We first became aware of Hoskyns nearly a decade ago when we first read his seminal Waits biography "Low Side of the Road" and we have been fans ever since. Hoskyns' writing, fandom and insight were the very bedrock for this podcast, and now things have come full circle as we finally sit down and chat with him. Amongst much else, we discuss... Then for our main course we have our exclusive interview with the legendary Jim Hughart!!! You will know Hughart for his continued collaboration with Waits from The Heart of Saturday Night till Blue Valentine, with his iconic bass lines gracing tracks like "Barbershop", "Diamonds on My Windshield" and, of course, "Step Right Up". Our side dish, will be a fresh serving of Tom and Sam discussing every single song that Waits has released since the show came to its original hiatus (aka, after Bad As Me) three years ago. We cover collaborations with Marc Ribot, Keith Richards and the incredible David Letterman performance. Finally, for dessert, Tom & Sam will continue their explorations into Waits' own personal top 10 albums and films. This time Tom tackles the 1965 album, Solo Monk by Thelonious Monk and Sam explores Charles Laughton's 1955 film, "The Night of the Hunter".
