Mark Osborne spent decades in the background, playing rhythm guitar on the worship team, raising his kids, and going to church, while quietly living without real purpose, spiritual depth, or a genuine connection with God. A mild heart attack at 48 nudged him toward healthier habits, but it was the day he sat alone on his birthday with a bowl of Captain Crunch and asked God why he wasn't happy that something finally cracked open. What followed was a fitness journey that spiralled into ego, social media obsession, a marriage pushed to its breaking point, and ultimately, a moment on his knees that changed the direction of his life entirely. In this honest and encouraging conversation, Mark shares how he and his wife rebuilt their relationship and their faith from the ground up, what he's learned about the difference between self-improvement and Christ-centred development, and why he now believes discipline is not a pathway to self-mastery but a fruit of the Holy Spirit. He also speaks directly to men who are drifting, and to the women who love them, offering practical wisdom and genuine hope. Mark is the host of The Valiant Forge podcast. This episode could be the beginning of taking you from a life of staying in the background to the future that God has planned for you. WEBLINKS The Valiant Forge Podcast YouTube

Portfolio Pulse: The Money Podcast for Medical Professionals & Entrepreneurs
In this episode of Portfolio Pulse, host Steven Huskey welcomes Mark Osborne—founder of Modern Revenue Strategies, marketing technology trailblazer, best‑selling author, and one of the few marketing and sales experts who is also a Certified Exit Planning Advisor. Mark shares his unexpected journey from promoting college bands to advising major brands, and ultimately to helping mid‑sized businesses grow revenue and maximize enterprise value. Mark explains why traditional marketing agencies often miss the mark when companies are preparing for an exit, and how shifting focus from “big, sexy strategy projects” to improving processes, systems, and recurring revenue can dramatically increase a company's valuation. With real examples—including how a roofing company doubled its exit multiple—Mark breaks down the practical steps entrepreneurs can take to strengthen EBITDA, enhance transferability, and position their business for a more profitable sale.
Send a textMark Osborne is the host of The Valiant Forge, a podcast created for Christian men who want to grow in their faith through honest, grounded conversation. His work centers on biblical masculinity, spiritual leadership, and the quiet battles men often fight alone. Mark's story includes a late-life wake-up call marked by a health scare, depression, and a season of spiritual dryness that led to a renewed faith and restored marriage. That season reshaped how he understands manhood, obedience, and what it means to lead with humility and courage. He approaches conversations not as an expert, but as a fellow traveler, speaking openly about fatherhood, failure, emotional health, addiction recovery, forgiveness, and Scripture lived out in everyday life. Mark brings a steady, thoughtful presence and values discussions that go deeper than surface-level answers, always pointing back to Christ with honesty and grace. Building on their recent podcast episode on Kung Fu Panda (John Stevenson & Mark Osborne, 2008) with screenwriter John Yorke, Alex takes Chris through the mechanics and mysteries involved in the hero's journey, Joseph Campbell's famous structure and patterning of narrative, to discuss how such storytelling archetypes link to Jungian approaches towards the process of character individuation. Topics include the big-screen reworkings of the hero's journey and its industry function as a screenwriting template; theorisations of form and formalist frameworks for understanding narrative organisation; Campbell's interests in the traces of our unconscious mind as found in collective archetypes that surround culture; and the way that the formula for heroic action and its calls to adventure can and do work within the creative spaces of fantasy. **Fantasy/Animation theme tune composed by Francisca Araujo** **As featured on Feedspot's 25 Best London Education Podcasts** **As featured on MillionPodcast's Best 10 UK Animation Podcasts and Best 60 Movie Podcasts in the UK**
Welcome to The B-Side! Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones that they made in between. Today we celebrate Canadian greatness. We celebrate Rachel McAdams! Our B-Sides include The Lucky Ones, The Time Traveller's Wife, Passion, and Every Thing Will Be Fine. We also spend some time on The Hot Chick, and do a couple of Rachel McAdams-inspired quizzes at the top of the episode. It's fun! We talk about her new Sam Raimi movie Send Help. We reflect on McAdams' stratospheric rise to stardom within the first few years (and films) of her career, that time she dated Ryan Gosling, and her many accents over the years. We also shout-out the sheer amount of great filmmakers she's worked with over the years: Wes Craven, Ira Sachs, Woody Allen, Terrence Malick, Brian De Palma, Cameron Crowe, Antoine Fuqua, Tom McCarthy, Wim Wenders, Mark Osborne (animated), Sam Raimi, and Kelly Fremon Craig. That's incredible! There's the limited amount of press she has done over the years (though this podcast episode is lovely, about her and her dear friend) and the fact that the hit movies she's starred in throughout her career are mostly not made for movie theaters anymore. We speak to her comedy chops and her constant alignment with the directors she works with. She's a pro! And finally, we show some appropriate respect to the Michael Sucsy-directed romance The Vow. The woman loves a movie wherein time is manipulated!

Episode 166 of the Fantasy/Animation podcast high kicks its way into the world of DreamWorks' successful Kung Fu Panda franchise (2008-) with this look at the series' first big-screen instalment, Kung Fu Panda (John Stevenson & Mark Osborne, 2008), with very special guest John Yorke. John is a television producer, screenwriter, editor, and author, who was Head of Channel 4 Drama (2003–2005), controller of BBC drama production (2006–2012) where he founded the BBC Writers Academy, and more recently managing director of Company Pictures (2013–2015). He is now teaching screenwriting via his own company, John Yorke Story, and is the author of Into the Woods: How Stories Work and Why We Tell Them (Penguin, 2014) and Trip to the Moon: Understanding the True Power of Story (Penguin, 2026). Topics include the tension between showing and telling that underpins the character development of Kung Fu Panda's protagonist Po (Jack Black); story as central to the film's effectiveness as a martial arts animated comedy and the spectacle of the animated body in physicalising certain narrative beats; storytelling within a commercial animation context and how the medium's narrative strategies are enabled by animation as an industrial art form; and how Kung Fu Panda functions as a popular fantasy film merging Chinese with American cultural concerns yet remains indebted to longstanding folkloric structures of narrative. This podcast is sponsored by the project “UK-China Animation: Co-Creating Research and Knowledge Exchange,” led by the University of Nottingham and funded by the British Council through an award from its Going Global Partnerships programme, which builds stronger, more inclusive, internationally connected higher education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training systems (TVET). **Fantasy/Animation theme tune composed by Francisca Araujo** **As featured on Feedspot's 25 Best London Education Podcasts** **As featured on MillionPodcast's Best 10 UK Animation Podcasts and Best 60 Movie Podcasts in the UK**

Focus on something you're truly passionate about. Throughout our conversation today, we've touched on a lot of different aspects of marketing. For me, it all started with an interest in understanding how people think and communicate, which is at the heart of marketing. From there, I moved into advertising, which is a part of marketing, then digital marketing, adding another layer, and finally, analytics, which offers a different perspective. I've enjoyed diving into each of these areas because marketing is a passion of mine. Even when working on a business that might take longer to see results, as long as it's in a field I'm passionate about, the journey doesn't feel long because I'm still enjoying the process of learning. So, my advice is to ensure you're working in an area you genuinely care about, not just one that seems like a good business opportunity.

This week on Revenue Rehab, host Brandi Starr sits down with Mark Osborne, a top marketing technology trailblazer and best-selling author renowned for driving substantial revenue growth for clients. Mark is on a mission to eradicate the notion of 'growth hacks', instead advocating for sustainable growth systems rooted in fundamental strategies. He underscores the criticality of unifying marketing, sales, and customer success around the metric of pipeline velocity to achieve transformational growth and market dominance. In this episode, Brandi and Mark dive deep into the importance of defining context for ideal customer profiles throughout the sales process, the perils of unqualified leads, and the game-changing potential of better coordination between marketing and sales in nurturing campaigns and defining lead qualification criteria. Tune in as they explore what success looks like for companies that effectively tackle these challenges and the positive implications for businesses when these problems are solved. Get ready for an insightful discussion on driving revenue faster through better marketing-sales integration. Bullet Points of Key Topics + Chapter Markers: Topic #1: Importance of Visual Tools in Analyzing Systems [05:12] "Flowcharts are really powerful tools to help analyze and improve systems within organizations," Mark Osborne emphasizes. "By visually mapping out the critical path of processes, you can identify bottlenecks, set KPIs at crucial steps, and refine the process to achieve exponential growth." Brandi Starr agrees, adding "Visual tools make it easier to communicate complex processes and get everyone on the same page." Topic #2 Unifying Revenue Teams for Transformational Growth [14:37] Mark Osborne suggests, "To achieve transformational growth and dominate a marketplace, companies need to unify marketing, sales, and customer success under a shared objective of growing revenues." He recommends "creating a unified revenue team, building a scorecard with KPIs across the revenue system, and aligning incentives based on the scorecard to remove friction and create coordination." Brandi Starr concurs, stating "Measurement and accountability are key to creating alignment and removing friction between revenue teams." Topic #3 Defining Context for Ideal Customer Profiles [22:51] Brandi Starr and Mark Osborne discuss the importance of defining context for ideal customer profiles throughout the sales process. "Companies often fail to effectively communicate this context," Brandi observes, leading to "unqualified leads and decreased resource allocation for the best opportunities." Mark expands, "By better defining lead qualification criteria and setting up targeted nurturing campaigns, marketing and sales can collaboratively improve pipeline velocity and accelerate revenue growth." So, What's the One Thing You Can Do Today? Mark's 'One Thing' is to get your revenue team together and define your revenue system. "The very first thing is to get the team together, define your system and think through the roles, especially if you're a small company... it's really easy because you've probably got one or two people in marketing and then a handful of salespeople. Get those folks together and start to define what that looks like and what you're trying to achieve." He encourages listeners to download the free book offered in the show notes, which provides templates and a guide on modern revenue strategies to help you get started. Buzzword Banishment: Mark's Buzzword to Banish is 'growth hacks'. He wants to get rid of this concept forever because he believes "growth hacks are not a thing. Growth hacks don't exist." Instead, Mark emphasizes building sustainable growth systems based on fundamental strategies. Madolyn Smith Osborne had the kind of fairy tale show business beginning that most can only fantasize about. While still in school at The University of Southern California, she won her first paycheck with a serendipitous audition before famed choreographer, Gower Champion, when a lead dancer and understudy had to be replaced in the Broadway-bound production of Pal Joey starring Lena Horne. Madolyn's passion for musical theater as well as her training with beloved choreographers Bill and Jacqui Landrum, prepared her well for the opportunity. A year later, on the eve of graduating from USC's School of Dramatic Arts., her mentor, the late, iconic theatre and film producer and Academy Award-winning actor, John Houseman, launched a swan song of sorts for her with a production of Shakespeare's All's Well That Ends Well, in which Madolyn starred in the role of Helena. Mr. Houseman had invited various industry professionals to see the show in the 99-seat Stop Gap Theater on campus, including his former protege, film director, Jim Bridges, who, upon seeing Madolyn's performance, invited her to play the role of John Travolta's mistress, Pam, in the cult classic, Urban Cowboy. Madolyn went on to give multiple award-winning performances in the L.A. theater scene. Among her triumphs, she created the title role of Emily in Stephen Metcalfe's play of the same name, which was directed by the renowned producer-director, Jack O'Brien, during its premiere at San Diego's revered Old Globe Theatre. When Madolyn was studying with legendary actress, Kim Stanley, and opera singer, Gloria Lane, she became a founding member of L.A. Theatre Works. Madolyn also enjoyed a terrific TV and film career in which she found herself starring in features opposite the likes of no less than Steve Martin in All of Me, Roy Scheider in 2010: The Year We Make Contact, Chevy Chase in Funny Farm, Joe Pesci in The Super, and in TV shows like Due South, Cheers, If Tomorrow Comes, and Sadat. But at the height of her powers, all of that was abruptly interrupted by a chronic illness that she fights to this day.Madolyn resides in Toronto, Canada with her husband, former NHL hockey great, Mark Osborne, and 2 adult daughters who live nearby. For the record, Madolyn and I have known one another for more years than either of us will admit, having met and worked together on a few productions while we were both in drama school at the USC.
