Mavs came into the G1C with Kyrie, Luka, Klay, Lively and Naji in street clothes. Surely an easy win for the Kings right? Right? Well it was a win, albeit an ugly one. But a win is a win regardless of circumstances and the Kings need one in the worst way. Kings also get Doug Christie's first win as a head coach and hopefully this win finally gets the Kings on the right track and some much needed confidence. In the first hour of the show Jason starts with Leading Off, talked about the Kings loss to the Lakers, and Doug Christie taking over as the interim Head Coach of the Kings.
In this episode of The Royal Report I discuss the Kings looking the exact same after the firing of Mike Brown, the invisible performance from Keegan Murray, and why this starting lineup doesn't work. Sacramento Kings lose to the Los Angeles Lakers 132-122
A lot of the times when there is a coaching change mid-season, it ends up being like the picture of Alex Jones promoting his supplements where the before and after shots look exactly the same with a no real tangible difference. This is not a criticism of Doug as a coach, but the Kings look just about the same. They did look more sharp in some aspects, but it was the same story, their defense was subpar and they could not make a 3 for long stretches of the game. We'll have to see if things improve as time goes by, but the Kings are in a bad spot, and there's not many signs that things will be getting better. Every time we talk to a Seattle hooper the name David King is always mentioned when talking about the best to come out of the area. The powerful frame, Olajuwon-like footwork and incredible basketball hands is what most opponents rave about. He was key to the memorable and historic State Championship win in 1998 with Rainier Beach High School. Although his high school teammate was NBA Legend Jamal Crawford, it was David King with the post-game interview shouting that he was going to Disneyland after the victory. King will forever be loved and respected in Seattle, but we feel that he needs to be recognized in the entire basketball world. He has continued to be an important contributor to the game by both coaching high school basketball and running The CrawsOver as the director/commissioner. The Crossover is one of the most recognized Pro-Ams in the country and we get to hear all about it here. Great stories were shared about growing up in Seattle, the hoops scene in the City, a historic title run, Jamal Crawford, Douglas Wrenn-El, Doug Christie, LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, The CrawsOver, getting the Sonics back, coaching, and MUCH more!Don't sleep on this episode! David King was such an incredible guest and we are forever grateful for the experience. We had so much fun with him and we can see why he was so loved and respected by those who know him. We know you'll feel the same after hearing his story.Thank You David King!Be sure to support The CrawsOver and Rainier Beach High School basketball.Follow us on social media for news, updates and highlight reels!Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/notin.myhouse.79Instagram- @Not_in_my_house_podcastTwitter - @NOTINMYHOUSEpc
