRISTOPHER H BIDMEADIt is with great pleasure that we give Our #SweetDorks an interview with the Script Editor of Doctor Who during the Season 18 and writer of Logopolis, Christopher H Bidmead.Dan, Steven, and Col are joined by Christopher, who relates the story of how he became a writer, actor, and script editor of Doctor Who.Over the course of our chat, we hear Christopher talk about what it was like to inherit the show from his predecessor, Douglas Adams, what it was like to work with Tom Baker, and what parts John Nathan-Turner and Barry Letts played in the shaping of the vision of Season 18, the last of the Fourth Doctor and the first of the 1980s.Great thanks go to Christopher H Bidmead for appearing on New To Who!
As our podcast begins to wind down (still have like a year, people, calm down a bit), we're forced to look at things that don't really have much correlation other than placement. As such, Erik and Kyle are spending this month talking about the beginning of the JNT and Christopher H. Bidmead era with our good friend David Fisher's "The Leisure Hive," and one-timers Andrew McCullough and John Flanagan's "Meglos." Hooo boy, thems sure are stories that exist.
French fries are potatoes so potatoes have to be good right? A grey quarry. Bland spaceship sets. Poor concept execution. The question is, am I describing Underworld or Frontios? It’s Frontios. Sorry. Frontios was written by Christopher H. Bidmead and aired in January and February of 1984. Doctor Who © The BBC Any other referencesContinue reading →
I hope that when the wheelchairs take over they don’t find this. This week Kiyan and Dylan bravely soldier forth without their leading man Tom Baker. There’s this weird scruffy blonde dude now, can’t quite remember his name. Pete probably. It’s Castrovalva, written by Christopher H. Bidmead and aired in January of 1982. Happy May, everybody! Hope you're ready for block transfer computation and charged vacuum emboitments, because this month Erik and Kyle are going to be talking about the Doctor Who stories written by Christopher Hamilton Bidmead, a writer and script editor who ushered in a whole year of hard science mathematics (deserving a badge for excellence, maybe?), with his three stories "Logopolis," "Castrovalva," and "Frontios." How do they fare under the scrutiny of the DWTWR pair? WE'LL SEE!!

In this episode of Doctor Who: Whos On Target we find ourselves in a foreboding, dark and anxiety-ridden place - yes, the mind of Christopher H. Bidmead! Sorry, that was a bit cheap - but we review our first story by the former script-editer himself - and it causes a huge rumpus at the Whos On Target team's HQ - wildly varying opinions on this one...
Ben and Mark make a much more successful second attempt to discuss Utopia and Frontios after previous technical and geographical difficulties. The return of the Master and Captain Jack, the destruction of the TARDIS, rubber skirts and spittle flecked deliveries all come under discussion. Also this month: Ben and Mark discuss Doctor Who celebrities they haven't met, Christopher H Bidmead tries to flog us some merchandise and Mark proposes an X-rated remake of Mawdryn Undead.
