Visit our website: https://arkmedia.org/ This conversation on YouTube: https://youtu.be/O7F7Pq-XI40 Show Notes: Since October 7th, on this podcast we have tried to present Israel's dilemmas and challenges as Israel responded to a genocidal attack from Gaza and what is now a multi-front war. We have tried to do this by talking to Israelis – Israeli journalists, political figures, historians and other thought leaders, and different people from Israel's civil society. We have tried to provide historical context and perspectives from various actors in the U.S.-Israel relationship from both sides of that relationship. We did not think we would still be recording these episodes – with this focus – for one year. And yet, here we are — approaching the one-year anniversary of October 7, which will be regarded as one of the darkest days in Jewish history (and one of the darkest days in the history of Western Civilization). Most of our episodes have been shaped by weekly and daily news developments. But as we approach the one-year anniversary, we wanted to take a step back, and spend extended time with a few of our previous guests and thought leaders who are not our go-to analysts. We asked each one of them to take a longer horizon perspective, to look back at this past year and the year ahead. In each conversation, we will try to understand the larger lessons these guests have learned as we approach this grim milestone. If you are listening to this episode on a podcast app, please note that this series was filmed in a studio and is also available in video form on our YouTube channel. You can find a link here: [Ilan, insert link]. We begin this series with a conversation with Douglas Murray – war journalist, columnist, and bestselling author. We will be dropping one of these long-form conversations with a different guest each week between now and the first couple weeks after 10/07. LINKS: On Sunday, September 8, Douglas Murray will kick off his first ever US Tour with Live Nation. Long before Oct 7, Douglas was a widely read journalist, bestselling author, and one of the most prescient intellectuals in the world. Since Oct 7, he has also become one of the strongest voices for Israel and the Jewish people. Douglas will be sharing experiences from his time in Israel post October 7, including never before seen footage from his time in Israel. On September 8, he will be at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale. On September 10, he'll be at the Fillmore Miami Beach. On September 11, the Warner Theatre in Washington DC. On September 23, The Wiltern in Los Angeles. On September 29, the Beacon Theatre in New York City. And on October 13, Paramount Theatre in Denver. The evening will be filled with great pride for am yisrael and hope for the future. Some shows are sold out or very near sold out. Tickets can be purchased through Live Nation's website: https://shorturl.at/yilaw NEW YORK CITY — September 24 — Join us for the first major live recording of Call Me Back, held at the Streicker Center, co-sponsored by UJA Federation of NY, and featuring Amir Tibon on the official launch date of his book The Gates of Gaza: A Story of Betrayal, Survival, and Hope in Israel's Borderlands. In his new book, Amir tells the gripping story of the Tibon family's ordeal at Kibbutz Nahal Oz on October 7 and the heroic rescue by Amir's father, retired General Noam Tibon. Woven throughout the book is Amir's own expertise as a longtime journalist in Israel and in Washington, the history of Kibbutz Nahal Oz, and the conflict between Israel and Gaza. We are excited to bring this program – with our partners at The Streicker Center and UJA Federation of NY – to the Call Me Back audience. To register, please go to: streicker.nyc/events/tibon-senor PHILADELPHIA-AREA — September 9 — Join us this Monday night in Lower Merion, just outside of Philadelphia, for a discussion about Israel, the Middle East and the U.S.-Israel relationship with combat veteran and national security expert Dave McCormick, who is running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania. Dave grew up in Bloomsburg, PA, attended West Point, fought in the Gulf War with the 82nd Airborne, then ran a tech software business in Pittsburgh before becoming CEO of Bridgewater Associates. Dave has emerged as one of the strongest pro-Israel voices and allies of the Jewish community this election cycle; his wife Dina was a deputy national security advisor in the White House and one of the architects of the Abraham Accords. We are going to have a fascinating conversation about his trip to Israel in January, what he's seen on the campaign trail and how his experience as a combat veteran informs his perspective on the war in Israel and America's role in the region. We had the pleasure of interviewing NIKI over Zoom video!Jakarta-born, LA-based singer-songwriter, and producer NIKI releases the visual for her track “The Apartment We Won't Share.”Directed by Isaac Ravishankara, the new visual for “The Apartment We Won't Share” compliments the nostalgic track that reflects on what could have been with a past relationship. NIKI is contemplative as she strolls through her apartment alone before picking up her guitar to craft the introspective song. Most recently, NIKI made her NPR Tiny Desk debut where she delivered a carefully crafted & stripped-back performance of a handful of songs from her sophomore album Nicole, before closing with her hit single “Every Summertime."Following her sold-out North American headlining tour last fall, NIKI will be bringing her live show to cities across the globe with her 2023 world tour which will span across North America, Asia, Europe, and Australia. The run also includes performances at festivals including Head in the Clouds NYC & LA, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands. The full list of dates is below; please visit https://nikizefanya.com/ for more information.Previously, NIKI released the music video for her track “Backburner.” The video is deliberate and intimate, taking viewers into her world as she watches old footage recorded on her camcorder and re-lives fond memories of a past relationship.Last summer, NIKI released her sophomore album Nicole, a project that sees her where she shines, returning to her singer-songwriter roots in a carefully crafted coming-of-age juncture that sees present-day NIKI meet with her teenage self. The album was released to critical acclaim by the likes of NPR, Billboard, Vanity Fair, and V Magazine, who hailed Nicole as “NIKI's piece-de-resistance that kicks off an exceptional new chapter for the burgeoning songstress.” NIKI also released her live album Live at the Wiltern last month, which features live recordings performed at the final show of NIKI's sold-out headlining tour at the Los Angeles venue last October.NIKI has had an impressive career thus far, amassing over 2.1 billion streams worldwide and opening for Taylor Swift on tour when she was just 15. In addition to performing at Coachella and embarking on her headlining North American tour last fall, she has also headlined at 88rising's Head in the Clouds Festival in Los Angeles, New York, Manila, and Jakarta.ABOUT NIKISince breaking through with her 2018 EP Zephyr, NIKI has made a powerful imprint on the pop scene, amassing a devoted global fanbase with over 2.1 billion streams to date and making history as the first Indonesian artist ever to perform at Coachella. But after delivering her critically acclaimed debut album MOONCHILD, the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter felt compelled to completely reexamine her artistic process—a move that found her revisiting the vast catalog of unfiltered and indie-folk-leaning songs she'd created in high school. As she returned to the stream-of-consciousness approach to songwriting that defined her earliest material, the 23-year-old musician soon arrived at her sophomore album Nicole: a boldly self-possessed body of work written entirely by NIKI, spotlighting her finespun storytelling and warmly expressive vocals more fully than ever before. With the album's first half comprised of new or never-before-heard songs and its latter half featuring her favorite tracks from her widely beloved YouTube channel, NIKI imbues her songs with the kind of lived-in specificity that immediately reconnects the listener with the rush and devastation of their own first love.We want to hear from you! Anjelah recently wrapped up her successful comedy tour in theatres across North America. In Los Angeles, she sold out The Wiltern four times with over 8,000 tickets sold. In Texas she sold over 25,000 tickets across Houston, Austin, Dallas, Lubbock, San Antonio, and El Paso. As part of her special tapings, she sold out the historic Ryman Auditorium twice with over 4,000 tickets sold. This year the comedian will co-star opposite Eddie Murphy in the Amazon Prime holiday film, Candy Cane Lane, and in Amy Schumer's Life & Beth's season two on Hulu. Her book, "Who Do I Think I Am: Stories of Chola Wishes & Caviar Dreams," recently came out in paperback. Anjelah's anecdotes of growing up caught between her Mexican heritage and American culture, her rise to success in Hollywood which all started when she was a Raiderette cheerleader, and so much more resonated with readers. Those same relatable stories connect her in a meaningful way to her fans and has driven her social media engagement through the roof (she has nearly one million followers on Instagram, over one million followers on Facebook, and over three million on TikTok). Hey, what's up folks? Welcome to another episode of my podcast. I'm your host, Vincent Jacob, and today we're coming to you from the heart of LA, where I had the chance to sit down with the guys from Theory of a Deadman backstage at one of my favorite venues… The Wiltern. These rockers from the Great White North have been doing their thing since 2001, and let me tell you, they've still got it! With 7 albums under their belt and a brand new one called 'Dinosaur', they're out here killing the game on their tour with Skillet and Saint Asonia. During our conversation, we talked about everything from their latest album to their end-of-the-world survival plans. We even touched on their rewrite of 'Just the Two of Us', which let's just say, involves a certain virus we've all been dealing with.  These guys are as cool as they come and had me laughing throughout the interview, all while still managing to show their passion for their craft. I mean, seriously, these guys could be out playing golf, but instead, they're out here rocking it out like champs. We also dug into their collaborations with legends like Alice Cooper and their experience playing the 'Dancing Queen' piano at ABBA's studio in Stockholm. And of course, we had to talk about the 'Rock Resurrection' tour and whether rock music is really dead or alive and kicking. But don't just take my word for it, stick around and listen to the full interview. I promise, it's a good one! And after our chat, my boy Julien and I caught the last show of their tour, and it was properly insane! These guys really know how to put on a show and left everything on that stage. There's a reason more than 12,000 restaurants trust Restaurant365 to help them become more profitable. Led by inspiring CEO Tony Smith, Restaurant365 knows — and loves — restaurants. “We have four core values. Our first one is we love good food,” Tony Smith said on the Digital Hospitality podcast, hosted by restaurant owner Shawn P. Walchef of https://calibbq.media. “We love the restaurant industry and we help restaurants thrive and grow.” Check out this Digital Hospitality podcast episode with Restaurant 365 CEO Tony Smith to learn about co-founding the all-in-one restaurant management software company, increasing profits and efficiency for restaurants, and the rockstar-themed Restaurant Transformation Tour 2022 stop in Los Angeles at the historic Wiltern theater. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erOB8yGwXR4 WATCH RESTAURANT365 INTERVIEW ON YOUTUBE 3 Takeaways from this Episode — Restaurant Accounting Made Sexy: When Tony Smith first started Restaurant365, accounting was a general, unsexy necessity of business in general. He and his team set out to meet the complications that are unique to restaurant accounting. [WATCH] A.A.V: Always Adding Value: Tony Smith and the team at Restaurant365 begin with the fundamental question of "what value is this idea going to add" when strategizing their next move. They understand that, though it is important, a successful business is more than just a positive Yelp review.  In an industry where technology is being introduced at a rapid pace, the goal for Restaurant365 continues to be meeting needs and adding value. [WATCH] Restaurant Transformation Tour: In person events are back! Restaurant365 is jumping back into things with the exciting, rockstar tour-themed Restaurant Transformation Tour that aims to cover all things to enhance restaurant success. [WATCH]   Restaurant365 CEO Tony Smith Owning and operating restaurants provides a set of trials that are unique to the industry. Tony Smith and Restaurant365 are doing their best to streamline the process to make their customers profits go up.  Prior to co-founding Restaurant365, the CEO honed his digital skillset with a software consulting company. As he spent his days researching, designing, and implementing accounting solutions, his love for good food never waned. The merging of the two interests created the framework for the core values of Restaurant365. Restaurant365 Core Values Love Good Food Share Positive Vibes Solve Problems, Together Relentlessly Seek Greatness Though technology can be complicated, Restaurant365's mission is to simplify the technology chain of restaurants for seamless integrations with other vital restaurant tech like Toast. That sort of forward-thinking goal, and Tony Smith's previous work experience, allows the leader to see gaps in production that may be inhibiting the growth of a company. In this case, that gap was the general approach many restaurants took regarding their accounting. The particular challenges that come with that part of a successful restaurant is something Smith and his team are targeting to help with Restaurant365. “Most everyone was using a generic accounting product,” Smith describes about why they created Restaurant365 “Our mission was to make the phrase restaurant accounting mean something because restaurants run uniquely.” Starting in 2011 from personal finances, Tony Smith and co-founder John Moody began their journey creating what Smith deems as their “core system”. In just over a decade, they have gone from a small 5 foot table and Moody dragging a suitcase around the National Restaurant Show to now putting on their own major events with the Restaurant Transformation Tour.    Restaurant Transformation Tour 2022 — The Restaurant Transformation Tour is R365's latest contribution to the restaurant industry. I am a huge fan of HorrorPops and have been for over 15 years. My personal favorite songs are Psycho Beach, Where they Wander, Walk Like a Zombie, and Dotted With Hearts. Their sound is so cool and so much fun. They intertwine horror with 50's rockabilly with a tongue-in-cheek vibe, and I just love them. If you dig the Nekromantix, Misfits, or any horror-centric band, definitely check them out.
