Automating parts of this process could democratize hardware innovation, much like compilers did for software. Curiosity and Empathy in Engineering: Sergiy emphasizes the importance of maintaining a child-like curiosity and empathy in engineering. He argues that these qualities help identify and question inefficiencies that have become normalized, driving innovation and improvement in engineering practices. Future of Remote Work: Both Sergiy and Stewart discuss the evolving landscape of remote work. Sergiy shares his optimistic view on fully remote operations, citing his own company's success and the potential for significant benefits once current challenges, such as the lack of spontaneous in-office interactions, are addressed. Philosophical Insights on AI: The conversation touches on the philosophical aspects of AI, particularly the human tendency to anthropomorphize technology. Sergiy reflects on how large language models like ChatGPT elicit emotional responses from users, despite being fundamentally complex mathematical functions. Impact of 3D Printing on Electronics: Sergiy talks about the current and potential future roles of 3D printing in electronics. While 3D printing is not yet prevalent for mass manufacturing of circuit boards, it holds promise for rapid prototyping and could revolutionize the way we create and iterate on hardware designs. Episode 128I spoke with Sergiy Nesterenko about:* Developing an automated system for designing PCBs* Difficulties in human and automated PCB design* Building a startup at the intersection of different areas of expertiseBy the way — I hit 40 ratings on Apple Podcasts (and am at 66 on Spotify). It'd mean a lot (really, a lot) if you'd consider leaving a rating or a review. I read everything, and it's very heartening and helpful to hear what you think. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!Sergiy is founder and CEO of Quilter. Sergiy spent 5 years at SpaceX developing radiation-hardened avionics for SpaceX's Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy's second stage rockets, before discovering a big problem: designing printed circuit boards for all the electronics in these rockets was tedious, manual and error prone. So in 2019, he founded Quilter to build the next generation of AI-powered tooling for electrical engineers.I spend a lot of time on this podcast—if you like my work, you can support me on Patreon :)Reach me at editor@thegradient.pub for feedback, ideas, guest suggestions. Welcome to Shine, a podcast by Star. Here, you will get actionable insider knowledge directly from globally leading industry experts and companies. We answer essential questions and take a deep look into technology and design thinking within Star's core industries: Health and Wellness, Automotive and Mobility, and Fintech. In this episode, host Cherry Ye is joined by Sergii Gorpynich, the CTO at Star, a global innovation partner and consultancy. They explore whether businesses should develop their own AI solutions or leverage existing market offerings, the differences between closed-source solution providers and the family of open-source models, and the importance of existing infrastructure when onboarding AI solutions. Sergii and Cherry discuss the talent aspect of AI transformation and the importance of developing and collaborating with talent, while Sergiy emphasizes that AI solutions amplify human effort rather than replace it.
"Humans just aren't the greatest at designing circuit boards." That's according to Sergiy Nesterenko. Nesterenko is founder and CEO of a new software company called Quilter, whose goal is to accelerate hardware development by fully automating circuit board design. His eureka moment came when an early design at a previous employer couldn't be autorouted, then after it was hand-routed and built, it caught on fire. Listen to why the former Space X engineer thinks the margins designers build in are excessive and how AI-driven, physics-based platform can resolve and even violate some "human" rules and still generate superior printed circuit boards.

Science and technology intricately mesh together with society. You cannot see one without the other. However, transformational changes in science and technology do not always advance sustainable development and reduce inequality. More people have access to smartphones than clean water or clean sanitation in some countries. Artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies are growing, but so has the number of people living in hunger. In this episode, we speak with the co-chairs of the Science, Technology, and Innovation or STI Forum--Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations and Mr. Kennedy Godfrey Gastorn, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Tanzania to the United Nations. They both shared their insights on advancing science and technology achievements while also addressing global challenges of inequality, digital divide, inclusion, climate change, to name a few issues, through collaboration among different actors in society. We need novel ways to mitigate emerging risks to scientific research and we also need to further the collaboration among scientists, researchers, and policymakers in an ongoing dialogue in networks of trust and transparency to address the global challenges. The STI Forum of the United Nations provides this space for scientific cooperation and collaboration. It is also an important space for reflections on global development problems and discussions on how science, technology, and innovation can help contribute to approaches and solutions to achieve the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development. From the western border of Ukraine, Sergiy Potapov tells us how he chose to have impact by being a PM to deliver humanitarian aid, and what lessons from Critical Chain theory and PM he has applied…really. Touching on the Cynefin decision-model, Critical Chain, risk and stakeholders, the conversation highlights that we PMs can make a difference in the community around us. Just a few weeks ago, Ukrainian tennis player Sergiy Stakhovsky was playing the final match of his career at the Australian Open. After nearly 20 years on the tour, the 36-year-old announced his retirement in January, ready to spend more time with his wife and three children. Instead, and despite no military experience, Sergiy has enlisted in the Ukrainian military reserves to defend his country against its invasion by Russia. We caught up with Sergiy from his home city of Kyiv, to talk about his decision and what life is like there currently. A sobering, but important listen. #StandWithUkraine

After everything is said and done, Jermell believes the legacy he and his brother will leave behind will be on the level of the Klitschko brothers. "I say as big as the Klitschko's, or bigger. We want to be champions together in the same weight division again, if that's possible. We just want to be legends where people follow our platform and they recognize every time they see us, they're like, '… They dogs. And they looked out for people. They were good people.' We don't want people to just think we're some crazy warriors that just walk around banging their bats against the poles and stuff. We want people to understand that we're really serious about the sport of boxing. That we're passionate and we love the game, but we love life as well, and family," Jermell said.
The best fight card in years is going down this Saturday, September 26, as the Charlo twins return in an unprecedented boxing doubleheader, live on SHOWTIME PPV. Don't make a bet until you check out our breakdown of the entire card, which includes five world title bouts and one main event featuring WBC World Middleweight Champion Jermall Charlo versus top rated contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko, and the second headliner, a 154-pound unification between champions Jermell Charlo and Jeison Rosario.
