Episode 300 of “The Sports Experience Podcast” is here & it's a celebration! In this very special episode we discuss the greatest linebacker and possibly the greatest defensive player in the history of the NFL: Lawrence Taylor!Though he did not play organized football until his junior year in high school and did not play at a predominantly football-centric university, Lawrence Taylor was an absolute terror as a pass-rushing outside linebacker.Taken second overall in the 1981 NFL Draft, Taylor was an absolute terror during his NFL career. Over the course of his first six seasons, he won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 1981, won Defensive Player of the Year three times, won NFL MVP in 1986 and helped the New York Giants win Super Bowl XXI!Taylor changed how offenses play elite outside linebackers, and was a nearly unstoppable force. Sadly, his appetite for legal and illegal substances became national news during the rest of his career and after it ended in 1993.Nevertheless, L.T. recorded 142.0 career sacks, 56 forced fumbles, earned 10 Pro Bowls nods and won two Super Bowls and changed how the linebacker position was played.Join us while we discuss an NFL legend and controversial figure.Watch, Subscribe & Comment on All Platforms:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast/the-sports-experience-podcast-with-chris-quinn/id1529622054Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1esgBLz04MZYrTgYMk5DvaConnect with us on Instagram!Chris Quinn: https://www.instagram.com/cquinncomedy/Dominic DiTolla: https://www.instagram.com/ditolladominic/Ty Engle:https://www.instagram.com/ty_englestudio/S.E.P.: https://www.instagram.com/thesportsexperiencepodcast/If you enjoy our podcast, please help support us:https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-sports-experience-pod/support#sportspodcast#comedypodcast#lawrencetaylor#newyorkgiants#nfl#footballplayer#football

Ed, Rob, and Jeremy took some time from the third hour of Friday's BBMS to discuss the future of Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton. PFF named Hamilton the best safety in the league, but will he able to parlay that ranking into a Defensive Player of the Year award?
The guys discuss the high expectations for Kyle Hamilton heading into year four and why we could see him win a defensive player of the year award.
Terrell Suggs, affectionately known as “T-Sizzle,” is a legendary NFL linebacker, Super Bowl champion, and Defensive Player of the Year whose relentless play and leadership have defined a generation of Baltimore Ravens football. Growing up in the competitive football environment of Minnesota before starring at Arizona State, Suggs translated his early drive into a pro career marked by grit, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field. Now retired, Suggs devotes himself to fatherhood, taking as much pride in supporting his children as he did anchoring one of the NFL’s most feared defenses. Takeaways: Fatherhood Comes First: Despite his on-field achievements, Terrell emphasizes that his true “because” is his children, striving to be an even better dad than he was a football player. Leadership Is Learned and Passed On: Suggs credits mentors like Ray Lewis and Ed Reed for shaping his leadership style, highlighting the importance of learning from and supporting your team. Resilience and Self-Reflection: Success, whether on the field or in life, requires self-checking, owning one’s actions, and playing chess—always thinking a few moves ahead. Sound Bites: "We're not just professional athletes—we're fathers first." "A leader would never ask someone to do what he wouldn't do himself." "If you want an autograph, get theirs—I'm just Dad now." Quote by Mick: "If Suggs lined up beside you, you were getting it all. If he was in the huddle, no questions asked, you getting everything." 0:00 .... Ross hello and welcome, introduces the panel, and dedicates show #158 to Jack McVeigh of the Houston Rockets who is the only NBA player to wear uniform #58. 1:33 ... Instant reaction to Tuesday night's game #4 of the Knicks/Pacers Eastern Conference Finals playoff series. 2:45 ... Bruce highlights the performances of Tyrese Haliburton, Bennedict Mathurin, and Pascal Siakam who were the biggest reasons Indiana took game #4 and grabbed a 3-1 series lead. 3:53 ... Ross pointed out how it was a game of runs but Indiana never allowed New York to really get close enough to threaten the Pacers. 4:55 ... World B was disgusted with the sloppy play of the Knicks and feels they need to reduce turnovers in game 5 if they hope to extend the series. He is also concerned about the health of Karl-Anthony Towns who hurt his knee in the 4th quarter on Tuesday night. 7:23 ... The crew previews game 5 in New York and discusses if Tom Thibodeau will dial back his rotation as he did in the first two games. 10:17 ... Ross is concerned about how Towns will be perceived by the NY fans if he doesn't play in game 5 due to his knee. Bruce needs Mikal Bridges to show up big in game #5, but World B points out how hard Bridges has to work on defense against Haliburton. 14:38 ... Ross tees up a brief discussion on how Thibodeau expanded his rotation and how Josh Hart nudged him into doing it by offering to come off the bench and allow Mitchell Robinson to start games 3 and 4. 16:00 ... Western Conference Finals discussion as Oklahoma City won Monday's game #4 to put a stranglehold on their series against Minnesota. Bruce felt the tone was set in the first quarter. World B says the series is over now that OKC has a 3-1 series lead and it was impressive how they bounced back from a 42 point loss on Saturday. Ross agrees and praises Jalen Williams of the Thunder for his great performances. Everyone feels the series is over except for the final result. OKC's defense is the decisive factor. 23:25 ... Anthony Edwards needs a great performance in game 5 after scoring just 13 points in game 4. World B feels he is not holding himself accountable. 24:18 ... Ross wants to praise Minnesota's Nickiell Alexander-Walker whose great postseason performances will help him find a team willing to pay him big bucks as a free agent this off-season. 24:50 .... Shai Gilgeous-Alexander beat Nikola Jokic for the MVP Award ... the guys discuss the large margin of victory in the voting and how both players were most deserving of the award. 28:13 ... All-NBA Team discussions ... On the first team the only quibble was Donovan Mitchell making it over Anthony Edwards, Jalen Brunson, and Stephen Curry. 30:33 .... On the second team, the guys discussed LeBron James making it in spite of ESPN's Brian Windhorst not voting him on any of the three All-NBA teams. 33:36 ... On the third team, Bruce bemoaned the fact that Jaylen Brown fell two games short of the 65 game minimum to qualify for All-NBA. Bruce felt he would have made the third team, but sacrificed an individual award in order to be healthier for the playoffs and Bruce is really annoyed at some Celtics fans who are blaming Brown for the team's earlier than expected postseason exit. World B felt Tyler Herro should have made third team over James Harden. Ross pointed out that if not for injury, Victor Wembanyama would also have probably made 2nd or 3rd team All-NBA and probably also won Defensive Player of the Year. 37:08 ... Smokin' Hot Take from World B ... Cade Cunningham will be first team All-NBA next season. This bodes well for the Pistons ascending into the top 4 in the eastern conference next season. 40:10 ... Final Thoughts ... Bruce on how OKC's comeback from a 42 point loss to Minnesota last weekend reminds him of two former NBA Championship teams that had similar experiences 40 seasons ago: the 1984 Celtics and the 1985 Lakers. 41:30 .... World B on how the Knicks loss to Indiana in game one was not the biggest choke in the Knicks history. It was 30 years ago when Reggie Miller made the Knicks the worst chokers in franchise history. Tyrese Haliburton will clearly haunt World B's dreams for many years to come. 46:16 ... Ross on how all the off-season transactions will be very exciting this year. And from that he says goodbye and "see you next week." TRT 46:57

In an offseason where the Magic don't have the ability to pay much for free agents, we have to trade our way to improvement. I can't think of a bigger potentially available target than Giannis Antetokounmpo. NBA champion, multi-time MVP, he's won Defensive Player of the Year. He's been the face of the NBA for the past few years, whether American media recognizes that or not. He's again an MVP finalist this season. He'll be 31 years old in December. Still his prime. I want Gianni to be a one NBA team player. Gianni wants to stay a Buck. But he also wants to win more NBA championships. Milwaukee can't offer that now. There's no Jrue Holiday deal to be made. They're capped out and out of assets to trade. They have no picks to send out. So if Gianni wants another NBA title in the next few years, he's going to have to orchestrate a trade somewhere. And I don't know of a better destination for him than Orlando. All of that and more! #LetsGoMagic Warning: Adult Language

It's time to talk about the most inscrutable topic in the NBA: Defense! We pick our All-Defensive teams and Defensive Player of the Year. Are we swayed by Draymond's self-promotional tour? Is another familiar name being slept on? Where do the big perimeter defensive stars rank relative to the bigs?We also pick our positional all-defensive teams, discuss whether the 65-game rule changed our picks, and then pick a few categories like best isolation and post defenders, best rim protector, and which players do the most with the least and the least with the most. Finally, we select our Worst-Team All Defense.First though, we discuss the shocking news that Michael Malone and Calvin Booth have both been relieved of their duties.
