Kar 72 pesmi, napisanih v prostem verzu, obravnava bivanjsko tematiko človekove smrtnosti in osamljenosti, ki se neločljivo prepleta s poetološkimi vprašanji. Zbirka se začne z motom Williama Carlosa Williamsa: “Poleti se pesem sama poje.” Svetinove pesmi tako sledijo umirjeno in zbrano, brez nuje, a veliko resnejše in globlje kot zgolj počitniško. V prvi pesmi piše: “Avgust. Sanjam, ni noč, ni dan. Bedim. / Nagovarjam prijatelje, mrtve. Govorim jim, / predavam. Nihče ne posluša.” Motivika pokojnih prijateljev se nadaljuje v drugi pesmi, njihovo odsotnost pa potencirajo živalske podobe levjih mladičev z materjo ali črnega psa, ki kot v sanjski sekvenci priteče in skoči na posteljo ter ga uspava. Lirski subjekt izstopa iz samote z branjem modernističnih pesnikov in pisateljev, s katerimi stopa v dialog in se jim priklanja v spoštovanju. Najprej bere “eksotično literaturo, če to kaj pomeni,” natančneje Mesto in ščeneta Maria Vargasa Llose. V sedemnajsti pesmi polemizira s esejem Octavia Paza Lok in lira. Nekaj pesmi posveča Ezri Poundu, ki ga imenuje sveti Ezra kot judovskega pisarja in duhovnika, zadnjega, “ki je kraljeval ozvezdjem besed”. Svetina ga prikaže kot nežnega vrtnarja, ki zaliva rože na dvorišču bolnišnice. Naslednja, triindvajseta pesem se začne s citatom iz Poundovega Pizanskega cantosa: “Čas je zlo.” Obstaja spomin na čas, ko še ni bil zlo, to je čas med zimo in poletjem. Poleg številnih medbesedilnih navezav je motivika pesniške zbirke Avgust močno razgibana in vezana na najrazličnejše kraje in obdobja od puščavske eksotike do domačega gorskega podobja: najpogostejša je živalska motivika in motivika sonca, noči, svetlobe, hrepenenja po temi. Meditativno soočanje z lastno smrtnostjo je “budno sanjarjenje,” ki se v dvainsedemdeseti pesmi zaključi tako: “Zadnji dan avgusta. /…/ Končno sam. Avgust je mesec, ki je še živ od poletja, sonce – eden izmed pomembnejših motivov zbirke – je visoko v zenitu, a že čutimo neizogiben prihod jeseni, za katero pride smrt. Čas je človeku nekaj nedosegljivega, nekaj, kar ga presega in kar deluje proti njemu: “Čas ni moj zaveznik, visoko zgoraj je, / kjer ni več kisika.” Pesniška zbirka Avgust vsebuje ciklično pojmovanje časa, v katerega pa slehernik ni vključen: on je minljiv in bremeni ga zavest o lastni smrtnosti. “Kar je bilo, bo znova; česar ni bilo, se bo kmalu zgodilo, a mene ne bo,” piše. Zdaj, ko je blizu koncu življenja, se mu zdi, da o tem, o čemer je že pisal, piše od konca proti začetku in smrt je rojstvo: “Gorijo rokopisi, v katerih sem popisal življenje / svoje družine, vesolja, konca, ki ga ni, / saj se vse konča z začetkom.” Pesništvo pa je v posebnem odnosu do časa: pesnik se kot urar sklanja nad besedilo in pesem ima svoj ritem, ki je “natančna metrika,” besede kot v ritualu dobivajo nove pomene in presegajo čas. Kot nasprotji sta postavljeni človekov čas, ki se izteka v peščeni uri, in pesništvo, ki se vzpenja v območje nad časom. Prek zavedanja lastne minljivosti in odnosa do resnice, ki je ženska, Svetina odpira poetološka vprašanja. Njegov vsakdan ni vreden pesmi, saj je tak, da bi “lahko pripadal bogovom, a bil je dovoljen ljudem.” Zbirka upesnjuje vse dvome, ki jih ima pesnik v zavedanju, da ga bo čas kmalu izdal. Lirski subjekt dvomi o zmožnosti poezije, da z njo lahko preseže lastno minljivost, pa tudi o tem, ali je sploh povedal kaj vrednega, nekaj, kar bi imelo vrednost tudi za druge. Očita si, da je kot krt ril za črvom – pesmijo – in pri tem zapostavil tiste, ki so ga imeli radi, ter jih prosi, naj mu odpustijo. Zdi se, da gre za dvojno bolečino: ni izkoristil časa, ki ga je imel z ljubljenimi, hkrati pa tudi v pesništvu ni našel svoje življenjske osmislitve: “Ozrem se in nad seboj zagledam goro, nemo, donebno. / Nikoli se nisem povzpel nanjo, nikoli, tudi takrat, ko še / nisem bil krt.” Lirski subjekt je pesmi pisal v samoti, “v tišini sem sestavljal besede, da bi naredil zatočišče za srce.” Izbira medbesedilnih navezav odseva pesnikov odnos do poetoloških vprašanj in življenjske filozofije; poetika pesniške zbirke je pogosto melanholična kot Pazova, vseskozi iskrena kot Poundova, skoznjo slišimo krike Nietzschejeve volje do življenja in eksistencialnih premišljevanj Dostojevskega. Avgust je pomensko gosta in medbesedilno bogata pesniška zbirka, ki v poletni atmosferi počitnikovanja zre v oči najglobljim človekovim vprašanjem o njegovem bistvu in pomenu pesništva. V recenziji nam je uspelo našteti le najpomembnejše motive in teme, a jih bo bralec našel še mnogo več Zbirka je brezhiben spoj jezika in meditativnih, pogosto sanjskih premišljevanj, ki suvereno pravi: to je Poezija.

Pomníky jsou nejviditelnější součástí paměťové politikyAčkoli jsme si dělali legraci z Američanů, když po smrti George Floyda začali – jako přežité symboly bělošské nadřazenosti – odstraňovat pomníky, které ve Spojených státech vyjadřovaly hold historickým osobnostem spojeným s otrokářstvím, ukazuje se, že s pomníky máme my sami podobné problémy. Emoce vzbudilo jak odstraňování pomníku sovětského maršála Koněva v Dejvicích, tak plány na restaurování pomníku maršála Radeckého na Malostranském náměstí. Ovšem nejvíce emocí vyvolal instalace nepříliš vydařené kopie Mariánského sloupu na Staroměstském náměstí.Mariánský sloup je názornou ukázkou toho, jak se proměňují významy historických artefaktů. S nějakou fakticitou, jak se mnozí chybně domnívají, to nemá nic společného. Mariánský sloup byl 1650 vztyčen jako hold srdnaté obraně Pražanů proti švédskému obléhání v závěru Třicetileté války. S triumfem Habsburků na Bílé Hoře nebo útlakem Čechů to nemělo co dělat. Po čtvrt tisíciletí nebyl Mariánský sloup z hlediska české společnosti nijak kontroverzní. Odpor vůči němu nastal až v pozdním 19. století, když v rámci českého národního hnutí převážil nekatolický narativ českých dějin, prosazovaný Palackým, Masarykem a Jiráskem, nad narativem katolickým. Samozřejmě to souvisí i s prosazováním etno-nacionalismu mezi českými Čechy i Němci na úkor zemského vlastenectví, typického pro předchozí staletí. Po vzniku samostatného Československa byl sloup jako symbol monarchie za přihlížení davu stržen skupinou žižkovských hasičů, kterým pražský bohém Franta Sauer namluvil, že odstranění památky požaduje Národní výbor československý.Bez ohledu na původní význam se Mariánský sloup stal symbolem násilné rekatolizace a vítězství jedné, navíc v Čechách silně menšinové, konfesní skupiny nad druhou. Katolická církev – tedy především tehdejší arcibiskup pražský Dominik Duka – prosadila ve vysoce sekulární zemi na jednom z nejdůležitějších národních míst výrazný a velmi kontroverzní katolický symbol. Na Staroměstském náměstí tak vznikl zajímavý a symbolický mix: katolický Mariánský sloup, vedle monumentální pomník Mistra Jana Husa z roku 1915, kalich na Týnském chrámu a deska 27 českých pánů popravených v roce 1621 na Staroměstské radnici.Tato názorně kombinace ukazuje, jaký máme v chápání své vlastní historie – a tedy i národní identity – zmatek.

Alors que le Mali, le Burkina Faso et le Ghana renforcent leur contrôle sur leur secteur aurifère, les compagnies minières internationales réorientent leurs investissements vers des pays jugés plus prévisibles. La Côte d'Ivoire, la Guinée, mais aussi la Mauritanie et le Sénégal espèrent profiter de cette redistribution. La ruée vers l'or se poursuit en Afrique de l'Ouest. Les États multiplient les efforts pour attirer les investissements dans l'exploration et l'exploitation aurifères. Dans ce contexte, la Côte d'Ivoire et la Guinée apparaissent aujourd'hui comme les destinations les plus attractives pour les groupes miniers, profitant notamment des hésitations des investisseurs à développer de nouveaux projets au Mali, au Burkina Faso ou au Ghana. En Côte d'Ivoire, le gigantesque projet Koné entrera en production avant la fin de l'année, avec plusieurs mois d'avance sur le calendrier initial. Située près de la frontière malienne, cette future mine continue de gagner en importance : ses ressources sont désormais estimées à plus de 6,3 millions d'onces d'or. Nous avons acheté un deuxième projet, celui d'African Gold à Didievi. C'est un projet très prometteur. Cela montre notre volonté de continuer à accroître notre présence en Côte d'Ivoire grâce au potentiel géologique et à la stabilité économique du pays », explique Martino De Ciccio, PDG de Montage Gold. Des investisseurs en quête de stabilité La Côte d'Ivoire et la Guinée profitent d'un contexte régional marqué par la prudence des grands groupes miniers. Au Mali, au Burkina Faso et au Ghana, les gouvernements ont engagé une reprise en main de leur secteur aurifère, en renforçant le contrôle public et en augmentant la part des revenus captée par l'État. Le pays met en avant un important potentiel géologique et un cadre réglementaire jugé rassurant. « La Mauritanie dispose d'un bon potentiel parce qu'elle possède encore de vastes zones qui n'ont pas été explorées. Beaucoup de sociétés vont aujourd'hui en Côte d'Ivoire, mais aussi en Mauritanie. Nous avons de nombreux permis qui viennent d'être libérés. Notre force, c'est bien sûr la géologie, mais aussi le cadre légal et réglementaire. Les conditions sont très claires, les accords sont respectés et les investisseurs bénéficient d'une véritable visibilité sur leurs projets miniers », souligne Ahmed Taleb Mohamed, conseiller au ministère mauritanien des Mines. Le Sénégal souhaite lui aussi développer davantage son industrie aurifère. Trois mines industrielles sont déjà en activité dans la région de Kédougou, exploitées notamment par Endeavour Mining et Resolute Mining. Mais les audits lancés par le nouveau gouvernement sur plusieurs contrats miniers suscitent des interrogations chez certains investisseurs. « Les investisseurs aiment la stabilité. Si à chaque changement de gouvernement certaines conventions ou certains contrats sont remis en question, cela peut poser un problème pour les futurs investisseurs. Un projet minier repose sur un modèle économique construit sur plusieurs années. Les investisseurs ont besoin de stabilité. Je pense que les autorités l'ont compris et que c'est ce qui permettra d'attirer d'autres investisseurs. Car le potentiel est là, il est énorme », estime Ousmane Mbaye, président de la Chambre des mines du Sénégal. En 2025, le secteur minier représentait environ 4 % du PIB sénégalais et 31 % des exportations du pays. Mi-juin, Abidjan a accueilli un hackathon organisé par CFI autour de la fracture numérique. Douze participants, des aînés et de jeunes talents du numérique, ont planché sur cette question : "Comment créer des ponts numériques pour renforcer la cohésion sociale en Côte d'Ivoire ?" Pour L'atelier des médias, Raphaëlle Constant a suivi cet événement. Pendant trois jours, du 16 au 18 juin 2026, l'Orange Digital Center d'Abidjan s'est transformé en un laboratoire de créativité intergénérationnelle. À l'initiative de CFI et piloté par Istorias Media, le hackathon du projet Kouman (parler, en langues bambara et nouchi) a réuni des équipes mixtes composées d'aînés, de créateurs de contenu et d'étudiants. L'objectif était de s'attaquer à la fracture numérique qui isole les générations dans des espaces d'information étanches, créant un terrain fertile pour la désinformation. Comme l'explique Naira Davlashyan, cofondatrice d'Istorias Media, l'enjeu est de permettre aux aînés de mieux s'informer tout en redonnant une place aux jeunes dans la transmission : il faut « trouver des vrais prototypes, des outils pour résoudre le problème de la fracture numérique entre les générations ». « Il faut en parler, il faut trouver des solutions [...] parce qu'il ne faut pas avoir peur du numérique, il faut travailler avec. » Le « design thinking » pour briser les tabous Pour stimuler l'innovation, les participants ont utilisé la méthode du design thinking, plaçant l'humain au centre de la création. Après des « entretiens empathiques » visant à comprendre les usages de chacun, les équipes ont imaginé des prototypes concrets. L'équipe 1 a ainsi développé « Confessionnal », un chatbot destiné à faciliter le dialogue sur des sujets sensibles comme la sexualité ou les violences domestiques. Pour Adama Diomandé, aîné de l'équipe, cet outil est une réponse aux tabous culturels : « C'est un outil qui va révolutionner le lien entre parents et enfants. » De son côté, l'équipe 3 a proposé une solution utilisant l'intelligence artificielle pour aider les citoyens à identifier les contenus trompeurs et les discours de haine. « Kouman Play » : recréer le village virtuel Le grand prix a été décerné au projet « Kouman Play » de l'équipe Yankady, une application ludique de transmission des valeurs traditionnelles. Le jeu propose des défis basés sur les proverbes et les contes des plus de 60 ethnies de Côte d'Ivoire, forçant parfois le jeune joueur à consulter un aîné pour progresser. Irchad Razaaly, ambassadeur de l'Union européenne en Côte d'Ivoire, a salué une solution qui « permet de recréer virtuellement [un] village, recréer des liens entre des enfants et des parents ou des grands-parents qui ne se voient pas nécessairement. » Il a ajouté : « Cette application peut aussi aider beaucoup d'enfants de la diaspora qui ne vivent pas dans un milieu qui est naturellement celui qui peut transmettre la culture, la langue, les valeurs. » Pour le jury, la force du projet réside dans son approche pédagogique. Léonce Koné, manager de l'Orange Digital Academy, y voit une opportunité de moderniser la tradition : « Ils n'ont plus le temps de s'asseoir autour d'un feu, mais ils sont en permanence sur leur téléphone. Dale Earnhardt Jr. sits down with one of the most promising rising stars in the NBA, Charlotte Hornets small forward Kon Knueppel. Kon lit the professional basketball scene on fire this year as he became the first rookie in NBA history to lead the league in three-point shooting, shattering several records along the way. After growing up in a basketball family in the Milwaukee area, Kon was recruited by Duke, where he helped lead the team to Atlantic Coast dominance. He would declare for the NBA draft and would be picked fourth overall by the Hornets, helping to turn their performance around for the 2025/26 season. Kon would ultimately lose a highly contested Rookie of the Year battle with fellow Blue Devil Cooper Flagg by one of the narrowest margins in league history. Funnily enough, despite having two basketball legends for parents, Kon didn't show much interest in the sport until he got his hands on video game classics like NBA2K and NBA Jam. Kon became interested in the legends of the past and learned to love the game through its history. By high school, he was one of the most promising collegiate prospects in the country, and he fielded offers from many major Division One schools. Dale and Kon's conversation covers the Hornets successful comeback season, the changing culture of the team and his journey from a close-knit, basketball crazy family to being a perimeter shooting phenom.
