This episode our friend Nick Pingel joins us to chat about how he first discovered the Metalheads Podcast, the power of underwear hugs and what the metal scene is like in Iowa. We also reminisce about our time at the recent Decibel Metal and Beer Fest in Philly and break down Metal News, New Releases, What We're Listening to and Picks from the Crypt. Plus, in one of the most personal segments ever recorded on the podcast, we reveal the real life stories behind our Top 5 Albums That Make Us Feel Nostalgic
In this episode of the Endless Metal Podcast, Markisan and Ben are excited to talk to Vince Verkay, drummer and founding member of death doom masters: EVOKEN. In a two-part interview, we begin by talking to Vince about his earliest exposure to heavy music, playing drums, the origin story of Evoken, and the band's very recent success. Although Evoken isn't a full-time job, the band has hit a number of personal milestones including performing at Roadburn with Winter, playing the Decibel Metal & Beer Fest, and finding Profound Lore, a label that band truly appreciates. While Evoken has not released an album since 2018's World War I themed masterpiece Hypnogogia, things are about to change quick! In the fall of 2025, Evoken is set to release a brand new album that is explores both new sonic terrain and harkens back to a more aggressive rage found on beloved earlier records such as The Antithesis of Light. We also share some laughs and great conversation. So sit back and enjoy a pint of Schadenbrew, a full-bodied, blood-red Belgian dubbel, inspired by Evoken and brewed by Atlas Brew Works!
This episode we talk with writer, editor and avid Metalheads Podcast listener, Holly Interlandi, about writing Gene Simmons' Dominatrix and her Last Song comic books, her time as editor on Famous Monsters of Filmland, and how she got into heavy music. Holly also reveals the 3 Albums that Would Help People Get to Know Her Better, then helps us break down the latest in Metal News, New Releases and What We've Been Listening To. Plus, Picks from the Crypt and Top 5 Bands We Want to Play at Decibel Metal & Beer Fest Philly.
He's back! Literally the day after the Metalheads recorded their just released 4+ hour episode 150, 10th anniversary podcast! The inspiration of this podcast was not only huge for rebooting Endless Metal but for appreciating how metal is something much more than music--namely, forging lasting friendships. While not a great photo--a lot of blue light-- you can see Ben and Jeff with Markisan at the April 2024 Decibel Metal & Beer Fest. While it was our first time meeting person, we're excited to join Markisan and all the boys next year's fest! This cast features some of Markisan's most memorable moments on air with the boys, our shared love for the new Glassing record From the Other Side of the Mirror--we include the track "Nominal Will" at the end of this episode. We turn next to favorite concerts and merch at mid-year! A really fun free-flowing discussion. So crack open a 66.6 ABV DDDDDDHHHH Moonshine Barrel Aged IPA and enjoy!
This episode we are joined again by David Gregor of Morta Skuld. David talks about the latest album, Creation Undone, the band's tour in South America, Alice Cooper, and his love of pizza (as well as what make acceptable toppings.) We also talk about the recent Decibel Metal & Beer Fest in Philadelphia, and we learn about the origin story for TR's newest nickname, The Linchpin. And of course all the usual segments: News, New Releases, What We Are Listening To, T-Shirt and Beer Check and finally, Picks from the Crypt.
Getting back to why we created this cast in the first place: We're great friends who love metal and digressions about books and other things on our minds! We zoom, drink a beer, and chat it up. Always enjoyable! This chat was in anticipation of the Decibel Magazine Tour 2024 with HULDER, DEVIL MASTER, WORM and NECROFIER on March 8 at Underground Arts in Philly. The picture for this episode is of Ben and Jeff at the venue in full metal pose. We'll talk about that show and the recent Decibel Metal and Beer Festival on future casts! Music for this episode is "Serpent Drug Cult Mythology" from the album "Death Rituals" by Swamp Witch.
This episode we welcome master artist and musician Chuck BB to the podcast. Chuck is the creator of Stone Cold Lazy, a comic strip found in the pages of Decibel Magazine every month, and he co-created and illustrated the epic, Eisner Award-winning graphic novel Black Metal. We talk with Chuck about making comics, getting into metal, creating art for the game company Exploding Kittens and crafting his solo black metal album, Nosk of the Void. After the interview, Chuck helps us break down the latest in Metal News, then we dig into New Releases and What We've Been Listening To. We also give our initial impressions of the recent lineup announcement for the 2024 Decibel Metal and Beer Fest in Philly and we choose our favorite songs on Iron Maiden's Piece of Mind to celebrate the album's 40th anniversary. Plus, we fall down an 80s/90s action film hole, praising the punchery powers of Jean-Claude Van Damme and Ahnold, AND we count down our Top 5 Metal Album Covers of 2023. An explosive 5-hour flight with artist Chuck BB awaits you, dear metalheads. GET TO THE CHOPPA!
We're halfway through the year and you know what that means, dear metalheads... Our Top 25 Metal Albums at Mid-Year is here! 5+ hours of lists, libations and laughs! We're joined by our good friend Justin Riley, AKA the Dr. of Death Metal, as we count down our favorite records released between January and June. Plus, Will returns, delivering his classic caveman charm for the first 30 minutes before heading off to Atlas Brew Works to run a metal show. Fortunately, he leaves his list in the snuggable embrace of Matt, who reads each pick... as Will. This massive episode also features joke revisionism with Jay, George becoming a sexy billboard, Decibel Metal and Beer Fest memories, and an incredibly intelligent discussion on how some albums just hit us right in the nuts.
Keith sits down with Chris LoPorto to discuss Chris's early work in music, the formation of Can't Swim, recording the band's debut LP, signing with Pure Noise Records, their first tour of Europe, life during the pandemic, Can't Swim's 2023 LP "Thanks But No Thanks", dealing with internet negativity, what Chris does during his downtime, what's next for Can't Swim and more. We discuss what bands we're most excited to see, sift through the mighty beer list and talk about how the metal community is mostly fluffy puppies and kitties. We also dig into News, New Releases and What We've Been Listening to. Plus, our Top 5 Death Metal Bands that Have Debuted Since 2015.
This episode we kick things off with a roundtable discussion on which bands will be the next big hitters in metal. After using our old metal dick powers to predict the future of heavy music, we dive into News, New Releases and What We've Been Listening To. We also share our thoughts on the recently announced lineup for the 2023 Decibel Metal and Beer Fest in Philadelphia, and Jay locks Black Sabbath's Born Again and Motorhead's Another Perfect Day inside a bloody Metal Thunderdome. Plus, some of us may or may not spontaneously burst into song...
This week we begin our deep dive into "The Last Day," the new Night Demon single released as part of the Decibel Magazine Flexidisc Series in July 2022. "The Last Day" has been hailed as "Vysteria pt. 2" and vies for the title of thrashiest Night Demon song ever. In this episode, we dig into the origins of the song, beginning with a riff that Armand had during the writing of the third full-length Night Demon studio album. The guys explain why "The Last Day" did not fit within the concept of the album, why the song was left to die on the vine, and how it came to be resuscitated in December 2021 following Night Demon's appearance at the Decibel Metal and Beer Festival in Los Angeles, California. You will hear multiple demos tracing the song's wild evolution from humble beginnings to its finished form. Along the way, Night Demon offer several hints and details about the forthcoming third album. Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. What goes together better than beer and metal? Not much really. This week our guests are Sam and Michelle Riggins, owners of Cosmic Eye brewing in Lincoln Nebraska. Sam is a reformed musician, brewer, and passionate support of all things music...he's collaborated with metal podcasts, bands (like past guest Spotlights), and is even one of the partner breweries for the upcoming Decibel Metal and Beer fest. We talked to Sam and Michelle about founding a brewery, integrating metal into the branding (the name of the brewery comes from the lyrics of a Mastodon song, with a concept inspired by Black Sabbath), and even starting to run shows at the brewery in Lincoln. Michelle and Sam were nice enough to ship us a box of beer, so we did a little bit of a tasting during the episode, which ruled. As always, we also listened to some music!Cosmic Eye BrewingWeb: https://www.cosmiceye.beer/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cosmiceye.beer IG: https://www.instagram.com/cosmiceye.beer This Week's SubmissionsSmilinghttps://rebelwavesrecords.bandcamp.com/album/devourLucifer Star Machinehttps://luciferstarmachine.bandcamp.com/album/the-devils-breathAbysslookerhttps://abysslooker.bandcamp.com/track/maneaterLlamadenhttps://llamaden.bandcamp.com/album/llamadenBandcamp PickPremRockhttps://planetpremrock.bandcamp.com/track/remorse-feat-elucid-prod-by-fresh-kils-premrockBands! This week the city of brotherly love is reestablished in the borough of Brooklyn, New york as Steve’s big brother Matt joins us with a handful of east coast ales to throw into our tummy pails! A recent work trip to the hipster-laden neighborhoods of B-town resulted in a suitcase full of brews that we can’t get our hands on out in the good ol’ Califor-Nai-Ay including Interboro’s Premiere Double Dry Hoppped IPA and Other Half Brewing’s Dream Layers Oat Cream IPA and Feels Like Outer Space American Imperial (AKA Triple) IPA. These tasty suds are complimented by a bevy of brews news about recent review brewery, Trillium, and their employment woes as well as diving deep into their heavy metal-filled childhoods - leading all the way up to their recent visit to the Decibel Metal & Beer fest at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, where they crushed can releases from Hoof Hearted, Wake Brewing and a handful of others as their ears guzzled sick riffs with their noses inhaling dank spliffs! Let’s guzzle down and drink in the memories of these brothers from the same mother!
