Mike Evans and Brandon Stokely with Mark Schlereth enter the third hour with Enter Sandman as they talk about the best entrance themes in sports. Cuckold Mike tells Denver why he’s rooting for the team that just bounced the Avs from the playoffs. Stoke tells us all about his experience shooting a Super Bowl commercial with Peyton Manning before Stink hops on to vent about the Nuggets’ blowout loss in Game 2. Stink and Stoke break down an NFL coach’s scouting report on Pat Bryant. The guys end the third hour with a workday miracle, a bountiful harvest of three boxes of donuts falling into our laps.

Let Brent know at baxe@syracuse.com Brent then chats with ESPN's Anish Shroff about the upcoming NCAA men's lacrosse tournament and if Syracuse has what it takes to win the 2025 national championship (with a little Sopranos talk mixed in). Dave and Coop dive into another spirited edition of Pick One, debating whether The Who's latest “farewell” tour is truly their last, and comparing iconic anthems "Enter Sandman" and "Country Roads." They imagine road-tripping with Alton Brown or Guy Fieri, make tough calls on Knicks-Celtics playoff predictions, and settle on their favorite Law & Order series. Plus, wild cards like receiving mystery seeds in the mail and a fantasy gladiator battle between Charles Ingalls and Highway to Heaven's Jonathan Smith round out the fun. It's classic Hotline mayhem!

The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
Send us a textStep behind the curtain of the music industry with Jay Franze and Tiffany Mason as they blend personal stories, industry expertise, and entertaining banter in this captivating episode. Jay shares a touching memory of introducing his family to rock band Hailstorm, revealing how lead singer Lizzy Hale made a special connection with his daughter that continued years later. The hosts then offer their unfiltered take on Hailstorm's new single "Darkness Always Wins," appreciating the band's talent while questioning the experimental direction of this particular track. The conversation naturally flows through a landscape of music news, from Dave Grohl's surprise Coachella appearance to Billy Idol's collaboration with Avril Lavigne and Alice Cooper's reunion with his original band after five decades. Throughout these discussions, Jay's deep industry knowledge shines through, particularly when he breaks down what makes truly great music: the perfect combination of songwriting, performance, and production. What truly sets this episode apart is the hosts' chemistry and willingness to get personal. Their "Question of the Day" segment asking for the best songs to "make whoopee to" generates hilarious responses from listeners, ranging from Nora Jones's romantic ballads to Metallica's aggressive "Enter Sandman." This playful interaction perfectly balances the more technical discussion where Jay explains different mixing philosophies, comparing the clean precision of engineers like Mike Shipley with the rawer "leave it all in" approach of others.Whether you're a music industry professional, an aspiring artist, or simply someone who appreciates the stories behind the songs, this episode delivers entertainment, education, and inspiration. As Tiffany reminds us at the end: "Every track you love was once just an idea. Don't be afraid to chase yours."LinksJay Franze: https://JayFranze.comVirtually You: https://www.virtuallyyouva.com/ Support the show

On the 55th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, comedian and podcaster Don Jamieson, review the 1991 legendary album by Metallica, the self-titled album known as the "Black Album." The "Black Album" was Metallica's fifth studio album. It propelled Metallica from a small, but dedicated fan base to superstardom. Led by frontman, main lyricist and rhythm guitarist James Hetfied, polarizing drummer Lars Ulrich, guitarist extraordinaire Kirk Hammet and bassist Jason Newsted. The album features five singles including a couple ballads, which were unheard of previously and the now classic, Enter Sandman. Although they did have a video for the previous album's single, "One", Metallica really utilized MTV and the music video format to propel the "Black Album." The album made it to Number 1 on the US Billboard charts and has now gone 16X platinum, making it not only Metallica's biggest selling album, but one of the biggest selling album in history. The album was produced by Bob Rock and although it may have been a tumultuous relationship, which was documented, the result cannot be denied. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Tom's pick. So tune in to see if the album satisfies the purist or the newbie Metallica fan and if it makes them Rock Hard! Although Diamond loves the song "Enter Sandman," she's always been too dubious of heavy metal to venture further into Metallica's catalog. But we face our fears here on At First Listen, and challenge ourselves (we are so brave). So on this episode of the podcast, we're digging into Metallica's seminal 1991 self-titled album — affectionately referred to as the Black Album.Does Diamond deem Metallica a one-hit-wonder or will she find some sleeper standouts on the Black Album? We had the pleasure of interviewing The Warning over Zoom video! The rock sister-trio from Monterrey, Mexico, The Warning, proudly present their much-anticipated new full-length album, Keep Me Fed [LAVA/Republic Records], out now! Listen HERE. Physical products are available at RepublicRecords.com, featuring CDs, vinyl, t-shirts, and fan packs [CD/t-shirt or vinyl/t-shirt]. Today the band also unveiled their new music video for “Six Feet Deep,” which made its global broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU, MTV Biggest Pop and across MTV's global network of channels, as well as on the Paramount Times Square billboards. About the record, the band commented, “This new album is the result of our rawest emotions and most meaningful connections with people we've gotten to know and work with these past few years. We're incredibly proud of this music and we can't wait for you to make it yours. From our hearts to you, this is Keep Me Fed.”Keep Me Fed finds the group at the peak of their powers. Over the course of thirteen tracks, the album balances stadium-size hooks with airtight riffing and thunderous rhythms. In talking about the story behind the decision to name the album Keep Me Fed, “throughout the whole process, the work was consuming us,” says Pau. “By impacting everything we did, the album kept us fed both creatively and personally. We're inviting other people to participate and consume it too.”Pre-release singles featured “MORE” (performed at the 2023 MTV VMAs [Watch HERE]), “S!CK” which climbed to Top 8 at Active Rock and #8 on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Chart, music videos for “Burnout” & Spanish track “Qué Más Quieres” premered with MTV, as well as “Hell You Call A Dream” and “Automatic Sun” which are already fan favorites to hear live. Revolver applauded, “Like the Mexican sister-trio's previous output, it's undeniably infectious,” and Classic Rock hailed it as a “shot-in-the-arm of propulsive, fire-spitting hard rock.” Rolling Stone pegged it as one of “All The Songs You Need To Know This Week.” The trio will embark on the ‘Keep Me Fed' US headline tour this September & October, making stops in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, and more, before joining Evanescence and Halestorm on tour in Canada. Check out the full confirmed itinerary below. Fans can purchase tickets here: https://thewarningband.comThus far in 2024, The Warning performed at ShipRocked in the Caribbean, Mexico's prestigious Pa'l Norte & Vive Latino Festivals, sold-out their April EU/UK headline tour, just wrapped their first headlining tour of Japan that included a show with Band-Maid, and will return overseas to EU/UK for summer festivals. Looking ahead to 2025, the band sold-out the 10k capacity Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City in less than 48 hours. The Warning are as hungry as ever on Keep Me Fed, and they're about to sink their teeth into 2024. Catch them on tour in the US this fall.ABOUT THE WARNING:The Warning draw strength and power from a lifetime of sisterhood and music. The Mexico-born sister trio—Daniela “Dany” [guitar, lead vocals, piano], Paulina “Pau” [drums, vocals, piano], and Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal [bass, piano, backing vocals]—have logged thousands of miles on the road, generated hundreds of millions of streams, and left countless fans in awe. All of this tireless work and dedication has shaped and sharpened their sound with knifepoint precision, arming alternative anthems with universally catchy hooks and an uncompromising hard rock kick. The girls have devoted themselves to a shared dream since their childhood in Monterrey, Mexico. They initially made waves with a string of independent releases, paving the way for their acclaimed 2022 full-length offering ERROR. Between performing alongside Muse, Foo Fighters, Guns N' Roses, Royal Blood, The Pretty Reckless, Three Days Grace and Imagine Dragons, the band ignited MTV's Extended Play Stage at the 2023 MTV VMAs. Representative of their cultural impact, Pepsi even notably chose them as the face of Pepsi Black in Mexico. Moreover, they emerged as the rare force who could comfortably appear in features by Vanity Fair, People, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour as well as on Metallica's star-studded Blacklist compilation—placing their cover of “Enter Sandman” [with Alessia Cara] shoulder-to-shoulder with contributions from Ghost, St. Vincent, Chris Stapleton, IDLES and Weezer. The Warning embrace their destiny on their 2024 full-length album, Keep Me Fed [LAVA/Republic Records] out now. The album was introduced by singles “MORE,” “S!CK” “Hell You Call A Dream”, “Qué Más Quieres”, “Automatic Sun”, and “Burnout”.We want to hear from you! We've already tackled Side One of our '86 HEAD-TO-HEAD DEATH MATCH featuring MOP & RIB (“Puppets & Blood”), and now it's time to go through Side Two in order to reach our final verdict. As usual, there were difficult decisions to be made, and the deliberation was not easy, but we did it, and the only thing we can really say that will make any sense at all is that it's really hard to compare two such incomparable albums that are as equally incredible yet vastly unique as tacos and spaghetti. Get ready to find out how “left-handed guitar picks” can impact your playing and discover the mythical metal legend known as “Ozzy Dio”. It's time to learn which song is “Slayer's Enter Sandman” and become more familiarized with some of the more commonly used “country sayings” in the South that may or may not also apply to “fruit flies”. In short, “don't be a fricker” and JOIN US for the nail-biting conclusion to our '86 DEATH MATCH featuring Side Two of MASTER OF PUPPETS & REIGN IN BLOOD. [originally published on Patreon Oct 26, 2021] Today I return to looking at novels as spycraft, particularly Lewis Carroll, JM Barrie, and HG Wells. I go through Carroll's connections to Oxford, his hobbies and predilections, his relationship with the Liddell family, and the enduring fixation Carroll's work has for pedophiles to this day. Then, I look at JM Barrie, his ties to the literary scene and the throne, his relationship with the Llewelyn Davies family, and the fate of those children. To wrap it up, I discuss several of HG Wells more interesting works, including the World Set Free, the Open Conspiracy, and the New World Order. You might have known some of what I talk about today, but I'm certain there are some salient details that biographers seem to like to leave out. songs: Wonderland by T*ylor Sw*ft Enter Sandman by Met*llica New World Order by Meg*deth the Eve of the War from Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds
