Red and Jerry talk with Testament vocalist Chuck Billy about their show at Milwaukee Metal Fest. We had technical difficulties so the interview is shorter than usual .
Daarnaast is Master Killer de intro van onze podcast Tales From The Eastside. Zo verbinden we mensen. 2. Testament – More Than Meets The Eye (The Formation of Damnation, 2008) Er bestaat een stereotiep beeld van liefhebbers van metal, punk en hardcore. 3. Dus hij maakt de titel ‘Live For This' zeker waar. 4. No Guts No Glory benefietcover (2021) Ik wil Stichting No Guts No Glory graag onder de aandacht brengen. 5. 6. Zwaar Aanbevolen Boundaries - Turning Hate Into Rage (Death is little more, 2024) “Metal Business Club?
In the mid 80's, the Bay Area Thrash was taking off thanks to the likes of Exodus and Metallica. One band in particular, Legacy, which formed in 1983, would go on to sign a record deal, change singers, change their name and go onto become one of the most influential Bay Area Thrash bands. That band is Testament. In 1986, original vocalist Steve Souza left to join Exodus as a replacement for the fired Paul Baloff. At Souza's suggestion, Testament hired Chuck Billy as their new singer. With their lineup set, Testament would sign with Megaforce Records and release their debut album The Legacy in 1987. Since that time, Testament have released 13 studio albums, 4 live albums, 2 Eps and 5 compilations. On this episode, Chris and Kenneth Dean will choose 15 songs each from their 13 studio albums. Any songs duplicated automatically make the list. Whichever songs are not, they'll debate to see which make the final cut. Then they'll arrange them in concert setlist order for the Ultimate Testament Greatest Hits. “That's something you could remember to forget later…” One of the most profound things about heavy metal is its natural evolution over time. It's never forced and somehow everything just flows together with perfection, like some intelligently designed, supernaturally endowed, cosmic jigsaw puzzle. Similar to the way Pantera picked up the baton for metal in the early 1990's, LAMB OF GOD became the new “stop gap” for metal fans and the evolutionary “next wave” of extreme metal (a.k.a. the New Wave of American Heavy Metal (NWOAHM)) with their own unique brand of sonic vengeance containing the perfect blend of blistering speed, scalpel-like precision, and devastating ferocity. It's time everyone understands the vast differences between “bukkake and bulgogi” while discovering the “six scientific reasons” highlighting the “terrifying” similarities between elasmobranchology & gynecology. Never underestimate the persuasive appeal of the perfect “LinkedIn profile”, don't deny the power of “The Triangle”, and JOIN US as we go INSIDE THE METAL with one of the most brutally heavy bands ever to emerge from the Commonwealth of Virginia as we celebrate Richmond's own LAMB OF GOD. This week we look to the stars for inspiration for our show theme. Oh yeah! We are talking about bands that have rock stars in them: Supergroups and Offshoots. A band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. We dive into some of the more obscure supergroups and offshoots that didn't break with huge mainstream success or stay around very long. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members along with, Offshoots which are bands who contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. Our hope is that we turn you on to something new.Songs this week include:Chequered Past – “A World Gone Wild” from Chequered Past (1984)California Breed – “Midnight Oil” from California Breed (2014)BackBeat Band – “Rock & Roll Music” from BackBeat – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (1994)Brides Of Destruction – “Brace Yourself” from Brides Of Destruction (2004)Robin Trower - “Life On Earth” from BLT (1981)Down ‘N' Outz – “By Tonight” from My ReGeneration (2010)Metal Allegiance – “Wait Until Tomorrow” from Metal Allegiance (2015)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

There's no denying that the drummer in a band can radically impact (good or bad) the overall dimension, weight, and power of a band's sonic palette. And when that drummer is DAVE LOMBARDO, and that band is TESTAMENT, and those two forces join together, it results in the most dynamically brutal album of their entire catalog. Testament's 1999 opus, THE GATHERING, is the first and only album (thus far) to feature Dave Lombardo (Slayer, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Grip Inc.) behind the drums. Now that Dave is officially back in Testament again, we can reflect on this thrash masterpiece and begin to genuinely appreciate (and anticipate) the crushing level of awesome that the next Testament album will possess. You'll want to have “King Krug” help with the uncorking (“remember when we used to gulp?”) before you get your boots and spurs ready for “riding the slug” (hey, there's a first time for everything…*gulp*) and find out “The New Core” that's been officially sanctioned for this episode by none other than “Elvis Anselmo” as you JOIN US for a dive into the brutally glorious, sonic ecstasy that is Testament's eighth studio album, “THE GATHERING”. The Pipeman interviews Chuck Billy of Testament. They are going on tour with Exodus and Death Angel. During covid they had to put the touring on the back burner and continue after covid ended. In early in his career he wrote about climate change, end of the world and war. Having to live through it and to see it happen again in today's age it seems unreal. They've had so many great drummers, but Dave Lombardo has a unique style for thrash metal. They have an album that came out in 2020. This will be the first album with Dave as a drummer. The Gathering record with Dave was a testament to what is to come. They started tuning the guitars more, adding black metal in the music to help aid Chucks voice. Normally they would program drums then give it to the drummer to make it his own. With the Gathering record they just jammed with no demo and created it. They haven't been home for 2 years consistently in the entire career due to covid. Chuck has a vape called Chiefs. They have a new generation of them coming out. Lordvapor.com you can get them. They are looking to do edibles. You can connect to the band on all social media platforms and stream on all major platforms. They are in the works with the very first Indian reservation to have a distillery. Take some zany and serious journeys with The Pipeman aka Dean K. It's time for some more Testament - The legendary Chuck Billy returns to IUF, and this time we get the chance to catch up with him on everything he's been up to since 2020. The Bay Strikes Back tour kicks off soon, and Chuck has never been more ready to get back out on the road after 2 years. My 3 Questions To: Chuck Billy (Testament) Sobre La Dosis Sobre La Dosis Sobre La Dosis Sobre La Dosis Sobre La Dosis Sobre La Dosis Sobre La Dosis Sobre La Dosis
Shadow of Intent guitarist Chris Wiseman is our guest this week! We discuss their brand new album, Elegy, his lyrical approach to the record, and how he got Chuck Billy and Phil Bozeman as guests. We also talk about postponing their European tour due to rising Covid cases, what they learned on their recent U.S. tour with Born Of Osiris, the big spectrum of how headlining bands set rules for modern touring, the pros and cons of self-releasing the band's music, why signing to a label feels like “giving up," and his plans to release different versions of Elegy. Petar and Brandon tackle Avenged Sevenfold singer M. Shadows' comments that the band's new album was “very influenced by Kanye West”, their thoughts on the latest reboot of Beavis and Butt-Head, and the viral video featuring children who don't know any songs by the bands on the shirts they're wearing. Thank you to our sponsor, Metal Blade Records, for their continued support! Songs: Shadow Of Intent - “Where Millions have Come to Die” (featuring Phil Bozeman of Whitechapel) and “From Ruin… We Rise”
