It's a very special episode as Warren and Davydd are joined all the way from the US by Adroit Theory's Mark Osborne - a big thanks to the team from Forward Hops Importers for getting these beers to us in such great condition. You can enjoy all the beers we discuss in this episode by buying the tasting pack from our online store here: https://the-coolroom-podcast.myshopify.com/products/adroit-theory-6-pack Mark leads us on a guided tasting of his beers including the amazing "Invisible Art" which he rates as one of the top 3 beers that the brewery has ever produced. We learn about the first great beers he tasted in the UK, which breweries in the US he took inspiration from, and the stories of the brewers who've joined him at Adroit Theory. Davydd gets excited by the Iron Maiden tram visiting Melbourne, Warren declares he's getting his D20s out and we have an in depth discussion about Gangster Rap 1990-92.. And we may or may not tell Mark that every kangaroo in Australia has galaxy hops in its pouch...
After cracking our beers, we kick off this episode by talking about… more Modern Warfare 3! We then talk about… more Jusant. And then… more NYT Connections. Not new to the podcast discussion but we also speak to Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart and the PS5 experience. To drink, Aadil starts with Funky Fluid’s Warsaw Dream, then moves to the Arbor X Brixton brewery Cherry Amaretto Stout. Lucy skips the pond to have Maiden of Pain from Adroit Theory, and Ben skips a border for Polly’s White Oak. You already know that we're into cars, having featured stories about them in a few Hey Brews before. This time, we've got a bit of a tour through the history of car safety. We get surprised at how old some safety features are, pleasantly shocked at how often Volvo shows up in this list, and disgusted with the dark past of crash test dummies. Combine this with a banger of a sour from Adroit Theory, and it's an episode sure to take pole position!Featured beers: Adroit Theory - Illusion of Safety (Ghost 1082)Follow Hey Brew on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Ben Carwyn and Ben Duval from Carwyn Cellars return to the Coolroom to finish the job they started in Episode 89 as they discuss the contents of the Furious 5 Pack! And they've brought company in the form of Peter and Dave from Forward Hops, the importers that made it all possible. We learn about great breweries like Burley Oak, Parish Brewing, Humble Forager and the back story of The Rare Barrel as well as being treated to a stunning array of Western Australian bird calls. We learn about the challenges and rewards of setting up a beer importation business as well as much much more about the Perth beer scene. This all sets the scene for Episode 94 that we are releasing on the same day when Mark Osborne from Adroit Theory joins us at 5:30 am US time to discuss the DJINN Imperial Stout which is the final entrant in the Furious 5 pack! You can still purchase the Furious 5 from Carwyn's website at the time of episode release: https://carwyncellars.com.au/collections/style-gift-packs Please follow the Coolroom and all of our guests on all of the social medias!
This episode follows directly on from Episode 93 so we highly recommend that you listen to that episode first! To complete our discussion of Carwyn Cellar's Furious 5 pack with Forward Hops we were super lucky to have Mark Osborne from Adroit Theory Brewing join us live from the US. Even though it was 5:30 am in the morning he was able to give us a tasting masterclass on the DJINN Imperial Stout that is part of the pack. He was so generous with his time that we just had to spin this out into being its own episode as we learned not just about the highly innovative beers that Adroit Theory is renowned for, but about the whole story as Mark and his wife decided to leap into world of running a full scale brewery! You can still purchase the Furious 5 from Carwyn's website at the time of episode release: https://carwyncellars.com.au/collections/style-gift-packs Please follow the Coolroom and all of our guests on all of the social medias!
"All Shall Perish" is the theme of this week's episode, and as morbid a thought as that is your hosts find a way to bring the humor this week as we explore Adroit Theory's brew. While the Bros discuss the origins of this Virginia Based Brew, they'll discuss how the brewery ties into Nine Inch Nails and what exactly esoteric means. Paired with this week's beer is the poem "But You Didn't," which we're crediting to Merrill Glass but which the Bros discover isn't as easy a creditation as one might expect. We'll go into a little bit of what import originality has on poetry and what happens when art goes beyond itself. Esoteric indeed this week, as we hope you'll join us and as always, enjoy.Cheers!

This episode we're traveling down to Brazil and trying a new brewery called Salvador Brewing Co. River Double NE IPA is a citrusy IPA which gives us hope for trying more beers from a region better known for their wines. We are lucky to get to sample South American beers quite often thanks to the current webshop situation. Adroit Theory has been releasing a lot of beers in the webshops. They are best known for their hazy IPAs and this is from their TIPA line called Evangelion. Evangelion XVI: Armisael (Ghost 927) is the 16th release in the series featuring Citra and Moutere hops. At 10% ABV it's a big boozy beer that is guaranteed to rock your world.

We love beers with a little extra ABV. Don't you? This week's spotlight is on the "Sky's The Limit" badge. You don't always intend to go for beers with a double-digit ABV, but when you do, you make it count! Be careful, 10% and up can really pack a punch. Get ready for some late night show antics as we crack open 2 beers that should probably be shared with friends... but that's a different badge. Harrison's drinking Pastry Works from Froth Brewing Co., a Pastry Stout with Peanut Butter, Graham Cracker, Coconut and Milk Sugar. Jon's drinking Dia De Los Muertos (Ghost 906) from Adroit Theory. At 13.7% ABV, this Russian Imperial Stout is the perfect balance between Bitter and Sweet, Creamy and Full Bodied, or Roasty and Malty. Advent 2020 Day 10 is another treat from the Kihoskh monthly subscription box. Adroit Theory has been making waves in the EU over the past year. Their Evangelion line of triple IPAs has been a welcome coping mechanism this year. Zeruel is the 14th iteration of this beer and it's awesome. If you haven't tried any beers from Adroit Theory, make sure you correct that mistake. BTW, Adroit means clever or skillful and this brewery definitely is.
