If God is holy, then He can't sin. If God can't sin, then He can't sin against you. If He can't sin against you, shouldn't that make Him the most trustworthy being there is? I'm thrilled to have Jackie Hill Perry back on the podcast to share about her much anticipated book, “Holier Than Thou”. She walks us through Scripture, shaking the dust off of “holy” as we've come to know it and revealing it for what it really is: good news. As it turns out, God being “holier than thou” is actually the best news in the world, and it's the key to trusting Him. “Holiness is really abstract, but what does it have to do with me? The truth is it has everything to do with the way we live because the way we engage with the world around us is symptomatic of what we believe is true about God.” We also chat about how Jackie doesn't “mom alone,” about her growing family and the holy calling of motherhood. This is a powerful episode! Does understanding his holiness help you trust him more? Discuss: “We cannot allow our experiences to define God's nature.” Heather talks about how the first 5 years really matter and that the act of mothering is holy. Does that resonate with you? How does that change how you look at parenting in the little years?
The Christian faith is an exciting calling. A humbling calling. To be called to holiness. Life really is so very short and there is so much work to do. Not that God needs us for that work, but that we get to be a part of it!
“Integrity without humility becomes isolation dressed as virtue. The real work of leadership is holding the line—without drawing it between yourself and others.”-----------------You're the leader of a team, a company, a community or even 'only' your household: how do you manage to balance being a person of high morals, ethics, behavior, ie integrity without it turning into everything seeing and thinking of you as 'holier than thou', living up high on your horse? How do you make it relatable, connected, real, authentic and something people are inspired by and aspire to emulate? That's this week's episode. No more no less.Happy Learning!

Who are you to judge me? Only God can judge me!When Jesus told His followers "Do not judge." in Matthew 7:1 was he telling us that any moral statements on our part would be a sin? As a cultural shorthand to self-ingratiation is the command not to judge an open door to every moral failing in the name of love?I'm pretty sure we've lost the plot on this one. Even as far back as Tertullian and the early church fathers, this command by Jesus has created controversies. But the command is clear. So why all the fuss?Text us now. A Clare Green Party representative claims the Government's "holier than thou" approach to fracked gas will only result in greater reliance on US imports. It comes as Shannon LNG, which is seeking to build a liquefied natural gas terminal in the Shannon Estuary, has been given the green light for a power plant and battery energy storage system.

We have been revisiting the important ways the Bible calls us to take holiness seriously. Listen in as Pastor Dom wraps up the series by guiding us to see how the gift of God's grace is meant to shape our longing for holiness.
Not everyone "gets it" Not everyone understands how laziness is the key to success, how procrastinating with purpose is more effective then going "no holds barred' Not everyone thinks it's possible to sit on the couch all day and actually make a living. Not everyone will support you in your lazy lifestyle. They'll throw at you classic lines such as: • You're not doing ANYTHING with your life. • Working at home is NEVER going to get you anywhere • Why don't you get a REAL job? The truth is, these people are suffering. They're unhappy with their 9-5 job. They hate their boss. They hate waking up Monday Morning, and they hate the fact that they NEED their coffee fix in order to function at said job. And you know what they say, misery loves company. They see you, all cozy and relaxed on the couch doing whatever it is you love, and think to themselves "that's not fair" Yet instead of building a lazy lifestyle for themselves they instead criticize it and make it out to be the Devil. They get trapped in their own Ego. The Ego tries to convince a person that what they're doing is more right and better. It causes them to deny their own flaws and choose a path of obligation over desire. It's the fuel behind the "Holier Than Thou" attitude. It's what keeps a person doing what is expected of him/her, to be liked and approved, rather than being honest about what they actually want to do. Look, I don't necessarily have a problem with someone working a 9 to 5 job. If they like it, more power to them. I do have a problem, however, with the people that work a 9 to 5 job and complain about it, without doing something about it. Anyway, there's really no point in arguing with these people. They're so far gone brainwashed that they're not going to change their minds, not by force anyway. The best way to convince them they're wrong is to just ignore them and do your own thing, man. After all, inaction speaks louder than words :D But they might just write you off as "lucky". Luck isn't a factor as much as patience, but I digress. In that case you might want to plant little "seeds of doubt" about their whole work hard mindset. You don't want to argue or debate. Just remain calm and ask questions like: How hard do you think coal miners work? How much money do you think they make? How much harder do you think they should have to work to become a successful a billionaire? The seed you're planting here is that the people who work the HARDEST, most labor intensive jobs, aren't becoming billionaires. And perhaps success has a little more to do with it than hard work. The goal is to change their mind without forcing them to do so. The goal is to get them to reach that conclusion on their own. Either way, don't let it get to you. Abide and do your own thing, man, regardless of what people tell you you should be doing. As we continue our series on Holiness, we ask the question, ‘How do we actually become holy'? While it's always tempting to understand growing in holiness as something that happens away from others, the Bible points us to a kind of holiness that means a radical movement towards outsiders, the community of the church, and even those who've offended us.
The Bible describes God as being Holy, Holy, Holy. This is important, but just as important are God's gracious ways when He reveals His holiness to us, His frail creation. Listen in as Pastor Dom explores the doctrine of God's holiness, and the importance of our honesty when dealing with our lack of holiness and our tendency to tolerate hypocrisy.
Let's admit holiness is a not a topic we like talking about. One reason for this is we've lost the rich biblical promises related to a correct understanding of holiness. If you've ever been tempted to pretend or have seen others act like hypocrites, you've wondered about holiness. Listen in as Pastor Dom introduces our new teaching series on God's invitation to take holiness seriously.

This week, we begin a new series on Church Words – those funny words you mostly only hear around the church. This week's word is holiness and its closely related word, sanctification. What does it mean to be holy without coming across as Holier-Than-Thou? What is the process to become holy people of God? Pastor David unpacks that for us in this week's sermon.

In this episode of The Black Lotus Podcast, The Black Lotus had the pleasure of bringing on Solomon Burns, a rising real-estate agent from the Bay Area representing Sterling Homes. We delved into crucial topics that shed light on the experiences of the black community and explored the intersection of real estate and social issues. To start our conversation, we took a deep dive into the far-reaching impact of the market crash of 2008 and its disproportionate effect on black individuals and families. Through our thought-provoking analysis, we unraveled the systemic factors that contributed to this disparity or assets lost, challenging conventional narratives and uncovering essential insights. Continuing our discourse, we explored the perception of blackness beyond harmful stereotypes. It was essential for us to break free from these narrow confines and cultivate a more comprehensive understanding of black identity, embracing the diversity and richness that exists within our community. Moreover, we strongly advocated for active engagement within the black community, emphasizing the importance of each individual being connected to a cause that uplifts and empowers. Finally, we concluded the episode with a focus on financial tips and advice, offering practical insights to help our listeners navigate the realm of real estate and make informed decisions for their financial well-being. Solomon Burns shared his expertise and provided valuable guidance to empower our listeners on their journey toward economic stability and prosperity. Hey Curlfriends! Just want to stress once more that these are our personal opinions, but if the shoe fits thats YO problem hunny
This week, Jackie Hill Perry joins us on the pod! And really, that's probably all we need to say to convince you to listen. But in case you've been living under a rock, Jackie is a speaker, a poet, a hip-hop artist, the author of Gay Girl, Good God, and most recently, the author of Holier Than Thou. On this episode, Jackie sits down with Keith, and honestly, you may have a hard time keeping up with the wealth of wisdom she drops. Listen as the two discuss a wide range of topics: What's encouraging (and discouraging) to her about the church right now? Is she into politics at all? Why did she leave Twitter (but not Instagram)? Why do black and white Christians vote so differently? Did her homosexual desires change when she came to faith? How does she feel about her celebrity Christian status? Why did she recently renounce the enneagram? What's her parenting style and how will she handle it if her kids wander away from the faith? Trust us: You just
Happy New Year! I cannot believe we are entering another year! Welcome to the very first episode of The Happy Hour in 2023. It may be a little early in the year to declare this, but my conversation today is probably going to be one of my favorite episodes when I do a “2023 year in review” in December! The team and I thought about doing something different to start the new by letting my dear friend Jackie Hill Perry interview me. I think we all know who Jackie is, but if you're not familiar, I'm delighted to introduce you! Jackie is a wife and mom, the author of Gay Girl Good God and Holier Than Thou, co-host of the Thirty Minutes with The Perrys podcast alongside her husband Preston, and a gifted preacher. I have never been interviewed on my show but this was so much fun!Jackie puts me in the hot seat, for sure! She's asking all the questions and she does not hold back. We talk about me preaching for the first time in a church on a Sunday morning. We discuss the topic of women in leadership, as well as my obsession with watching “Sister Wives.” I even get very vulnerable about something that until this conversation, I had only shared with five people. You will definitely want to push play to hear what I share. Jackie leaves us with great wisdom with the reminder that God's ‘no' is not mean. It's time we dispel the myth that homeschooling done "right" equals perfection. Methods don't make the man (or the woman), and that's not where our focus should be anyway. Check your arrogance at the door and take a listen... Is your homeschool schedule a mess already? Let me help! Take my class: Creating a Homeschool Schedule You Love! It will help you build a homeschool schedule that works WITH you and your unique family and circumstances!
Can conservatives discuss important issues without our own form of virtue signaling — denigrating those who disagree with us on almost anything? If we take pride in being more conservative than others (aka holier than thou), how can we build a movement that brings people along on the spectrum of "right" thinking? Bill Whittle and Alfonzo Rachel bring analysis of the news in the context of enduring values twice weekly, thanks to our Members. Erin talks to Kim (not to be confused with Kimbaaaaly) from the 90 Day Fiance Cray Cray podcast about the final episode of this season's 90 Day: Before The 90 Days PLUS part one of The Couples Tell All. Kim & Erin are both confused and shocked by the growing love they have for Hamza and Memphis. But they are not at all shocked that Bible Ben enters the Tell All with his Holier-Than-Thou attitude, calling Kimbaaaaly a "lion" who's chasing Sojaboy like a "gazelle." WHAT. THE. EFF. Please calm down, sir. Welcome to our LAST episode of season 4! Today, thanks to the help of author, poet, and Bible teacher Jackie Hill Perry, we are going to talk about moving from basic to holy. In short, holiness is doing things that please God. It's what you do with your time and your actions. It is living to please God-and it bears fruit! You live holy because you are motivated by your relationship with and love for your heavenly Father. Of all the goals we have for our life, the most important is to pursue holiness because it is God's goal for our life. If we truly love God we will commit to making holiness the primary purpose of our life. I was excited to have JHP on the show. As always, I LOVE giving away some of my favorite resources to podcast listeners. When you share this podcast on social media and tag @jackiehillperry and @biancaolthoff to be entered to win one of five books from her newest book, Holier Than Thou.
