Tom Doyle is Partner and Head of NAV Financing at Pemberton Asset Management, a role he has held for over three years. He previously held a similar role at 17Capital. Our conversation takes us on a tour through the evolution of private markets, the role of innovation in it and some of the dynamics that have driven NAV financing. We dig in to the evolving nature of client demand and understanding of some of these strategies and look to parallels such as the development of secondary markets in terms of the speed of acceptance and normalization of some private equity strategies.Moving then to career progression, Tom discusses some of the key figures who inspired him throughout his career, including some leaders who taught him how to analyze complex situations, and think critically. We end with the pursuit of excellence in delivery of client interactions, and the power to "elevate" every interaction, every pitch, every client experience.Thank you Eagle Point Credit and Benefit Street Partners for supporting this series! With over $12 billion of AUM, Eagle Point Credit Management is a premier investment firm focused on generating strong returns for its clients through sourcing, evaluating and executing investments in CLOs, Portfolio Debt Securities and other credit investments that it believes shave the potential to outperform their respective markets generally.Benefit Street Partners is a leading global alternative credit asset manager offering clients investment solutions across a broad range of complementary credit strategies, including direct lending, special situations, structured credit, high yield bonds, leveraged loans and commercial real estate debt and equity. For this episode we're joined in person by the delightful Siân Pattenden, author of the Agatha Bilke and Magical Peppers children's book series. We start by asking our guest about her early years as a child actor and teenage playwright before she describes the fanzines she published with her pal Nicky Fijalkowska. We hear how these helped to get her foot in the door at Smash Hits, the million-selling pop bi-weekly she joined in 1989. Quotes from classic Hits pieces she wrote are interspersed with hilarious recollections of working alongside Tom Doyle and Sylvia Patterson.  From "Ver Hits" we move on to the more indie-tastic Select and Siân's part in the Britpop wars – with special attention to Elastica, Jarvis Cocker and a pulped July 1994 issue that contained her guide to "legal highs". After reminiscences of a stint teaching music writing at the London School of Journalism, Siân explains the genesis of her 1998 book How to Make It in the Music Business. Mention of a 2007 Guardian Blogs piece bemoaning the "boy-rock" template established by the Beatles leads into reflections on the all-girl Bangles, subject of a new authorised biography by two-time RBP podcast guest Jennifer Otter Bickerdike. The desperately sad passing of David Johansen prompted us to dig out and digitise a 1994 audio interview with the sometime New York Dolls frontman. We hear three clips of David talking very amusingly to Q's Mat Snow – and in the process pay tribute to the singer and his fellow Dolls.  After Jasper marks the 70th anniversary of the death of Charlie Parker with quotes from the late Richard Cook's magnificent 1995 piece about the bebop genius, we pay additional tribute to jazz-funk vibraphonist Roy Ayers and neo-soul queen Angie Stone. Many thanks to special guest Siân Pattenden. Visit her website at sianpattenden.co.uk for more info on her books, art and music. Pieces discussed: En Vogue: Dawn! Maxine! Terry! Cindy!, At Home in L.A. with Paula Abdul!, This is the Future: Elastica — the Bash Street Kids, Meet the Sheatles, The Bangs: Not Just Another Girl Group, The Bangles: a Female Fab Four?, The Bangles: Globe Trotters, The Bangles: Eternal Flame, The New York Dolls' David Johansen (1994), Charlie Parker: The Prince of Wails, Roy Ayers, Angie Stone: Precious and Pure, Dancing in New York Emmylou Harris: Emmylou on the Verge and The Swede Smell of Success.

Patton takes Hesse's triptych and title to structure the poem in three, imaginatively exploring Hesse's name, work and life, from Patton's first memory of hearing the artist's name to once assisting Hesse's partner, artist Tom Doyle. For Patton, the encounter with this work becomes a point of departure to play with language just as Hesse experimented with materials, and to reflect on acts of violence, from Hesse's experience of fleeing from Nazi Germany in her childhood, to current events today. The text was commissioned as part of our exhibition Close Looking: Collection Studies from the Roberts Institute of Art at Cromwell Place, on show from the 22 November to 3 December 2023.The exhibition is about close looking and reading. A woman with strong convictions is a woman who will have moral courage.  In today's episode, Karen and Joanne Doyle discuss the challenges that Christian women face in a culture that is increasingly hostile towards Christianity. They explore the doubts and assumptions that hold us back from being authentic Christian witnesses and the importance of being aware of our thoughts and feelings in order to shape our actions. Joanne and her husband Tom Doyle started a ministry called Uncharted which aims to inspire believers to join in God's great harvest among Jews and Muslims. Joanne has been on various national TV and radio programs and leads expeditions for women overseas. Karen and Joanne discuss the importance of being authentic Christian witnesses in order to help people come to know Jesus and make Him known.Learn more about The Blue Cord at www.TheBlueCord.orgPurchase The Blue Cord book at: https://shop.churchleaders.com/products/the-blue-cord?_pos=1&_sid=c7e502826&_ss=rSupport The Blue Cord: https:www.iHOPEministries.org/giveTimestamps00:00:00 "Exploring Doubts and Assumptions that Hold Us Back from Being Authentic Christian Witnesses with Joanne Doyle"00:03:00 JoAnn Doyle Discusses Bible Translation with Bedouin Women in Israel00:05:00 Boldness in Sharing Faith00:08:00 Confronting Assumptions and Moving Past Doubt00:10:00 Overcoming Assumptions to Share Faith Boldly00:14:00 Sharing the Gospel and Overcoming Hesitations00:17:00 Women's Spiritual Influence in Islamic Culture00:19:00 Being a Spiritual Gatekeeper00:23:00 The Impact of Spiritual Gatekeeping and the Holy Domino EffectHelpful Resources: “The Blue Cord" by Karen Bejjani Find it wherever books are sold online. The Blue Cord Small Group Discipleship Study. Join the iHOPE Community. Tom Doyle has been one of my favourite British rock critics for as long as I remember. A regular contributor to Mojo and the forever missed Q, his book, The Glamour Chase, about the late Associates singer Billy Mackenzie, remains one of the finest bits of writing about music that I've ever read. And now he's got a new book out, Running Up That Hill: 50 Visions of Kate Bush, recently released via the great Nine Eight books. And because I like Kate Bush and I like Tom, I thought, “I'll ask Tom to come on the podcast and have a little chat with me about Kate Bush”. He said “yes”. Which was very nice of him. And so I hope you enjoy listening to this short conversation that we had the other day as much as I enjoyed having it. And if you do, and you like what you hear, please do go buy Tom's book!(Pssst.
