Bei der Stichwahl zur polnischen Präsidentschaft am vergangenen Sonntag hat der nationalpopulistische Kandidat Karol Nawrocki die Mehrheit der Stimmen erhalten. Damit scheinen die Reformvorhaben des Premierministers Donald Tusk weiterhin unrealisierbar, eine Rückkehr Polens zu Demokratie und Rechtsstaat scheint nicht in Sicht. Die Europäische Union hatte nach Tusks Wahlsieg 2023 Gelder für Polen freigegeben, die zuvor aufgrund der Politik der rechten PiS-Regierung eingefroren waren. Auch in Brüssel wird nun diskutiert, wie es weitergehen kann. Was war ausschlaggebend für Nawrockis Wahlsieg - und wer ist dieser Historiker, der früher einmal Boxer und Hooligan war und dem zahlreiche Skandale anhängen? Wie tickt eigentlich die polnische Jugend? Was bedeutet der Sieg des EU-Gegners Nawrocki für die zukünftige Unterstützung der Ukraine und Polens Verhältnis zu Russland? Wie sortiert sich Polens Rechte in die Parteienlandschaft der europäischen Rechtsparteien ein? Er lehnt Abtreibung und Rechte für Homosexuelle genauso ab, wie er gegen "illegale Migration" wettert. Er ist ein Fan von Donald Trump und poltert gegen die EU. Und er sucht den Schulterschluss mit den Rechtsextremen. Nawrocki dürfte die liberale Regierungskoalition in ernste Schwierigkeiten bringen. Stürzt sie darüber, wäre der Versuch, die Rückkehr des Rechtspopulismus in Polen zu stoppen, endgültig gescheitert.  Welche Folgen die Präsidentschaft von Nawrocki für Polen, Europa und die Ukraine haben könnte, diskutieren Alice Bota und Michael Thumann in dieser neuen "Ostcast"-Folge. Jake Lewis's 2024 MotoAmerica season was what you could call sneaky good. Until you look at the results, you probably don't know that Lewis ended the season ranked fourth in Supersport (with four podiums and a win), third in the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship (with a win), and seventh in the Mission King Of The Baggers title chase. And Lewis has kept that momentum going with an exhilarating victory in the second of two Hooligan races at Daytona International Speedway to start his season, a season that will see him racing again in Hooligan and King Of The Baggers as well as Supersport - this time on a Altus Motorsports Yamaha YZF-R9.
