Peter Fehrentz (https://www.peterfehrentz.de) is one of Germany’s most talented visionaries when it comes to interiors. Yet, he’s a gentle giant in his field, a bit of a behind-the-scenes genius, his work is all around but you may not recognize his face if you pass him on the street. Peter isn’t obsessed with fame or becoming a face, he is actually obsessed with beauty, harmony and in creating interior “worlds”. In my eyes, he’s a real powerhouse of creativity as a multidisciplinary designer for over 20 years. He designs residential and commercial spaces, concepts for catalogs, and produces regular features in Germany’s #1 interiors magazine, Schöner Wohnen. He also designs furniture for brands like Luiz, MORE and Grüne Erde, and recently launched his own ecological clay-based paint brand called Nen.do. Peter also photographs his own stories and work for clients, and he is the Author of, “Made By Yourself”. In this podcast, Peter talks about his work and life, what he has learned along the way, how he dives into a project, what drives him and where he finds inspiration – including his most recently one-month long trip to Japan with his Fashion Designer husband, Dirk. Peter is a lot of things to me - kind, talented, balanced, intelligent and a fantastic source of inspiration which is why I’m so happy to share our conversation in this podcast. HELLO HOLLY – the podcast about interior, trends and friends
Stefan Nilsson, most commonly referred to as “trend stefan”, is Sweden’s best-known trend hunter and regularly contributes to TV, radio and magazines. Married to his partner Peter and living in Stockholm, he travels the world in search of interiors trends from China to Brazil, Poland to France and so generously documents his finds online at trendstefan.se since 2006, along with his Instagram account which he started recently. Stefan is sought-after by major fairs and agencies to lecture on trends all over the world, his most recent two being in Brazil and Malmo. His lectures are my personal favorite, I could listen to his speak for hours because he’s witty, knowledgeable and full of energy on all of the many topics that he covers. Stefan has a YouTube channel and also presents his trends on television and radio in Sweden. His popularity in Europe has grown significantly over the years; in fact, he is the only trend hunter in Europe who attends so many fairs and offers full coverage of them all through his social channels, and he’s the only person that brands instantly recognize as being “the” trend hunter in Europe - his bright red hair and warm smile are hard to miss as he scours fairs and design events to see what’s the latest and to predict what’s next. In addition to hunting for trends, Stefan also designs products for brands – his most recently being a playful, decorative Christmas collection for Cult Design Sweden. In this podcast, Stefan speaks about how he got started, trends he sees at the moment, how he feels that soon no one will be shopping anymore (and why), what he looks for at fairs, how he goes about finding trends, and so much more. This podcast is fantastic for anyone who wants to better understand how a trend hunter works and what are some things you can expect to see in the months ahead in the world of interiors. We are completely honored and downright excited to have Holly Becker of Decor8 and Blogging Your Way on the podcast this week! Zandra and I have been reading her blog since it was launched in 2006. First, she digs into why blogging is still relevant and a way for us to get our voices and stories out there. Then she dives into her most recent book "Decorate for a Party: Stylish and Simple Ideas for Meaningful Gatherings“ to inspire us to create homes where we will want to gather our friends and family, let our hair down and enjoy one another’s company. Today Dorothy talks to Stacie Bloomfield of Gingiber, a paper goods and home decor company that offers classic animal-centric illustrated designs that are sweet enough for children, but smart enough for adults. Stacie fills us in on the nitty gritty of growing Gingiber from the ground up, online and in the wholesale world, now in 300 + retail stores and licenses her artwork to many big name brands. She discusses how important it is to be capable of pivoting in your business when needed. "Gingiber is hear to make people happy. Whatever we have on a card, whatever we have an image, whatever we have on a tea towel, it's going to make someone smile." "The reason people will keep working with you, it's not just if you were a good artist, it's if you are a nice person they will remember you. You can say thank you, and then you can show your thank you with a note in the mail, or sending an email. Little acts of gratitude go a long way and building those relationships. If you have a good opportunity, recognize it is, and do some research, send them a thank you note, and really work on that relationship." "I don't need better products. I just need slightly better than person to my left and person to my right. Or, I just need to find a way to stand out a little bit more."
