professorjrod@gmail.comLearn essential IT skills development for passing your CompTIA exams in mobile tech support. A detailed guide to the mobile era for tech exam prep.Phones aren't just gadgets anymore—they're identity, payments, photos, and the keys to work. We take you on a clear, practical tour of the mobile landscape that A+ technicians need to master, from touch layers and camera flex cables to SoCs, batteries, and the accessories that turn a slab of glass into a full workstation. Along the way, we connect the dots between hardware and human stakes: why a loose port mimics a dead battery, how a single certificate blocks corporate Wi‑Fi, and what swollen cells tell you about urgency and safety. We walk through laptop displays and storage—LCD vs OLED, CCFL vs LED backlights, SATA vs NVMe—and explain how soldered RAM and SSDs affect upgrade paths and purchasing advice. Then we map the wireless terrain: Wi‑Fi 5, Wi‑Fi 6, and Wi‑Fi 7 tradeoffs; Bluetooth profiles like A2DP and HID; NFC's tiny range with outsized impact; and mobile broadband with APN, hotspot, and plan pitfalls. On the software side, we compare iOS and Android security models, sandboxing, permissions, and backup strategies; we also show how iCloud, Google, and Exchange sync turn a reset from disaster into a routine fix.Security gets the spotlight: strong lock combos, malware symptoms that masquerade as battery or data issues, malicious QR codes, and why remote wipe is the right call for lost corporate devices. We share a tested troubleshooting playbook—start with simple checks like rotation lock, clean charging ports before replacing batteries, reseat camera cables before swapping modules, and confirm enterprise certs before blaming antennas. Finally, we double down on ethics and workflow: back up first, label everything, respect privacy, and return devices better than they arrived. If you care about faster fixes, safer data, and smarter mobile support, you'll find ready-to-use steps and exam-ready insights here. AODocs manages business-critical documents for enterprises where downtime has real consequences—production lines stopping, construction projects delayed, containers sitting at ports. Founded in 2012 and bootstrapped to profitability by 2022, the company serves Google's data center builds, aerospace manufacturers' FAA certifications, and Veolia's water treatment operations. In this episode of Category Visionaries, we sat down with Stéphan Donzé, Founder of AODocs, to unpack his 14-year journey from Google ecosystem specialist to Microsoft-compatible platform. Stéphan shares unfiltered lessons from the brutal 2014-15 years when cloud platform limitations broke customer deployments, why they've reconsidered fundraising every two years but remained independent, and how AI agents finally created the urgency factor their category always lacked. Topics Discussed: Surviving 2014-15 when Google Cloud platform performance limits broke at scale Bootstrapping via services company profits until standalone profitability in 2022 Why long-term document lifecycle management (10-30 year retention) resists VC timelines Expanding from Google workspace early adopters to Microsoft enterprise accounts The failed experiment with cloud reseller partners who couldn't deploy DMS Why marketing hire ramp time equals technical hire ramp for platform products Medium-sized industry conferences outperforming 30K-attendee mega-events on cost-per-lead Positioning as document foundation for reliable AI agent information access GTM Lessons For B2B Founders: Transparent post-mortem communication converts crises into trust: When AODocs hit unexpected Google Cloud platform limitations in 2014-15—breaking deployments for customers running mission-critical workflows—they published detailed explanations of root causes outside their control and remediation plans. Stéphan explained: "We've always been extremely transparent...Yes, we screwed up here. Here is the thing we put in place so that it doesn't happen again." This approach consistently strengthened customer relationships during their worst incidents. For founders in business-critical infrastructure: your crisis response protocols matter more than preventing every outage. Bootstrap via complementary services revenue until product-market fit: AODocs funded development by merging with a Google Cloud consulting firm that deployed early Gmail enterprise implementations. Services profits subsidized product R&D while providing direct customer access. Stéphan described the deal structure: "I have a software company that has no revenue, but I can suck the profit of the service company until I make revenue." The model worked until 2022 when AODocs became independently profitable. For technical founders: identify services businesses with your target customer base as bootstrap partners, not just revenue sources. Partner technical capability trumps partner pipeline size: AODocs initially partnered with Google Cloud resellers (SATA, Onix) who had enterprise access but couldn't scope or deploy document management implementations. The inflection point came shifting to system integrators with actual DMS practices. Stéphan noted: "These guys don't really understand document management...they could not really help us deploy our product because they don't understand what we're doing." For complex B2B products: vet partners on technical delivery capacity, not just lead generation promises. Platform products require 12-month marketing onboarding: AODocs learned marketing hires need equivalent ramp time as engineering roles—not two one-pagers and go-to-market. Stéphan's realization: "It takes a year before someone is able to write the right things and to sense the essence of the product." This applies specifically to platforms with multiple use cases, not point solutions. For founders with horizontal platforms: budget full-year onboarding before expecting marketing productivity, or hire people who've sold similar complexity before. Founder must own category positioning until $10M ARR: Stéphan argues technical founders can't delegate core messaging early: "My personal take is that in the tech company the CMO cannot be anybody else than the founder itself at least for the first $10 million." This comes from watching marketing experts produce "beautiful words and lots of fluff but still not get the essence of what we're doing." For technical founders uncomfortable with marketing: you're avoiding your most important job in the early years. Regional 2K-5K conferences deliver better unit economics than flagship 30K events: While AODocs attends Google Next (30,000) and Gartner conferences, smaller regional IT decision-maker events generated superior cost-per-qualified-lead. Stéphan's finding: "If you look at the number of dollars you spend per lead that you get, the small events are surprisingly effective." This contradicts conventional wisdom about flagship event ROI. For enterprise B2B: test regional and vertical conferences before scaling spend on mega-events. Technology paradigm shifts create replacement urgency: AODocs positioned as "modern cloud-based document management" for years without forcing function to rip out legacy systems. AI agents changed the calculus entirely. Stéphan's repositioning: "If you don't upgrade your document foundation, you won't be able to benefit from the AI productivity acceleration." The urgency comes from AI agents requiring clean, validated document repositories—impossible with SharePoint chaos. For founders in infrastructure categories: look for adjacent technology waves that make your solution prerequisite, not optional upgrade. // Sponsors: Front Lines — We help B2B tech companies launch, manage, and grow podcasts that drive demand, awareness, and thought leadership. www.FrontLines.io The Global Talent Co. — We help tech startups find, vet, hire, pay, and retain amazing marketing talent that costs 50-70% less than the US & Europe. www.GlobalTalent.co // Don't Miss: New Podcast Series — How I Hire Senior GTM leaders share the tactical hiring frameworks they use to build winning revenue teams. During this series of informative podcasts, we'll bring you foundational training on the most popular Oracle technologies. Let's get started! 00:25 Nikita: Welcome to the Oracle University Podcast! I'm Nikita Abraham, Team Lead of Editorial Services with Oracle University, and with me is Lois Houston, Director of Innovation Programs. Lois: Hey there! Last week, we spoke about the differences between traditional and cloud data centers, and covered components like CPU, RAM, and operating systems. If you haven't listened to the episode yet, I'd suggest going back and listening to it before you dive into this one. Nikita: Joining us again is Orlando Gentil, Principal OCI Instructor at Oracle University, and we're going to ask him about another fundamental concept: storage. 01:04 Lois: That's right, Niki. Hi Orlando! Thanks for being with us again today. You introduced cloud data centers last week, but tell us, how is data stored and accessed in these centers? Orlando: At a fundamental level, storage is where your data resides persistently. Data stored on a storage device is accessed by the CPU and, for specialized tasks, the GPU. The RAM acts as a high-speed intermediary, temporarily holding data that the CPU and the GPU are actively working on. This cyclical flow ensures that applications can effectively retrieve, process, and store information, forming the backbone for our computing operations in the data center. 01:52 Nikita: But how is data organized and controlled on disks? Orlando: To effectively store and manage data on physical disks, a structured approach is required, which is defined by file systems and permissions. The process began with disks. These are the raw physical storage devices. Before data can be written to them, disks are typically divided into partitions. A partition is a logical division of a physical disk that acts as if it were a separated physical disk. This allows you to organize your storage space and even install multiple operating systems on a single drive. Once partitions are created, they are formatted with a file system. 02:40 Nikita: Ok, sorry but I have to stop you there. Can you explain what a file system is? And how is data organized using a file system? Orlando: The file system is the method and the data structure that an operating system uses to organize and manage files on storage devices. It dictates how data is named, is stored, retrieved, and managed on the disk, essentially providing the roadmap for data. Common file systems include NTFS for Windows and ext4 or XFS for Linux. Within this file system, data is organized hierarchically into directories, also known as folders. These containers help to logically group related files, which are the individual units of data, whether they are documents, images, videos, or applications. Finally, overseeing this entire organization are permissions. 03:42 Lois: And what are permissions? Orlando: Permissions define who can access a specific files and directories and what actions they are allowed to perform-- for example, read, write, or execute. This access control, often managed by user, group, and other permissions, is fundamental for security, data integrity, and multi-user environments within a data center. 04:09 Lois: Ok, now that we have a good understanding of how data is organized logically, can we talk about how data is stored locally within a server? Orlando: Local storage refers to storage devices directly attached to a server or computer. The three common types are Hard Disk Drive. These are traditional storage devices using spinning platters to store data. They offer large capacity at a lower cost per gigabyte, making them suitable for bulk data storage when high performance isn't the top priority. Unlike hard disks, solid state drives use flash memory to store data, similar to USB drives but on a larger scale. They provide significantly faster read and write speeds, better durability, and lower power consumption than hard disks, making them ideal for operating systems, applications, and frequently accessed data. Non-Volatile Memory Express is a communication interface specifically designed for solid state that connects directly to the PCI Express bus. NVME offers even faster performance than traditional SATA-based solid state drives by reducing latency and increasing bandwidth, making it the top choice for demanding workloads that require extreme speed, such as high-performance databases and AI applications. Each type serves different performance and cost requirements within a data center. While local storage is essential for immediate access, data center also heavily rely on storage that isn't directly attached to a single server. 05:59 Lois: I'm guessing you're hinting at remote storage. Can you tell us more about that, Orlando? Orlando: Remote storage refers to data storage solutions that are not physically connected to the server or client accessing them. Instead, they are accessed over the network. This setup allows multiple clients or servers to share access to the same storage resources, centralizing data management and improving data availability. This architecture is fundamental to cloud computing, enabling vast pools of shared storage that can be dynamically provisioned to various users and applications. 06:35 Lois: Let's talk about the common forms of remote storage. Can you run us through them? Orlando: One of the most common and accessible forms of remote storage is Network Attached Storage or NAS. NAS is a dedicated file storage device connected to a network that allows multiple users and client devices to retrieve data from a centralized disk capacity. It's essentially a server dedicated to serving files. A client connects to the NAS over the network. And the NAS then provides access to files and folders. NAS devices are ideal for scenarios requiring shared file access, such as document collaboration, centralized backups, or serving media files, making them very popular in both home and enterprise environments. While NAS provides file-level access over a network, some applications, especially those requiring high performance and direct block level access to storage, need a different approach. 07:38 Nikita: And what might this approach be? Orlando: Internet Small Computer System Interface, which provides block-level storage over an IP network. iSCSI or Internet Small Computer System Interface is a standard that allows the iSCSI protocol traditionally used for local storage to be sent over IP networks. Essentially, it enables servers to access storage devices as if they were directly attached even though they are located remotely on the network. This means it can leverage standard ethernet infrastructure, making it a cost-effective solution for creating high performance, centralized storage accessible over an existing network. It's particularly useful for server virtualization and database environments where block-level access is preferred. While iSCSI provides block-level access over standard IP, for environments demanding even higher performance, lower latency, and greater dedicated throughput, a specialized network is often deployed. 08:47 Nikita: And what's this specialized network called? Orlando: Storage Area Network or SAN. A Storage Area Network or SAN is a high-speed network specifically designed to provide block-level access to consolidated shared storage. Unlike NAS, which provides file level access, a SAN presents a storage volumes to servers as if they were local disks, allowing for very high performance for applications like databases and virtualized environments. While iSCSI SANs use ethernet, many high-performance SANs utilize fiber channel for even faster and more reliable data transfer, making them a cornerstone of enterprise data centers where performance and availability are paramount. 09:42 Oracle University's Race to Certification 2025 is your ticket to free training and certification in today's hottest technology. That's education.oracle.com/race-to-certification-2025. 10:26 Nikita: Welcome back! Orlando, are there any other popular storage paradigms we should know about? Orlando: Beyond file level and block level storage, cloud environments have popularized another flexible and highly scalable storage paradigm, object storage. Object storage is a modern approach to storing data, treating each piece of data as a distinct, self-contained unit called an object. Unlike file systems that organize data in a hierarchy or block storage that breaks data into fixed size blocks, object storage manages data as flat, unstructured objects. Each object is stored with unique identifiers and rich metadata, making it highly scalable and flexible for massive amounts of data. This service handles the complexity of storage, providing access to vast repositories of data. Object storage is ideal for use cases like cloud-native applications, big data analytics, content distribution, and large-scale backups thanks to its immense scalability, durability, and cost effectiveness. While object storage is excellent for frequently accessed data in rapidly growing data sets, sometimes data needs to be retained for very long periods but is accessed infrequently. For these scenarios, a specialized low-cost storage tier, known as archive storage, comes into play. 12:02 Lois: And what's that exactly? Orlando: Archive storage is specifically designed for long-term backup and retention of data that you rarely, if ever, access. This includes critical information, like old records, compliance data that needs to be kept for regulatory reasons, or disaster recovery backups. The key characteristics of archive storage are extremely low cost per gigabyte, achieved by optimizing for infrequent access rather than speed. Historically, tape backup systems were the common solution for archiving, where data from a data center is moved to tape. In modern cloud environments, this has evolved into cloud backup solutions. Cloud-based archiving leverages high-cost, effective during cloud storage tiers that are purpose built for long term retention, providing a scalable and often more reliable alternative to physical tapes. 13:05 Lois: Thank you, Orlando, for taking the time to talk to us about the hardware and software layers of cloud data centers. This information will surely help our listeners to make informed decisions about cloud infrastructure to meet their workload needs in terms of performance, scalability, cost, and management. Nikita: That's right, Lois. And if you want to learn more about what we discussed today, head over to mylearn.oracle.com and search for the Cloud Tech Jumpstart course. Lois: In our next episode, we'll take a look at more of the fundamental concepts within modern cloud environments, such as Hypervisors, Virtualization, and more. I can't wait to learn more about it. Until then, this is Lois Houston… Nikita: And Nikita Abraham, signing off! 13:47 That's all for this episode of the Oracle University Podcast. A poluição é brutal.”

This episode was first broadcast on 22 March 2024.As technological innovations happen, it can be easy to forget that even the most complex systems rely on large networks of basic infrastructure to operate. At the most fundamental level, all tech products rely on effective data storage But this is easier said than done. Each byte of data has to be stored somewhere, on a rack, disk, tape, or flash device. As the world embraces hardware and software that creates data at an even faster rate, businesses will be forced to push the frontiers of data storage and evaluate their data management strategies. In this episode, Jane and Rory speak to Tom Coughlin, president and CEO of the IEEE, to learn more about how data storage will continue to evolve and what organizations can do to keep up with innovation in the space.Read more:Best SSDs 2023: The top NVMe and SATA drives around10 things to consider when buying an external hard disk-based storage deviceWhat is machine learning and why is it important? What is generative artificial intelligence (AI)?Who owns the data used to train AI?How to choose the right storage medium for your organization's backup strategyThree keys to successful data managementStructured vs unstructured data management5 things to consider when selecting your next online storage providerHow close is glass data storage to scaled enterprise use?

Allen Hall: Starting off the week, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners has secured financial close on the 495 megawatt Fengmiao offshore wind project off Taiwan's Coast. This Marks CIP's third offshore wind project in Taiwan and is the first of Taiwan's round three projects to start construction. The project secured approximately $3.1 billion in financing from 27 banks with debt partially guaranteed by export credit agencies. Now Vestas will supply 33 of its latest 15 megawatt turbines for the projects and construction will finish by late 2027 with six corporate customers already signed for long-term power purchase agreements covering its entire capacity. Dan McGrail Interim, CEO of Britain's new state owned GB Energy believes the UK should challenge oversee renewable energy companies by exporting its expertise globally. McGrail sees floating offshore wind as a huge opportunity for British technology leveraging existing supply chains from the oil and gas industry. He aims to shift focus from importing parts to building them domestically, which could create an export industry over time. GE Vernova will equip two RWE farms in Texas with over 100 turbines with deliveries beginning later this year. The projects will help RWE surpass one gigawatt of rebuilt and repowered wind capacity across the US and generate enough electricity to power approximately 85,000 Texas homes and businesses annually. Boosting US content. Then the sales for the project will be manufactured at GE Vernova's Florida facility, which employs about 20% Veterans. RWE's Chief Operating Officer emphasized their commitment to American energy production and strengthening domestic manufacturing and supply chains. GE Vernova's Entre Wind Division currently has a total installed base of 56,000 turbines worldwide with nearly 120 gigawatts of installed capacity. Abu Dhabi's Masdar is considering acquiring a stake and total energy's Portuguese renewable energy assets. The deal will likely be through SATA yield. The Green Energy Company masar purchased from Brookfield last year. This would add to MAs dollar's growing European portfolio, which includes recent acquisitions in Spain and Greece as the company works towards its global target of 100 gigawatts by 2030. Total Energy is currently has about 600 megawatts of installed renewable capacity in Portugal, mostly higher valued wind power assets. Total energy. CEO previously mentioned plans to divest around two gigawatts annually as part of portfolio consolidation. And that wraps up our wind industry headlines from Monday, March 24th. The conversation continues tomorrow on the Uptime Wind Energy Podcast, where we'll explore even more insights shaping the future of renewable energy. And don't forget to join our exclusive live webinar this Wednesday featuring Sky Specs New CEO Dave Roberts. He'll be sharing his roadmap for the company's exciting future.

Are aliens real? And if they are, what does the Bible say about aliens? The history of the world is filled with accounts of unexplained phenomena. Everything from UFOs, visions, and even advanced technology — all these things may be evidence of aliens. But there's another side: could these things be demons instead, or the angel agents of the Enemy? In this episode of the Revelation Podcast, Amy and Reagan discuss Christianity and aliens. Are they out there, are they real, and are they benevolent — or a challenge to our faith? We examine verses in the Bible that indicate the possibility of alien life, along with modern-day news and research showing that aliens may walk among us.Join us on our journey through space and time as we uncover the truths being hidden from us by popular media. Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode:Find understanding in integrating inquiry into your faith rather than blindly accepting information given to you by outside sources.Discover the historical and cultural influences behind how we view the supernatural and extraterrestrial in the modern day.Learn the value of critical thinking paired with open mindedness, especially when it comes to understanding what the Bible says about aliens and other paranormal events.Want to be part of what God is doing through the Revelations Podcast? But we can strengthen ourselves through the Bible.[12:12] What Does the Bible Say About Aliens? Some Bible stories and other religious texts may indicate that the ancient prophets had experiences with extraterrestrials. These stories include the Nephilim, Zachariah's flying scroll, the watchers on Mount Hermon, and more.Aliens and demons may have similarities as well. It's vital that we use the Bible to understand these phenomena and encourage Christians to approach the topic without fear.[13:18] Amy: “We don't have all the answers. But when you start to look at these mysterious verses, are they going to start to make a little more sense as the days draw near? Potentially, yes.”As Christians, we have to understand the power and authority in Jesus Christ to face these confusing times with wisdom and discernment.[22:45] Importance of Discussing Controversial Topics in ChristianityDiscussing topics like extraterrestrial life and UFOs openly is crucial for Christians to stay informed and prepared. The conversation should be rooted in humility and reliance on the Holy Spirit, acknowledging that not all answers are known by man.Demons need a body to inhabit and are possibly the dead spirits of the Nephilim.Fallen Angels could possible be the extra-terrestrial life we call Aliens.[23:33] Reagan: “God knows everything. So if they [fallen angels] brought any of that knowledge to Earth, right, because Satan is always trying to be God and counterfeit God.”It's vital that, through Jesus, we overcome our fear and anxiety. These negative emotions can be exploited by the Enemy.[31:15] Humanity and Alien Influence Throughout HistoryMedia and celebrities significantly influence public perception, often promoting fear and confusion. These outside influences have converted people into thinking that aliens and demons are cute and friendly, such as depictions of garden gnomes, mermaids, or faeries.Evil organizations such as the Third Reich have always attempted to use alien knowledge to further their goals.Christians should find ways to present the gospel and biblical truth in the context of current events, history, and popular culture.[42:09] Amy: “It's all connected. And so you see kind of this full kind of timeline of what is potentially happening here. Sounds like Fallen Angel technology is what it sounds like to me.”[42:34] Christianity and Aliens in the Modern EraChristians are called to stand firm in their faith, equipped with the knowledge and power of Jesus Christ, to face the bizarre and often frightening events in the world. The importance of rooting out fear and trauma to prevent the enemy from exploiting these vulnerabilities.Even your history and genetics can affect your connection to God.Encouragement to use discernment and wisdom, bolstered by scripture, to navigate the complexities of modern phenomena and media influences.Listen to the full episode for a story from Reagan about a close paranormal encounter she had.About Amy From Eyes on the Right.Amy is an educator, counselor, speaker, and Bible teacher who helps others deepen their understanding of the Scripture.
