Another season in the can! Season 18 done and dusted, and you know what that means… it's time for our customary season retrospective, in which we take a look back at the entirety of the season with our blend of awards, metrics, and questions from our friends on social media. These are always a lot of fun for us to do, and we really hope that you enjoy listening to this as much as we did recording it!   Join us as we discuss how one of the new companions gets the best entrance ever through involuntary manslaughter, Romana's best (and worst) costumes, the Adric haters' club, Tegan's absolutely magnificent way of bursting onto the scene in Logopolis, the general incompetence of our heroes in killing vampires, and how this season creates one absolutely epic piece of fanwank. Of course, we also decide who gets the Dougie and who gets the Dickie, which is never a dull moment!   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find the entirety of this season available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). It's the end, but the moment has been prepared for… (were we ever going to start out this blurb with anything else!?) We finally reach the end of Tom Baker's seven year tenure on the show with the Master embarking on a bonkers scheme that threatens the entire universe. But one question remains – is Logopolis actually any good!?   Join us as we discuss dressing for job that you want, why Tegan is magnificently annoying in the best way possible, how this story plays into the history of the podcast, the stupidity of some of the Doctor's plans, how Logopolitan society is based on Kabbalah, how camp the new Master is, and how Adric actually does math. Oh, and Anthony pokes plot holes in the plan to save the universe…   If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this story available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). ADAM HENLEY talks about his TV history and THE WEST WING First broadcast on FAB RADIO INTERNATIONAL at 19:00 on February 2nd 2025. This week we welcome a new voice to VISION ON SOUND, that of ADAM HENLEY, an archive television fan who I first met when he offered to help out with some of my technical support when I was recording our live show on stage at WHOOVERVILLE in Derby last September. He expressed an interest in taking part, and suggested we might talk about THE WEST WING for the show. However, because he hadn't been on the show before, I also wanted to talk a little bit about his own life as a fan of television, so, whilst we do get to THE WEST WING in the end, it's on a journey that takes via LOGOPOLIS, the PYE TUBE CUBE. THE YOUNG ONES, EASTENDERS, BLACKADDER GOES FORTH, THE TIME MACHINE, and the films of POWELL AND PRESSBURGER to finally reach the Oval Office, which is certainly a very different route to the one taken by the current incumbent, and I hope that you'll stick with us for the full term of this edition of the show, which is, luckily enough, only going to take up an hour of your time. PLEASE NOTE - For Copyright reasons, musical content sometimes has to be removed for the podcast edition. All the spoken word content remains (mostly) as it was in the broadcast version. Hopefully this won't spoil your enjoyment of the show.

Jacob has issues with Traken as a moral fable, Ciarán ponders whether the Keeper is more Arthur Scargill or Ian Paisley, and we come to a distressing realisation about the inhabitants of Logopolis. Tread Perilously's annual Doctor Who month concludes with Tom Baker's final story as The Doctor: "Logopolis." When The Doctor determines he must measure a real police box as part of a chameleon circuit fix, The Master springs a space-time trap on him. Meanwhile, newly hired air hostess Tegan Jovanka makes her way to Heathrow with her aunt Vanessa. Also, a mysterious Watcher observes as all paths lead to a motorway bypass some miles from the airport. Will Tegan find her way into the TARDIS? Will The Master get his revenge on The Doctor? And just who is the Watcher? All will be revealed. The moment has been prepared for, after all. Justin is affected by the funereal tone of the whole story. Nevertheless, he is pleased to see Mrs. J in her first adventure. Tom's somber performance is critiqued. His treatment of Matthew Waterhouse on set also gets a discussion. Erik reveals his dislike of Baker's final Doctor costume. Block Transfer Computation gets a lot of mileage despite not making a lot of sense. Writer Christopher H. Bidmead's obsession with entropy becomes a recurring theme. Guest star John Fraser proves to be an MVP and a wild Star Wars topic pops out of the weeds.

SHOW NOTES: Because Miles' schedule sometimes means he has to prioritise other shows, even shows that aren't ours, we decide to do something quick and off the cuff and we end up with one of our longest episodes, go figure. Of course, we got Miles to talk about Doctor Who, what did we think would happen because that boy goes feral pretty quickly! Mainly talking about the four recent Doctor Who specials put on in the last few months, the boys talk toot about Star Beast's, body horror and Ncuti Gatwa's energy before Charlie asks Miles a lot of strange and stupid questions about Doctor Who and we lose the plot and our remaining sanity really damn quickly! The Star Beast (08:19) Wild Blue Yonder (25:57) The Giggle (45:00) The Church on Ruby Road (53:10) Silly and Insane Questions (1:15:11) The music for the opening and closing is ‘Who is the Doctor' by Jon Pertwee. Yes. Him. TALKING POINTS INCLUDE: Why Miles doesn't want to host a Doctor Who podcast. Miles' application of ‘Get it done and go to the pub' theory of how to deal with any job as applied to TV Production. The struggle of ongoing media to maintain a schedule. The theatrical camp charm of Classic Who. The number of actors from the era of Television we're talking about whose Wiki articles usually end with ‘Death from complications due to Alcoholism' is incredibly large and no joke. The curse of Doctor Who being that Modern Doctor Who can never look cheap ever again.Drinking Game Rules for this episode: Take a shot every time Charlie says Disney Money. Two shots if he sounds vaguely contemptuous. Watching the BBC have to learn how to do effects heavy shows. Red Dwarf. Differences between ‘Doctor Who and the Star Beast' (Doctor Who Weekly) and ‘The Star Beast' the TV Special. The different looks about the Meep, Miles' wife's massive Pokemon Plushie collection (which Miles doesn't have a problem with). Traditional 2005-2009 Who. Miles doesn't like the 10th Doctor (SHOCK), the alien-ness of the Doctor, Capaldi and the guitar, Charlie's inability to watch the 90s X-Men cartoon, Miles' issues with the Whittaker-era and what they could have done, Wild Blue Yonder, Event Horizon, Sunshine, Honestly, another drinking game rule at this point, if we mention Video Box and the 90s, take a shot, what parts of Doctor Who Miles finds scary, Silent Hill 2 (a game Miles wants to play) Body Horror for Kids. Miles compliments David Tennant's acting. Mean Monsters, Neil Gaiman-y ways of looking at the world. Miles admits Logopolis' hard SF and entropy is silly to him. Is magic real in Doctor Who? Magic being turned into a skill tree, Brandon Sanderson, Miles goes on FAR TOO LONG about Dragonball Z Power Levels. The Giggle and how Neil Patrick Harris has ruined the name AH-MEE POND for Miles and Reanna. The Bi-Generation as a way of tying up all our baggage before new baggage, Ncuti Gatwa's incredible energy from the word GO, The Church on Ruby Road, the Doctor's mental health, RTD taking notes from Moffat's beats, Charlie always has time for The Leftovers, Christopher Eccleston's American accent game is strong both here and in Night Country, Miles' generally aparthy towards Star Wars: Ahsoka made him start crawling back to Doctor Who, Planet of the Daleks isn't great, but it's fun, Charlie's old rewatch and Morris Men ARE Evil, Miles' own rewatch and where he's at (FUTURE MILES here, The Myth Makers… not great) Miles and Charlie will never escape Blackface, Series 3 follies and the shows stumbling blocks that'll never really go away until Troughton, the show's changes for better and worse, Charlie was asked to provide insane, stupid questions and HE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. Miles loves ‘The Mutants' (although it turns out Charlie was actually going to be watching ‘The Sea Devils.' Biggs Darklighter sans Porn Stache. PEDANT CORNER: The video Miles mentions that posits 50 years of American Doctor Who is here: https://youtu.be/bCv5o7n_mtk?si=gOy1bZTJ0eDp0Kn6 and watch it, it's great.

Welcome to our podcast series from The Super Network and Pop4D called Tubi Tuesdays Podcast! This podcast series is focused on discovering and doing commentaries/watch a longs for films found on the free streaming service Tubi, at TubiTV Your hosts for Tubi Tuesdays are Super Marcey, ‘The Terrible Australian' Bede Jermyn, Prof. Batch (From Pop4D & Web Tales: A Spider-Man Podcast) and Kollin (From Trash Panda Podcast), will take turns each week picking a film to watch and most of them will be ones we haven't seen before.Part One Starts Playing At: 00:08:04Welcome back to Classic Doctor Who Month at The Tubi Tuesdays Podcast, with thanks to Prof. Batch for the idea! Each week during February a co-host will pick a Doctor and watch a story arc that goes around the length of a movie (90ish minutes) as Tubi has Classic Doctor Who available. Super Marcey herself wasn't able to join since she had (forced?) to help Anastasia in her upcoming wrestling match, so her co-hosts Bede Jermyn, Prof. Batch and Kollin, along wth good friend of the show and Doctor Who expert James Simpson, took the reigns on this one. After having adventures through space and time last week with Bede's pick of Doctor, this week it's Kollin's choice and he went with the fourth Doctor and with the four part episode/story arc 'Logopolis'!Logopolis is from Season 18 (Classic Who), it stars Tom Baker as the Doctor, Matthew Waterhouse, Sarah Sutton & Janet Fielding as the companions Aldric, Nyssa & Tegan, Anthony Ainley as The Master and Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor. If you have never listened to a commentary before and want to watch the film along with the podcast, here is how it works. You simply need to grab a copy of the film or load it up on Tubi (you may need alcohol), and sync up the podcast audio with the film. We will tell you when to press and you follow along, it is that easy! Because we have watched the films on Tubi, it is a free service and there are ads, however we will give a warning when it comes up, so you can pause the film and provide time stamps to keep in sync.Highlights include:* Welcome back to Classic Doctor Who Month!* Count how many times Bede makes up the title of Logopolis* We're all obsessed with the Fouth Doctor's trademark scarf* One of the companions looks like Justin Bieber and another is an Aussie... Cue the jokes for both!* The Master has finally showed up!* Did... Did Bede murder Nerd Kraven?!* Wait... Bede doesn't do that many bad jokes in this one? What?!* There a lot of quiet moments in this one because your hosts are way too invested in this episode* Plus much, much more!Check out The Super Network on Patreon to gain early access to The Tubi Tuesdays Podcast!DISCLAIMER: This audio commentary isn't meant to be taken seriously, it is just a humourous look at a film. The Keeper of Traken had to not only further the season, but also introduce what would become a new companion and also reintroduce The Master. If a regeneration story means the end of an era in Doctor Who, Logopolis is an extinction-level event. It bears the extra weight of being the final story in the epic run of Tom Baker, who, to many, was the definitive actor to play the Doctor. Christopher H. Bidmead's script doesn't shy away from this impossible task, with the premise, the villain, and the stakes all appropriately elevated. You'd be forgiven for thinking this might not have been the best time to stuff the TARDIS full of new companions, but somehow Logopolis still holds up (yes, even the flood-the-TARDIS business). Ben and Mark are joined by artist, model maker and friend of the show Millie McKenzie to bid a fond, melancholic farewell to Peter Capaldi, Steven Moffat and Tom Baker. Is ‘Twice Upon a Time’s meta look at the show’s history from 1963 to 2017 perfect Christmas viewing or one last self-indlugent flourish from a departing writer? And is ‘do the exact opposite of Douglas Adams’ a wise choice for anyone when the result is ‘Logopolis’? We discuss all of this along with mathematics, mortality and getting rid of Tom Baker without pomp or occasion. Also: Can you have too much David Tennant? A very special May Day edition of Degsey’s Impression Challenge Segment and don’t you think Ben and Mark look tired?

A legendary giant white worm is sought after by the Doctor, Leela and the Master.Cast    The Doctor - Tom Baker    Leela - Louise Jameson    The Master - Geoffrey Beevers    Colonel Spindleton - Michael Cochrane    Demesne Furze - Rachael StirlingContinuity    Geoffrey Beevers played the Master, alongside Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, in the 1981 television story The Keeper of Traken.    The Fourth Doctor also encountered the Master in The Deadly Assassin and Tom Baker's last television story, Logopolis.    The version of the Master that Beevers plays has an emaciated, corpse-like appearance. This was first seen in The Deadly Assassin, although in that story, the Master was played by Peter Pratt.    For the Doctor and the Master, Trail of the White Worm takes place between The Deadly Assassin and The Keeper of Traken.    The Doctor notices that the Master looks different, less emaciated, reflecting the differences in appearance in The Deadly Assassin and The Keeper of Traken. This may have been a result of the aborted rejuvenation at the end of The Deadly Assassin.    Beevers previously reprised the role of the Master in two Big Finish audios, Dust Breeding and Master, both with the Seventh Doctor. In those dramas, the Master had reverted to his former deteriorated state, after losing the form he gained at the end of The Keeper of Traken. The Kraal attempt to invade the Earth, while the Doctor is trapped on their irradiated home world, Oseidon.Cast    The Doctor - Tom Baker    Leela - Louise Jameson    The Master - Geoffrey Beevers    Colonel Spindleton - Michael Cochrane    Marshal Grimnal / Captain Clarke - Dan Starkey    Tyngworg / Warner / UNIT R/T Operator - John BanksContinuity    The Kraals were in the 1975 Fourth Doctor television story, The Android Invasion. That story also featured UNIT.    This is the first use of Kraals by Big Finish Productions.    The Doctor and Leela encounter the Master again in the third season of Fourth Doctor adventures, due to be released in 2014.[2]External links
