“The Making of Kings”Mark 3:13-19Having recently completed our series “None Like Jesus” let's continue to “Behold Him” by embarking on a new study through the Gospel of Mark. Mark's Gospel is the shortest of the four Gospels and it is action-packed from start to finish – as evidenced by the word “immediately” used over 40 times. Mark wrote to believers, probably Roman believers, who were no strangers to persecution. And he wanted to disciple his readers to be strong in their faith by encouraging them to look to their Mighty Messiah, the Son of God, who remained steadfastly faithful even while becoming their Suffering Servant who died for them. Mark's Gospel is a call to all believers to fearlessly “Follow Jesus” because they can trust Him completely.

Tyler and Dr. Wegner finish up the books of Kings and the downward spiral of Kings in Israel and Judah that lead to the exile of all the people.

Dr. Wegner takes us on a small excursion to visit the Israelite concept of Afterlife, in order for us to better understand the passage in 1 Kings 1:21, "When my lord the king sleeps with his fathers".

The Kings and GM Rob Blake parted ways. The Clippers fell in Game 7 in Denver. The Dodgers took 2 of 3 in ATL and Dave Roberts answers why they didnt suicide squeeze in the 9th with Kim on 3rd base.

Most kings in the north were evil and did what was right in their own eyes, while kings in Judah followed the ways of the Lord. This was not always the case, but in this episode Dr. Wegner takes us through the good and bad kings in the divided kingdoms.

Dr. Wegner begins 1 and 2 Kings, concluding the reign of David and entering the reign of King Solomon.

The playoff picture in the Western Conference is officially set as both the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild punched their tickets to the postseason earlier in the week. With that, Jason and Frank previewed each of the four first round series that we'll get and gave their picks for each one.Before they got into the playoff talk, they quickly talked about a few teams who's 2024-25 seasons were disappointments including the Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings. They also talked about the San Jose Sharks season, which resulted in another last place finish but the guys talked about whether or not this year was actually a success.They then got into the two playoff series in the Central Division, starting with the much anticipated Stars and Avalanche matchup. The Stars are limping into the playoffs while the vibes in Colorado are immaculate with Captain Gabriel Landeskog expected to return to the lineup. Everyone seems to be picking the Avs, but are the Stars being a little overlooked?They also talked about the chances that the Winnipeg Jets make it a relatively short series against the St. Louis Blues. Can Hellebuyck find his form in the playoffs? The Frankish king, Charlemagne the Great, is one of the titanic figures of European history, simultaneously renowned and shadowy. His rise to supreme power is a staggering story of warring religious empires, betrayal, battle, blindings and brutal conquest. How, then, did this one time Frankish interloper become the father of Europe, progenitor of a Holy Roman Empire whose descendants would rule right up until the time of Napoleon, and Emperor of the West? The Pope too was increasingly embattled at that time, struggling against invasions by the ferocious Germanic Lombards from the north of Italy. Desperate, he called upon Pepin for aid. So it was that, after his brother's abdication, Pepin was officially anointed by the Pope as the sole King of the Franks, before crossing the Alps and smashing Lombardy. After his death, he would leave his kingdom the foremost power in Western Europe, and in the hands of to his own two sons: Carloman and Charles, later known as Charlemagne. It's a long way from the palace, to the pasture. Nebuchadnezzar thought he was in charge. He thought his accomplishments proved his superiority as a human being. But the Most High would prove that the king was no better than an ox, or a bird. All of "his" glory had been lent to him. Now God was calling that loan. The king who became a beast. Nebuchadnezzar didn't "lose his mind;" he threw it away. He forfeited his sanity when he refused to humble himself before God. As Paul would write to the Romans much later, "...since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind...."
