When the workings of an electricity market come to the attention of the White House, it's usually a sign that something's wrong. Back in January, 13 state governors went to the White House to agree plans for PJM, the largest electricity market in the US. The market is scrambling to find more energy supply to keep up with the boom in data centers, while holding down ratepayers' bills. Managing the PJM grid is one of the toughest jobs in the US power industry. And these days it is being carried out in the full glare of political and public scrutiny. If you want to understand the pressures bearing down on the US electricity, PJM is the place to look. It is the largest grid in the country, serving 67 million people across 13 states and the District of Columbia. And it is some of the world's most intense hotspots for new data center development, including the famous “data center alley” of northern Virginia, which takes roughly 90% of the country's internet traffic . When things get complicated for PJM, they get complicated for everyone. On this episode, host Ed Crooks is joined by Asim Haque, Senior Vice President for Governmental and Member Services at PJM, and by regular guest Amy Myers Jaffe, Director of the Energy, Climate Justice and Sustainability Lab at New York University. Together, they unpack how PJM got itself noticed by the White House, and how its problems can be tackled.Asim explains the organization he works for. PJM is a nonprofit that operates the grid, runs the electricity market, and plans the transmission system. It is regulated by FERC, but also accountable to a thousand-plus members across 13 states, each with its own energy policies, its own governor, and its own politics. That structural complexity is central to why running PJM is so challenging. Those problems converged from two directions: decarbonization and data centers. The result has been soaring prices in the PJM capacity market. And when those prices were capped, the alarms about a future reliability crisis started flashing red.The White House responded by convening all 13 governors of the states covered by PJM, and produced a statement of principles for bringing new generation capacity into the market. As Asim explains, these principles lie behind the plan for a backstop reliability procurement, designed as a one-time mechanism to bring new electricity supply onto the system quickly. There is also an expectation that data centres will bring their own generation; and a "connect and manage" framework for those that don't. The key feature of that: data centers can have their supply curtailed before residential customers lose power. The White House and the governors agreed that the bill for grid and generation improvements to meet rising demand should be paid by the data centers. It sounds straightforward, but is it really? Asim explains his perspective. The episode also examines the deeper design questions about PJM's capacity market: whether a three-year forward procurement window can send the right signals for the long-term investment the grid now needs. Amy brings the consumer and policy lens throughout. Are the complexities of cost allocation and market design inherent to the electricity system, or are they manufactured and even sometimes exaggerated? And can they sometimes militate against lower-cost solutions such as renewables and batteries?Asim ends by offering some advice for other grid operators. If you are not going to gate demand, you need a connect-and-manage approach; if you are not going to gate demand, it will get expensive; and if it is going to get expensive, you need to decide who pays. Governmental investigations can strike anxiety into any health care organization. Richard Merino, Managing Director, BRG, speaks with Leia Olsen, Lead System Compliance & Investigations Counsel, Ascension, Jonathan Porter, Partner, Husch Blackwell LLP, and William Brady, Partner, Holland & Knight LLP, about how health care organizations can strategically respond to governmental inquiries. They discuss the different types of investigative demands, how governmental investigations usually start, the first 48 hours and why organizations should conduct “parallel investigations,” why collaboration with the government usually makes sense, and when to approach the question of a settlement. Leia, Jonathan, and William spoke about this topic at AHLA's 2025 Fraud and Compliance Forum in Baltimore, MD. FOLLOW UP: NTSB REPORTS ON FATAL BLUECRUISE INCIDENTSThe National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has published their report on two fatal incidents that involved Ford's BlueCruise semi-automated driving system, that allows for ‘hands off eyes on' driving. Some blame is being put on the driver's “over-reliance” in the systems, but also it is made clear the company and regulations played a part. if you wish to read more on the findings, click this CNN article link here. However, the findings fail to discuss the inherent flaw in the system that has been documented from as far back as April 1948, when it comes to humans supervising automated systems. These boxes will record their journeys and from the binary inputs of those drivers they will be ‘judged' on how well they drive. This is despicable because the technology cannot judge because it is only using the binary inputs on braking, accelerating and steering with absolutely no knowledge of the environment or anything occurring around the vehicle. Luke 12:35-36 stands as one of the most crucial passages for serious believers in this present hour. This scripture provides us with three essential insights: it clarifies our marching order and prophetically instructs us on how to live faithfully amid present darkness, and helps us prioritize what truly matters as we align ourselves with God's prophetic intentions for our day.As I've meditated on this passage in light of my own spiritual journey and where I stand in God's purposes, one truth emerges with striking clarity: the Lord commands His disciples to keep their lamps burning if they are to remain relevant to His redemptive counsel and ready for His return. The Psalmist declared, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). While there are many practical applications we can draw from this imagery, I want to focus specifically on how this relates to the Lord's return. We must remain ready in service, continuing steadfastly in whatever the Spirit of the Lord has called us to do.The Enemy's Strategy: Snuffing Out Your LightThe danger we face is real and immediate: we can be derailed, distracted, or find ourselves in situations where our lamps are snuffed out by the deception of the evil one. The enemy's lies are designed specifically to extinguish the light that God has placed within us.Therefore, beloved saints and biblical students, I urge you: Do not allow the enemy's lies to turn off your lamp. Keep your hearts alert to the reality of the Lord's return. Stay ready in service. Continue faithfully in your calling. Let nothing, no deception, no distraction, no discouragement extinguish the light of God's Word burning within you. The times demand our vigilance. Our lamps must keep burning.
Introduction to the Solution Methane is one of the most powerful drivers of near-term global warming, and also one of the fastest opportunities to slow it down. In this episode of Climate Break, we explore how a global network of states and provinces is working together to reduce methane emissions through shared knowledge, technical assistance, and peer learning. Ethan Elkind speaks with Shivani Shukla, a methane research fellow at UC Berkeley, about the Subnational Methane Action Coalition (SMAC) and how subnational governments can play an outsized role in addressing this urgent climate pollutant. Why Methane Matters Methane is a colorless, odorless gas responsible for nearly one-third of current global warming. Over a 20-year period, methane traps roughly 80 times more heat per molecule than carbon dioxide. Its climate impact is further amplified by the way it contributes to the formation of tropospheric ozone and adds water vapor to the stratosphere, increasing its overall warming effect. Unlike carbon dioxide, methane comes from a relatively limited set of sources. Major contributors include landfills and wastewater facilities, agriculture (particularly livestock digestion and rice cultivation), and fossil fuel systems such as oil, gas, and coal operations. Because these sources are concentrated and well understood, methane reductions are often technically feasible and cost-effective, especially when captured methane can be repurposed as fuel. The Subnational Methane Action Coalition (SMAC) Launched at COP28 in 2023, the Subnational Methane Action Coalition is a global network of state and provincial governments working to reduce methane emissions. SMAC began with 15 founding members, spearheaded by California, and has since expanded to include dozens of subnational governments and observers worldwide. SMAC is supported by researchers at UC Berkeley's Center for Law, Energy & the Environment, which provides participating governments with technical assistance on methane inventories, policy design, and action planning. The coalition also connects members with experts, data partners, and peer jurisdictions that have implemented successful methane reduction strategies. Climate policy is often designed and implemented at the national level, but states and provinces frequently have direct jurisdiction over major methane sources, including waste management, agriculture, and energy infrastructure. Subnational governments are therefore uniquely positioned to pilot solutions that can later be scaled nationally or replicated elsewhere. Through SMAC's peer network, members can share lessons learned, adapt policies to their regional contexts, and avoid duplicating efforts. A state that has developed an effective approach to reducing agricultural methane, for example, can share that model with other regions facing similar challenges. Upsides to SMAC One of SMAC's key strengths is its emphasis on capacity-building. Many subnational governments (particularly those with limited resources) lack the technical expertise or staffing needed to design and implement methane mitigation programs. SMAC addresses this gap by offering tailored technical support, expert-led webinars, and communities of practice focused on specific methane sources. Methane mitigation also offers strong near-term climate benefits. Because methane dissipates from the atmosphere more quickly than carbon dioxide, reducing emissions can slow warming almost immediately. In many cases, methane solutions are relatively low-cost and non-repetitive, involving infrastructure upgrades or operational changes rather than ongoing behavioral shifts by individuals. Challenges in SMAC Despite its promise, SMAC faces several challenges. Political turnover can disrupt momentum, as changes in leadership may shift climate priorities or reduce ambition. Sustained funding is another barrier, particularly for jurisdictions that need upfront investment to implement methane reduction technologies. There is also an important broader critique: focusing heavily on methane should not come at the expense of long-term carbon dioxide reductions. While methane mitigation is a powerful short-term strategy, CO₂ remains in the atmosphere far longer and continues to drive warming over centuries. SMAC does not frame methane reduction as a replacement for CO₂ action, but rather as a complementary strategy within a broader climate portfolio. Shukla's Take Shivani Shukla emphasizes that SMAC is fundamentally about collaboration and shared learning. By connecting subnational governments across regions and sectors, the coalition helps members overcome technical and capacity constraints while fostering leadership on methane mitigation. She also highlights the global nature of methane pollution and the importance of cross-border cooperation to address it effectively. About Our Guest Shivani Shukla is a Research Fellow in the Project Climate program at UC Berkeley Law's Center for Law, Energy and the Environment (CLEE). Shivani co-leads the Subnational Methane Action Coalition, where she focuses on climate and environmental policies, particularly on methane and natural resources at the subnational level. Prior to joining CLEE, Shivani was a two-time EDF Climate Corps Fellow and conducted interdisciplinary climate policy research across academia, private and public sectors in the U.S.A., Ireland and India. Shivani graduated from the MPP program at the University of Chicago and a Masters in Applied Economics from University College Dublin. She is currently based in New York. Denis Villeneuve's film 'Sicario' remains a vital and prescient glimpse into extra-judicial Governmental activities and the blurring of lines on both sides of the drug war, all brilliantly rendered by top-notch cinematography from Roger Deakins and a host of career-best performances from actors like Emily Blunt, James Brolin, Daniel Kaluuya, and, especially, Benicio Del Toro. Harrowing, procedural, understated, and complicated, the film unfolds with confidence in the journey it takes viewers on, with a refreshing lack of hand-holding and over-explanation.
Stopping Governmental Theft of Property Not only are some people losing their homes to obscene property tax levels, there is now a case in Rhode Island in which the government was trying to steal acreage to prevent apartments from being built. We talk about that case, which Pacific Legal Foundation is helping the family to fight, as well as the problems we are seeing in Ohio with property taxes. We discuss school funding and their results. We also talk about priorities and how you can have the things you want by using appropriate allocation of time and resources. While some people believe that property taxes are "needed", we have seen too much waste, fraud, and abuse in government to pay for things that aren't bringing results. If you see problems in your area, you need to be willing to stand up for what is right to protect your family and those around you. That's how you can make the world a better place! As Maryland heads toward another consequential legislative session, energy policy is once again front and center, and counties are feeling the pressure. In this episode of the Conduit Street Podcast, hosts Kevin Kinnally and Dominic Butchko are joined by Valencia McClure, Senior Vice President of Governmental, Regulatory, and External Affairs at Exelon, for a wide-ranging conversation on energy security, rising costs, and grid reliability. The discussion explores why Maryland is facing growing risks, including surging demand driven by data centers and electrification, limited in-state generation capacity, and an aging grid. McClure explains what it means for Maryland to be a net importer of electricity, why supply costs are driving up residents' bills, and how projected shortfalls could lead to brownouts as early as 2027 if action is delayed. The episode also dives into the evolving policy debate over who should build new generation, the role utilities could play alongside merchant generators, and why counties, though not energy regulators, are often on the front lines when reliability falters or costs spike. For county leaders, policymakers, and anyone trying to understand what's behind today's energy headlines, this conversation offers timely context on the challenges ahead and the decisions that will shape Maryland's energy future.Learn More:Maryland Power Supply Crisis | Take Back Our Power MDFollow us on Socials!MACo on TwitterMACo on Facebook

Send us a messageWe know by the Prophetic word of Truth that the Global Empire of the Antichrist will be comprised of a “One World Religion,” One World Government” and a “One World Economic System.”And as this Global Empire is being constructed, its heartbeat is being echoed from within the “One World Religion” which will work in conjunction with the Antichrist's Governmental and Economic efforts – as this adulterous Harlot rides the Beast during the Tribulation. Many have wondered how so many different religions could come together in agreement when their beliefs are so varied. But through A.I. which we have addressed in other messages, a Virtual Christ will make this unity viable.Additionally, when you take two of the major Religions of the world – namely Roman Catholicism and Islam, and bring them together, you will have the power house which will draw in every other false way as well – bringing all religions into a false unity that has been woven with the thread of beguilement and deception.Which brings us to the important study of “CHRISLAM.” Support the showVisit our website: https://agapelightministries.com/
Following the Bondi shooting, Indian community organisations have responded with calls for stronger government accountability and tighter gun control, while urging the public to remain calm and united. Several groups have also supported the NSW Premier's appeal for blood donations. In this podcast, we bring together these community responses and a first hand eyewitness account from community leader Saroni Roy, who was present at Bondi during the attack and took shelter as the incident unfolded.
Beijing's Economic Desperation: The Triangular Debt Crisis — Andrew Collier — Collier interprets Beijing'spublic calls for state-owned enterprise and private sector cooperation as unmistakable indicators of governmental financial desperation, as the Chinese state systematically fails to compensate private suppliers and contractors. Collier documents that China is experiencing a debt crisis structurally analogous to the "triangular debt" phenomenon of the 1990s, wherein private firms accumulate mounting insolvency as Chinese banking institutions systematically privilege lending to state-backed entities over private sector enterprises, constraining private sector growth essential for technological advancement. 1959

Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Legal and settlements correspondent Jeremy Sharon joins host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Justice Minister Yariv Levin of the ruling Likud party will head a ministerial panel to determine the mandate of the government’s commission of inquiry into failures surrounding the Hamas onslaught of October 7, 2023. Since the murders and atrocities, the government has resisted establishing an investigative body to thoroughly examine how such a disastrous military calamity could befall the country. We discuss first why the change of heart and ask whether the commission will be independent. Security forces and Civil Administration personnel on Monday conducted an evacuation and demolition operation against an illegal settlement outpost in the Gush Etzion region of the West Bank, in an apparent response to accusations from a local council head that there was “anarchy” in the area. Sharon delves into several reasons why this evacuation is significant, especially under the current coalition. Check out The Times of Israel's ongoing liveblog for more updates. Section 133 received Nov 3, 1831 in Hiram Ohio Historical background - By November, 1831, Joseph had compiled many of the Lord's revelations which would eventually become a Book of Commandments, later known as the Doctrine and Covenants. On November 1, 1831, the Lord revealed a “Proclamation” to the world which became the preface to the Book of Commandments, or section 1. Two days later, on November 3, 1831, the Lord revealed an appendix to the Book of Commandments, or section 133 which is a prophetic declaration of what must occur prior to the second coming of Christ. Recap: Christ will appear suddenly in his temple. The saints must flee from Babylon and gather in Zion. Christ will stand on Mount Zion with his 144,000. The continents will become one land and the lost ten tribes will return. The gospel will be preached worldwide. Christ will appear in red apparel. The righteous shall be resurrected and the New Jerusalem will be established while the wicked will be destroyed by fire. Section 134 declared and adopted Aug 17, 1835 in Kirtland Ohio Historical Background – On August 17, 1835, the church held a conference in Kirtland, Ohio to accept the Book of Commandments as scriptural revelations from God. Also, due to the political turmoil and abuses of power, especially the disregarding of constitutional rights and privileges that should have been afforded the saints, it was felt necessary that a statement of beliefs in Governmental laws should be included in the Book of Commandments. Joseph Smith was in Canada at this time and was not present at the conference. Therefore, Oliver Cowdery wrote section 134 outlining the role and purposes of earthly government. This was presented to the saints and it was accepted to be included in the Book of Commandments but as a declaration and not a revelation. When Joseph returned and reviewed the document, he allowed it to stand as is because the saints had already voted their approval during the conference. Recap: Governments are instituted by God for the benefits of mankind and should preserve freedom, protect rights, life and property. Laws should be administered fairly and equally. The people are bound to obedience to the laws of the land. Punishments should be made according to the nature of the crime.
Crystal Rivers | Word for Now | Nov 3, 2025 Let your mind be renewed until you can test and prove God's good, acceptable, and perfect will in real time. Read Scripture like a map of “holy hyperlinks”: when you see patterns (120 in the upper room; the cloud that filled the tabernacle and temple; the smoke that fills the temple in Revelation 15), grasp the message—when God's glory (His light) fills His house, reality is revealed. That revealing is what Scripture calls “wrath”: not God lashing out, but light exposing and undoing whatever partners with death. Treat sin like cancer—small mutations that look harmless until they consume; do not negotiate with it. Refuse the world's narratives that keep the “old man” animated; walk by the light of what God says of you in Christ. Go deeper: how to live this now • Rule your inputs. Curate what you watch, read, and repeat. Your “inner light” is shaped by your daily feed. Replace doom-scroll with Word-scroll. • Daily exchange. Morning and night: (1) confess what's false, (2) declare what's true “in Christ,” (3) take one concrete action within 24 hours that agrees with truth. • Short accounts. Repent fast, forgive fast, reconcile fast. Don't sleep with accusation in your mouth or offense in your heart. • Welcome exposure. Ask trusted believers to lovingly confront blind spots. Treat reproof as mercy, not shame. • Train imagination. Meditate until you see yourself acting like Jesus in specific pressures—then go do it. • Fast strategically. Use food, media, and comfort fasts to break agreement with “old-man” reflexes. Pair every fast with extra Word and prayer. • Pray for light, not ease. Ask for illumination that makes sin impossible to hide and obedience easy to choose. • Practice generosity. Give time, honor, and money where it costs you. It starves pride and feeds love. Reading numbers as hyperlinks (so symbols serve obedience) • 12 → Governmental maturity (tribes/apostles). • 10 → Testing/completeness of order. • 100 → Fullness/fruitfulness. • 120 → Priestly fullness unto glory (echoing the trumpeting priests). • 144,000 → A picture of completeness multiplied (mature, sealed people across tribes), pointing to a people formed into Christ, not mere headcount. Use symbols to aim your life: pursue maturity, tested obedience, fruit that remains, priestly worship, and sealed allegiance. Discernment drills (5 minutes each) 1. Light Check: “What am I believing right now? Does it agree with the Word or with fear/pride?” Replace the lie with a verse and an action. 2. Speech Guard: Before replying, ask: “Will these words sow light or feed death?” If neutral or dark, wait. 3. Peace Barometer: If peace drops, trace the last agreement you made (thought, word, click). Break it; agree with truth again. 4. Mercy Reflex: When someone fails, act in the opposite spirit within one hour: bless, cover, help. 5. Hidden Yes: Do one obedient act daily that only God sees. It trains you for a glory-filled temple where flesh cannot posture. Community rhythms that make holiness feel like love • Confession before communion. Normalize brief, specific confession and prayer before worship. • Testimony of exposure → restoration. Celebrate stories where light revealed sin and produced healing. • Prophetic with process. Words that expose should come with a path to restore (scripture, steps, accountability, time frame). • Hospitality as warfare. Open tables dismantle isolation, bitterness, and secret agreements with darkness. Pitfalls to refuse • Spectator faith. Consuming teachings without practicing them calcifies the heart. • Cynicism disguised as discernment. Testing everything is biblical; scorning everything is unbelief. • End-times fear. Revelation's aim is loyalty and hope, not panic. Read for the glory outcome. • Selective obedience. Partial yes is a slow no; it keeps the “old man” on life support. A simple daily liturgy (10 minutes) 1. Present: “Lord, I present my body a living sacrifice.” 2. Renew: Read a short passage; speak one sentence of obedience you'll do today. 3. Renounce: Name any lie/accusation; replace it with truth out loud. 4. Request: “Flood my heart with light. Make exposure my friend and love my reflex.” 5. Release: Bless an enemy, a rival, or a critic by name. Lean into that future now—detox from worldliness, fast and pray, saturate your imagination with the Word, stay tender and quick to repent, forgive before you feel it, welcome loving correction, and build communities where prophetic clarity, humility, and mercy make compromise impossible. Search out what God has hidden for you (not from you): the unsearchable riches of Christ will meet you as you seek. Live like a king who searches matters out; love like a bride who reads the romance in every parable; and let your daily choices agree with the light you intend to live by. How have young people in rural areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo invented new forms of radicalism in response to the impact of new flows of foreign investment and the inability of normal national and international politics to serve their needs and interests? Zachariah Mampilly explains how rural and urban spaces have seen a complex transit of peoples and funds that complicate politics, and emergent forms of radical activism have taken root and spread in many African countries. As governments around the world expand their surveillance capabilities, strong encryption remains a cornerstone for protecting personal privacy, securing business data, and preserving digital rights. For consumers, it guards against identity theft and intrusive monitoring; for businesses, it protects intellectual property and builds trust across global markets. Yet, as governmental pressure to weaken encryption intensifies, critical questions arise: How do we preserve strong encryption standards while addressing legitimate security concerns? Can privacy, innovation, and human rights truly coexist with national security imperatives? And how do we resist the false choice between security and privacy that authoritarian regimes often present? At the Technology Policy Institute's 2025 Aspen Forum, Shane Tews moderated a panel titled Privacy and Governmental Surveillance with Jeff Greene, Jim Kohlenberger, and Jennifer Huddleston as panelists. Together, they discussed how artificial intelligence is highlighting cybersecurity and privacy concerns and raising tough questions about governmental surveillance.

How do you fully understand and explain the work of Jesus on the cross? In this episode, Alex and Scott explore the doctrine of the atonement, focusing on the concept of Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA) and contrasting it with other historical and theological views. The discussion walks through various atonement theories—including the Moral Influence, Ransom, and Christus Victor views and more—acknowledging elements of truth in each while highlighting their limitations compared to PSA. Lastly, they discuss the missiological implications, countering the claim that PSA is purely a Western, legalistic construct. Instead, they stress that guilt and innocence are universal moral realities recognized across cultures, and missionaries should faithfully present the biblical doctrine while adapting metaphors and illustrations for local understanding. Key Topics Importance of understanding the atonement for cross-cultural missions. Overview of major atonement theories: Moral Influence, Ransom, Christus Victor, Satisfaction, Governmental, and Scapegoat. Strengths and weaknesses of each theory compared to Penal Substitutionary Atonement (PSA). Scriptural foundations for PSA and its theological depth. Addressing the critiques of PSA. Practical considerations for contextualizing PSA in missionary work. Download the transcript for this episode. Pharmaceutical companies are among the most maligned companies in America. BIG PHARMA are the constant and consistent targets of lawyers, sarcastically termed “ambulance chasers.” One bad incident can result in lawsuits which may produce tens of millions of dollars in damages. But, every day, these companies produce and provide lifesaving, life-extending, life-transforming therapies to millions upon millions in the United States and, of course, around the world. I wonder how many people would die tomorrow without the drugs produced by BIG PHARMA which keep them alive. Some experts indicate that every single American citizen, old and young, has been the beneficiary of a drug, or takes one on a regular basis. I wonder, has your body been the recipient of a drug, or does it take on now sporadically or on a regular basis? Or, in a life-saving moment, have you been the very fortunate recipient of a life-saving drug produced by BIG PHARMA. Have you?No matter, the relentless assault on pharmaceutical companies goes on. Some of the criticism and cry for control by the government is justified, and most of it, NOT JUSTIFIED. There are federal agencies like the FDA, a governmental watch dog, presumably protecting the people, protecting WE THE PEOPLE, making certain that only safe and effective drugs reach the market. But, because of the vilification of BIG PHARMA, regulators at the federal level are often hesitant in granting permission for a drug to be marketed, no matter its lifesaving or life-extending capabilities. The constant delay, testing, examinations of all kinds, no matter how necessary, add significantly to the cost of the drug when you and I purchase it.In many cases, politicians do the most harm. Their incendiary rhetoric corrupts public understanding, and in some cases, stokes outright hatred. Governmental policies make it far easier for BIG PHARMA to be sued for the very slightest matter. Huge judgements occur, and the cost of the drug goes up, or even in some extreme cases, off the market entirely. When that happens, there comes the hue and cry from the public for price controls, firmer and stronger regulations against BIG PHARMA, and the relaxation of protections for pricing, and especially PATENTS, which protect the drugs against competition for any number of years. Then there arises the public climber for GENERIC DRUGS which WE THE PEOPLE believe will have the very same beneficial effects for a lower price. In the favor of BIG PHARMA, these often-incredible drugs are born out of some of the world's most INGENIOUS INNOVATION AND IMAGINATION. The minds, brilliant minds, of the scientists who make these drugs happen are rare commodities on this Earth. Months and years are devoted to research testing, trial and error, before a drug is presented to federal regulators for approval with the request for marketing to the needy patients of the world. The scientists in BIG PHARMA work for the cures of the most horrendous diseases (i.e. Alzheimer's) investing tens of millions of dollars in such research, with no guarantee that investment will be returned, much less make a profit. Politicians and lawyers are determined that they will NOT!When, my fellow Americans, was the last time you were given a drug which saved your life, extended it, or cured a condition, small or large, and without which, your life may have been ended or permanently riddled with pain? Do you take the products of BIG PHARMA, the drugs, any of them on a regular basis, to save your life, or improve the quality of that life, do you? And if you do, are you grateful, thankful, for the men and women who invested tens of thousands of hours and dollars to make that drug and make your life better? No operation of any kind can occur without drugs, none. Whether anesthesia, or some other, no operation would be safe or curative. Instead of chastising BIG PHARMA, perhaps WE THE PEOPLE, the blessed recipients of these drugs, should give thanks to them and hope and pray they continue their absolutely necessary work in research and development (R&D).Let us hope and pray BIG PHARMA continues to invest, recruit the most brilliant scientific minds, motivates the innovators to give their lives in the search for new medicines and cures for the benefit of all humankind, in America and worldwide. Imagine for one minute what America, the world, or even your life would be like if there were no drugs available. That includes the most expensive to the very simple Aspirin, drugs produced from years of costly investment on the one hand, and over the counter on the other. To be sure, on occasion, there is greed, overpricing, and some marketing unfairness which may exist. But, those circumstances are rare, infrequent, can easily be detected, and just recompense delivered. Innovation is incredibly expensive, as is real, creative research and testing, INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE! If there is not fair payment for those services or a profitable return on investment, those innovative minds which provide us, WE THE PEOPLE, with the drugs that extend, save, or improve the quality of our lives, will spend their innovative lives in other industries. Even scripture tells us that no one builds a tower (develops a new drug) without considering the cost thereof and at the bottom line, that workman (BIG PHARMA and its innovative people) is entitled to the real value, the fair and profitable wage and return, on the products produced. So, my fellow Americans, what would your life be like if you had never had the benefit of a drug produced by BIG PHARMA? Would your life be the same, or would you even have life at this point in time? Governmental controls, pricing, and regulations would do nothing but destroy innovation, drive away the very best scientists, and allow the constant assault of diseases, old and new, to rule the day. Do not let that happen. We must, somehow, find the way to thank and encourage BIG PHARMA on the one hand, and on the other, provide these drugs to those who so desperately need them. I, for one, believe OUR GREAT PHYSICIAN would so have it, our Lord Himself, even more so than the innovators He has given us.
Regardless of his recent falling out with President Trump over the size of the “Big Beautiful Bill” tax and spending package or personal beefs, Elon Musk and his “Department of Government Efficiency” team performed at least one extremely useful public service: They highlighted the extent to which the “nongovernmental organization” (NGO) sector is actually the […]
