This episode discusses the experience that Gina and I had attending Daytona Bike Week right before the you know what hit the fan regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. We originally had plans to see the Daytona 200 and American Flat Track TT double header races that weekend at Daytona International Speedway, but for obvious reasons those plans did not quite pan out. So, we made the best of the situation, had a great trip anyway, and got to experience something we otherwise would not have. I also talk about meeting Todd McNabney from Heroic Racing Apparel in person and buying a pair of Forma race boots from him at a great price. I also discuss the #RideItOut campaign that some people are backing and my approach to motorcycle riding in these challenging times. Finally, I spend some time discussing a topic near and dear to my heart…and one that a couple months ago took up quite a bit of my time…and that was my “Quest to Find a Helmet that Fits Properly.” I have written a blog article about my experience discovering that the helmets I already owned did not fit properly, and how I set about getting a new helmet with a proper fit. That article will be released on my web site soon and will probably be the transcript for an upcoming podcast episode on the same topic. Jason Weigandt provides a check-in on the American Flat Track success story. In 2017, a sport that was on the verge of withering to nothing found another gear, with some radical changes ushering in steady growth. Now factory rides are here, as well as some new young stars battling the established champions. Heck, they're even training with Aldon Baker these days! The best part, though? While the sport has grown more professional and sophisticated, the riders are still new to this process, so they're pretty open and honest in interviews. So Weigandt hit up defending Super Twins Champion Briar Bauman, Singles Class sensation Shayna Texter (the Red Bull KTM "girl who can beat the guys" who is also Bauman's fiancée), and 2019 Singles Class Champion Dalton Gauthier, who is moving to the big class for 2020. The new season starts this Saturday night at the Daytona TT. Here's the bench-racing ammo you need if you watch the race, which will air on NBCSN after Monster Energy Supercross from Indianapolis. The Racer X Exhaust podcast is presented by Yoshimura.

Welcome to episode 169. On this episode we discuss some things, Jae admits something, Wiggins rants (for half the show!) We also announce winners of the Solstice Slam. Stick around and listen. This show is brought to you with generous support from listeners like you! If you are interested in supporting the show, head over to patreon.com/creativeriding 1. Let's get a few things out of the way. Here are some news snippets including Arlen Ness' passing, Utah is legal to lane split, and I went to a motoshow over the weekend. 2. Social Media - Thanks to the abundant rains, recently there was a "super bloom" of wild flowers in California - some of them our protected state flower, the California Golden Poppy. The blooms drew thousands of sightseers to the wilderness, but not to enjoy the flowers... Instead, thanks to social media like Instagram and features like Geo Tagging, throngs of humans trampled, sat on, and otherwise flattened the orange flowers to get the perfect Social Media post. Park rangers worked over time to keep people on the trails, but were ignored and outnumbered as people waded into the flora to snap pics. This brings up issues that moto riders face as well. What happens when your favorite spot or ride destination gets poached by riders looking for that perfect pic? We also talk about why so many offroaders show their location as "Your Mom's House". 3.Crashes - Jae talks about her recent hit-and-run and why she couldn't avoid it. She also got popped by the cops for something, and Utah riders need to pay attention. 4. Chris Wiggins brings us American Flat Track racing news from the Daytona TT and ATL Short Track events. He pronounces all the names wrong and breaks out into all the tangents. Learn about the Hooligan struggle and, why is the man always out to keep the Hooligan down? 5. For the last 2 minutes we announce the Winners of the Solstice Slam!!! Congrats to all who entered. Your prizes will go out this weekend. This is your chance to submit a story in your own words, a song, some rad artwork, racing stories, crash stories, ride/camping stories, bike builds... what ever it is. Judges will decide the top three again this year, and prizes will be given!! Use your hipster name in the subject line. Don't know what your hipster name is? Listen to episode #48 or read below: The Hipster Name Game. Every hipster has a radical street name that can only be achieved by being born into a gentrified family, or being named by super posh and/or urban hipster parents. If you weren’t lucky enough to be named Eustacious Brenneforth, then the Hipster Name Game is for you. Here are the rules: 1. Take your first name and throw that disgusting piece of shit in the trash. Unless you were named by one of the aforementioned social groups, then your name is probably something like Michael Hansen, or Erica Price. That just ain’t hipster. 2. Your middle name is you new first name. But not your stock middle name, because Stock is for Squares. ;) a. If your middle name is one syllable, drop the last letter: Lee = Le, Kay = Ka, etc. b. If your middle name is two syllables, drop the last two letters: Tara = Ta, Jerald = Jera, etc. c. If your name is three syllables or more, drop the first syllable entirely: Christopher = Topher, Kimberly = Berly, etc. 3. Your new last name is your bike’s name. If your bike doesn’t have a name, then it’s market name will do. If your bike’s market name is letters and numbers, then you can always look at Euro/Asian markets. They usually have actual names (CBR in USA = Fireblade in UK/Europe). Perhaps you are a robot and a letter/number combo suits you. Then Stev RnineT doesn’t seem so bad, my robotic friend. contact the show: creativeridingpodcast@gmail.com askwiggz@gmail.com sources: https://www.infinitiusa.com/now/technology/vc-turbo-engine http://www.americanflattrack.com/
