# 28 Heavy metal-genren i 90'erne, 1994 - ganske mange metalvinkler

- Biohazard holder den godt kørende på albummet “State of the World Address”, mens bysbørnene Dog Eat Dog står for årets heavyhop-hit med “No Fronts”. - I LA er Rage Against The Machines single “Killing In The Name of” selve kernen af en rasende rap metal-revolution, mens Bodycount heller ikke lægger fingre imellem på deres debutalbum. - Nirvanas Dave Grohl, Kurt Cobain og Alice in Chains-sanger Layne Staley dyrker danske Mercyful Fate i stor stil. They put AI CEOs on stage and somebody always asks: what do you tell your kids? Their kids are set. Trust funds stacked ten generations deep. Their kids are not checking insurance deductibles or wondering if the mortgage gets paid next month. That question is a mismatch. You are asking a billionaire to empathize with fears they have never felt. The people running these companies are not relatable. They are brilliant. They are also foreign to anyone living paycheck to paycheck. And foreign people making decisions about your future is unsettling no matter how many zeros are in their net worth.Meanwhile the federal government wants to override all state-level AI regulation and run one national framework. Universal basic income is back on the table. Elon floated "universal high income" which sounds more like a bumper sticker than a policy. And your social media algorithm is feeding you anger because anger drives engagement. That is not an accident. That is architecture. What if we pointed all of this compute at cancer? At longevity? At disease? What if every GPU went toward fixing the human body instead of generating entertainment content? That is the genie problem. You get the wish but you did not think the constraints through. AI is the most powerful genie in history and we have not agreed on what to ask for yet.Jason Fung just released The Hunger Code and named the three types of hunger that most of us have been fighting blind. True starvation hunger, which almost nobody experiences. Hedonic hunger, the dopamine pleasure response that makes processed food as addictive as hard drugs. And conditioned hunger, triggered by environment and social cues like mealtimes and holidays. Name the hunger. Tag it. Fight it. The addict who can identify the trigger has a chance. The addict who just says "I'm hungry" has already lost.Day 7 of Fast 3. Ghrelin comes in waves. It peaks around the times you normally ate. The wave hits, you feel like breaking, then it passes. Ride it or it rides you. Angus Barbieri fasted 382 days. I have done 14 and nearly killed myself on the refeed. When you break a fast, honor yourself enough not to blow it out. Bone broth. A couple eggs. Slow. The refeed is where you are most vulnerable.Caloric restriction is a lie. Cut your calories in half and your body adjusts its metabolism to match. When you go back to eating normally, you gain faster than before. Extended fasting bypasses the trap. Deplete the glycogen, switch to ketosis, let the body eat its own stored fuel. Metabolism goes up during fasting. Blindead 23, formerly known as Blindead, is the new Polish avant-metal juggernaut led by ex-Behemoth guitarist Mateusz "Havoc" Smierzchalski, with a stellar lineup also including Roger Öjersson (ex-Katatonia) and Pawel "Pavulon" Jaroszewicz (Vltimas, ex-Vader, ex-Decapitated). Their much-anticipated debut album, 'Deuterium', will be released on 24th April 2026. Worldwide on Peaceville excluding Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic (Mystic Production). This new incarnation of the band blends an atmosphere of early Blindead recordings - sludge and post-metal, with heavy riffs and mesmerizing electronics - into an evolved and elevated new form, while continuing to honour past material during their visceral live performances. ‘Deuterium' was recorded and produced by David Castillo (Opeth, Carcass, Katatonia, Leprous) at Studio Gröndahl in Stockholm in the spring of 2023, with mixing and mastering duties carried out by longtime friend of the band, Kuba Mańkowski. In this interview, we spoke with Mateusz and Roger about the new album, the rebirth of the band, the exciting experience of doing something different, and much more. He talked about how he and wife (and band member) Reilly Downes balance their independent musical projects while participating in one another's and a lot more. We also talk about Sparkle Carcass's first Maraschino Chevy single “Sippin' on a Cool One” which was originally released by a band called Rollin' Country around 1977.

She summarizes an Extension risk management project regarding heifer development, assisting dairies in benchmarking their heifer growth and development. Key focus points include reducing morbidity and mortality and timely breeding to achieve goals for age at first calving. Dr. Carpenter also emphasized heat detection and conception, as well as recordkeeping as important considerations for success. (4:10)Dr. Carpenter shares findings from a beef-on-dairy feeding experiment where any calf that had two or more lifetime respiratory events had lower carcass weight and lower return on investment. The panel discusses industry uptake of using lung ultrasounds to evaluate respiratory events. (11:53)Guests talk about different feeding concepts in heifer development and trends in age at first calving over time. (14:31)The panel dives into home-raising versus custom-developing heifers. Dr. Carpenter notes Penn State has great resources regarding custom rearing of dairy heifers. Pros and cons of both systems are discussed, and the panel also touches on rearing of beef-on-dairy calves as well. (19:17)The group returns to the topic of age at first calving. Reducing variation at age at breeding is important, and producers should consult with their nutritionists and veterinarians for a team approach to success. Salted pig's trotter? Brains on toast? Why the carcass balance is important to farmers. We like steak but we're not so keen on tripe, and we eat a lot of chicken but not the feet. To both reduce waste and get the best price for the whole animal or bird we need to do something with the offal. This is carcass balance, balancing the sale of the popular bits with finding markets for the bits that are less desirable here. Those parts that can't be sold are sent for rendering, using heat to separate them into fats and proteins to be sold as animal feed, fertiliser or go into things like cosmetics.Shooting clubs on Salisbury Plain say they may have to close because they can't get a licence to release game birds. Clubs near protected areas, like Sites of Special Scientific Interest, now need a special licence from Natural England to release birds like pheasants and that's now harder to get because of the threat of bird flu. The British Association for Shooting and Conservation says the licensing system is legally flawed and it's issued legal proceedings against Natural England. However, the RSPB would like to see the licensing regime extended. New rules to make trade fairer for pig producers came in this week. A series of recent difficulties in the industry revealed that many farmers didn't have proper contracts for their stock. The new system aims to change that.Presented by Charlotte Smith and produced by Beatrice Fenton.

Clubs near protected areas, like Sites of Special Scientific Interest, now need a special licence from Natural England to release birds like pheasants and that's now harder to get because of the threat of bird flu. The British Association for Shooting and Conservation or BASC says the licensing system is legally flawed and it's issued legal proceedings against Natural England. However the RSPB would like to see the licensing regime extended. It's called for all game bird releases to be stopped this year because of the risks. In the meantime, clubs say no shoots means no money coming in which means some, like the Bulford and Tidworth Garrison Shoot, are at risk of folding. All week we're looking at what's known as the 5th quarter - this is the name given to the offcuts of meat which, though edible, the British palate isn't keen on. Carcass balance is about finding a use for offal and things like ears or trotters both to combat waste and to get the best price for the whole animal and that means exports. British consumers may not want to eat this sort of thing, but in other parts of the world there is a market so in recent years greater emphasis has been put on seeking out new buyers to get the best out of animal carcasses. The Nature Friendly Farming Network is asking the government to roll over the current schemes to give farmers some certainty. All this week we're looking at 'carcass balance' - using more of the animal's carcass to avoid waste. Every summer, pig farmers face a frustrating reality: heat stress causes carcass weights to drop by 8-10 pounds precisely when market prices peak. But what if you could capture those lost pounds and the profits they represent?Dr. David Rosero of Iowa State University and Dr. Bart Borg of Passel Farms reveal game-changing strategies to combat the summer weight dip through strategic soybean meal utilization. Their research demonstrates that understanding the minimum effective levels of soybean meal for each growth phase can maximize pig performance even during challenging heat conditions. With current markets offering dollar-plus prices during summer months, producers stand to gain $3-4 per head by implementing these approaches.Beyond soybean meal, the experts share critical insights about ingredients that may worsen summer performance problems. High-fiber ingredients like corn DDGs can reduce feed intake during heat stress, further diminishing carcass weights. Making these nutritional decisions requires planning months ahead – typically December or January – for pigs marketed during summer. The researchers are developing new economic tools that integrate diet costs, animal performance data, and market forecasts to help producers make optimal feeding decisions.Don't let summer heat melt away your profits. This was an unplanned conversation about an unplanned, unexpected, shocking event in our lives. It's just Hunter and I talking about a dear friend that recently passed, one of our own leaving earthly bonds. And in our reveries and remembrances we left out so much: Tom Hailey was the beer/wine buyer at the Raleigh Whole Foods and held that position for many years there, beloved by the entire staff. He had a college radio metal show where he adopted the persona of The Unholy One and spoke to (no, COMMANDED!) his audience in a John Tardy-like roar. We also failed to mention the time Hunter and I, in 2019, listened to Voivod's Nothingface with Tom, all of us air drumming, air guitaring, air bassing and singing every bit of it, all the way through……these and many more memories only scratch the surface of our friend Tom and why we're going to miss him so damn much. Note I: CLOVER CAT RESCUE donation link: https://tinyurl.com/donate-CCR Please note "In Memory of Tom Hailey" when you give or VENMO @clovercatrescue Note II: We think Tom would be amused by the gaff of a gaff Hunter makes when talking about post-Confessor bands. He said he called Fly Wheel Fly Leaf, when that band was actually named Fly Machine. Hunter knows a lot, and we can't fault him for not knowing the specifics of post-Confessor tree branches. What if the secret to a fulfilled life isn't about changing your circumstances, but shifting your perspective? This profound exploration of ancient wisdom reveals how our outlook determines our happiness more than any external reality.Through the biblical story of the twelve spies, we witness how identical circumstances produced radically different responses. Ten spies saw only giants and danger in the Promised Land, while Joshua and Caleb recognized divine opportunity. The spies witnessed funerals throughout their journey—events God orchestrated as protection to distract locals—yet interpreted this blessing as a curse. Even discovering extraordinarily abundant fruit became, in their eyes, evidence of danger rather than prosperity. The wisdom of the "good eye" tradition illuminates our power to choose what we focus on. Like the pious teacher who noticed "beautifully white teeth" in a roadkill carcass while his students saw only decay, we can train ourselves to find goodness amid challenges. This isn't naive positivity but a disciplined practice of perspective-taking that acknowledges difficulties while refusing to be defined by them.Modern psychology confirms this ancient teaching through concepts like the "blue dot effect"—our tendency to fixate on the single problem in an otherwise perfect picture. The consequences of our perspective extend beyond personal happiness to impact our relationships, communities, and even the spiritual trajectory of generations. As one sage observed regarding American Jewish immigrants: children abandoned faith not because their parents sacrificed for religious observance, but because parents approached these sacrifices with a negative attitude.Your happiness truly is your choice. Not because hardships don't exist, but because you decide how to interpret them. Will you see obstacles as curses or opportunities? Will you focus on what's missing or what remains? Start today by finding the "white teeth" in your circumstances—that unexpected blessing hidden within every challenge. The practice gets easier with repetition, gradually transforming not just your experience but your entire character.Support the showJoin The Motivation Congregation WhatsApp community for daily motivational Torah content!Elevate your impact by becoming a TMC Emerald Donor! Market speculation into commodities like Bitcoin and Crude oil pose dangerous risks during the best of times. Heading into a recession, the stakes are even higher. The temptation to participate during volatile periods is a psychological phenomenon that takes hold among casual investors who rarely realize when they’re part of an institutional con. When leveraged institutions are in desperate need of liquidity they’ll stop at nothing to game the system. In this episode, Max offers a cautionary tale of speculative behavior in the crude oil markets during the financial crisis that very few people even know about. He then connects it to the dangers posed to investors who dabble in digital currencies like Bitcoin, especially under a pro-crypto Trump administration. Access the episode resources.  In this episode of The Box of Oddities, Kat and Jethro dive into four perplexing stories that blur the line between history, mystery, and the supernatural. First, they explore the enigmatic Copper Scroll—is it a treasure map or something far more cryptic? Then, we journey to the streets of Brittany, where the Lioness of Brittany takes revenge in a tale that's as chilling as it is captivating. From the supernatural to the technological, the duo wonders if smart devices are more than just gadgets—could they actually be portals to the beyond? Finally, they unravel the cosmic connection between Arcturus, a star 40 lightyears away, and its mysterious role in lighting up the 1933 Chicago World's Fair—all this with a healthy dose of humor, of course.
