In dieser fesselnden Folge von Mein Abenteuer begrüßt Rainer Meutsch einen Gast, dessen Name schon wie ein Abenteuer klingt: Richard Löwenherz – und ja, er heißt wirklich so. Der Berliner Geograf, Meteorologe und Extremradler nimmt uns mit in eine Welt aus endloser Weite, eisigen Wintern und Temperaturen, die jedes Vorstellungsvermögen sprengen. Richard erzählt, wie er mit dem Fahrrad durch Sibirien im Winter fuhr – bei minus 30, minus 40 und sogar minus 50 Grad. Oft schlief er nur im Schlafsack, unter freiem Himmel, ohne Zelt. Er berichtet von frostigen Nächten, eingefrorenen Benzinkochern, gefährlichen Winterwegen über Flüsse und Sümpfe, Schneestürmen in der Arktis und sogar einem Einbruch ins Eis, aus dem er nur mit Mut, Ruhe und etwas Glück entkam. Er schildert das Leben in abgelegenen Dörfern, die nur im Winter erreichbar sind, seine Begegnungen mit der lokalen Bevölkerung und die Faszination einer Landschaft, die glitzert, knirscht und gleichzeitig lebensfeindlich ist. Ein Gespräch über Grenzerfahrungen, Kälte, die an die Substanz geht, die Kraft des eigenen Willens – und über einen Abenteurer, der die Einsamkeit und Schönheit des Winters sucht wie kaum ein anderer.

Federal and state governments play significant roles in both public and private universities. The federal role in research is, at once, old enough to now span three-plus generations and yet recent enough that many people—ironically, those who rely on it most—are unaware of its origins. Recent actions by the federal government to cut billions of dollars from previously-approved research grants to universities, academic medical centers, and independent research institutes came as a shock to many, partly because they had assumed the process to be more or less engrained in law and policy and one of the ways by which research was funded. Richard McCormick—three-time president of major research universities and an historian—offers a clear and compelling account of how the federal role in research began during World War II and evolved over the decades that followed. In today's INNOVATORS, he presents that historical portrait and, in doing so, suggests that recent shifts in federal policy may be less surprising than some have expressed, as they are, at least in part, in keeping with the public's changed and changing broader understanding and appreciation of higher education. This is the second in a year-long series of INNOVATORS podcasts that began with the commentary of Daniel Linzer on the more prominent features of support for scientific and biomedical research. McGill’s Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences confirmed last week that four major space telescopes, have confirmed unusual findings about a comet called 3I/ATLAS. Ein junger Mann, der sich bis an die Spitze hocharbeitet, zum Baron aufsteigt, politisch mitmischt – und schließlich sogar an einem der wichtigsten Dokumente der westlichen Geschichte mitschreibt. Zu seinen Weggefährten zählen Legenden wie Richard Löwenherz und König Johann Ohneland. Das vielleicht Verrückteste: Guillaume verdankt seinen Aufstieg nicht Schlachten oder Intrigen, sondern vor allem dem Turnierfeld. Dort wurde er zu einer lebenden Legende und kein anderer Ritter war erfolgreicher. Sein Titel ist bis heute Programm: Der größte aller Ritter. Richard L. Kramár je básnik, režisér, kabaretiér a libretista. V súčasnosti je študentom doktorandského štúdia v odbore dramatická umění na JAMU v Brne. V rokoch 2014-2016 zakladal a spolu-viedol (s Teréziou Klasovou) nezávislý kultúrny priestor Divadlo na ôsmom poschodí v Bratislave. Je spoluzakladateľom viacerých spolkov a konceptuálnych umeleckých buniek. Publikoval tri básnické zbierky: Štuchanie do medúz (Spolek přátel Psího vína, 2017), Úchopový Inštinkt (BRAK, 2021) a BORDERLINE (s Kino Peklo, Adolescent, 2022). Len pred pár dňami mu vyšla nová, štvrtá básnická zbierka.
