It's Tuesday July 19th, 2022, and from Port Angeles, this is a look at the information security news from overnight. From BleepingComputer.com:Unknown threat actors are using a previously undetected malware to backdoor macOS devices and exfiltrate information. ESET researchers named the malware CloudMensis because it uses pCloud, Yandex Disk, and Dropbox public cloud storage services for C2 communications. It is not known yet how the malware is distributed. Details in the article. From ZDNet.com:The FBI has warned that criminal groups are creating fraudulent apps that mimic real financial services brands that have so far duped investors into parting with $42.7 million over the past six months. Many of these are mimicking cryptocurrency services as there continue to be a flood of new players in the space and some ambiguity around crypto investing. Details and links to the advisory in the article. From TechCrunch.com:Cleartrip, a popular travel-booking platform in India, has confirmed a data breach after hackers claimed to post the stolen data on the dark web. Exact details of the stolen data are not yet known, however analysis of the screenshots posted make it appear that significant amounts of data were accessed, including forward looking information, which may indicate an insider was involved. From TheHackerNews.com:Researchers have developed a new method to steal data from an air gapped machine using the Serial ATA cable. Dubbed SATAn, the attack uses the SATA cable as a covert channel to emanate electromagnetic signals and transfer information to a nearby receiver just over a meter away. Fortunately, this technique does require physical access to the machine initially, which obviously makes it much more difficult. On the other hand, Stuxnet required physical access as well, so you never know. And last today, from BleepingComputer.com:State-backed Russian hackers have started using legitimate Google Drive cloud storage services to evade detection. It is akin to hiding in plain sight by getting lost in the crowd. Google cloud storage is ubiquitous and pretty much universally trusted. Russian threat actors are abusing that trust to render their attacks exceedingly difficult, if not impossible, to detect and block. That's all for me. Have a great rest of your day. Like and subscribe, and until next time, be safe out there.

It seems like Facebook unfortunately has made it to the forefront for the 84th edition of the Kaspersky Lab Transatlantic Cable podcast. We kick-off looking at the latest in the saga between Facebook and Cambridge Analytica; according to British lawmakers, Facebook may have known about the data-scraping before previously disclosed. To continue with the bad news for the social media giant, a new report notes that the company had stored user passwords in plaintext internally. From there, we jump over to a tale of how sensitive data from a spyware company for consumers was finally taken off the net – it was previously able to be seen by anyone on the web. After that tale, we take a look at the latest on ASUS and Operation Shadowhammer that chronicles a recent discovery by Kaspersky Lab researchers. The story on this one will continue when we kick off SAS in early April. To close out the podcast, we look at how a software glitch caused some serious headaches for travelers in the US.
Toronto artists Amy Lam and Jon McCurley have been collaborating for 13 years as Life of a Craphead. On this week’s episode, we talked about their current exhibition, “Entertaining Every Second,” which has toured throughout Canada to its current site of Montreal; self-organizing a 30-show live even series called Doored; why cutting your teeth on stage makes you a better sculptor; the glaring problems with Ken Burns’ “Vietnam” documentary; King Edward VII; whether or not people in Toronto live in bars; and so much more. The outro music is “Ontario” by Neil Young.
Episode 034 - We have Drag Racing promoter Po Tung on the show. Grudge Kings is arguably one of the biggest Drag Racing meets in Australia. His event offers a $50,000 prize for first place in the Doored steel roof and quarters shootout. His insight into Grudge Racing and his work in promoting this event is second to none. We also chat regarding some of Alan Jones comments regarding Liberty Media, a quick chat regarding the controversy surrounding No Prep Kings plus more.
Bio: Life of a Craphead is Amy Lam and Jon Pham McCurley, and they are both from Toronto. In a strange and apt representation of their necessary and tenuous connections to Canadian cultural institutions and granting systems, they have presented art from multiple disciplines that they did not document, and they have documented work that they did not present. They run the integral performance art series Doored and their first feature length film Bugs is out now on DVD and VHS through Random Man. Recording notes: This interview was recorded at the kitchen table in Double Double Land, a DIY venue in Kensington Market. There's a great profile of her in Canadian Art, where you can see a lot of her paintings. Nadia Belerique makes installations and works with steel. Her website looks like a xeroxed zine. In today’s podcast, Richard L. Duquette discusses Ten Tips to Avoid Being Doored. Richard’s prior episode discussed the Door Zone Debate and where to ride to be safe and in compliance with the law. How Often Does It Happen Cyclists are doored more often that you would think. Although cyclist try hard to avoid this dangerous occurrence, it is second only to a vehicular right hook turn as a cause of bicycle injuries. Richard has successfully investigating and resolving several doored injury cases, he’s offering his tips to avoid an injury. Tip #1 Choose a safe wide route. Avoid one that is lined with cars. Prevention is the best cure, always. Your route is critical so pick a safe one with a bike lane or bike route lane so there is separation between you and the parked cars. Ride as far to the right as possible but when in a bike lane, move as far to the left as possible to give you more space especially if the lane is buffered. If you are riding in a group, ride single file as opposed to side by side. Tip #2 Slow down and pay attention. If you are riding on a car-lined route, slowing down and paying attention instead of conversing with someone next to you will improve your reaction and braking time in a heavily congested area. Ride single file. To hear the rest of Richard’s Ten Tips to Avoid Being Doored, download and listen to the entire episode. If you are short on time, here are the highlights of Ten Tips to Avoid Being Doored: What is being doored? (1:52) Where should you keep your hands? You have to wonder what direction our country is heading in when you hear things like this… Because in an age when crime and terrorism are running rampant in America and we fear for our safety… we have a senator in Washington who wants to change the names of certain places that offend people. Now to put this into context… Apparently there are nearly 1,500 federally recognized places in the United States that contain racial slurs. So the question is… how far are they going to take it? And how much time and taxpayers money will be wasted in this obsession about being politically correct? You see, changing a place name is a complicated process. Each request gets passed from department to department with ridiculous amounts of red tape involved. But here's the point… The government should be focusing their resources on improving the economy and the safety of our people; not on nonsense like this. So what has this got to do with trading options? Well, the average person wastes their time and money in a similar fashion. They listen to talking heads on T.V. or are aimlessly occupied by trivial and unimportant things that do nothing to enrich their big picture goal, such as their health and wealth. Now, I'm no expert on health, but I do know it's important to have a better change at living longer and the reason I get after it 6 days a week in the gym. I also don't train myself, I go to gym with professionals that know what they are doing and do it everyday. What I am an expert in though it building wealth and I do know a great way to do that is with trading options. It's worked well for me over the years, and I know it can for you too. If you're tired of watching another mind numbing sitcom or listening to another useless talking head on TV and want something to enrich your mind with providing proven secrets to build your trading success. Listen to these twelve "normal" traders and investors tell you how they have achieved success and how they put their money where there mouth is. https://sizzle.samcart.com/products/investor-audio-interviews To your wealth, freedom and options!
