Asst. Pastor Melvin Gaines Romans 6:1-11
Why do Christians still struggle with sin even after salvation? In this message, we dive into what the Bible calls the “Jesus Gap”—the process between being saved and fully walking in the power of Christ. Looking at scriptures like Galatians 2:20, Romans 7, Luke 2:40-52, Philippians 2, and Romans 8, we see that even Paul wrestled with sin and growth takes time. Jesus Himself matured in wisdom and favor before beginning His ministry at age 30. You'll learn how to close this gap in your own life through dying to self, receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and walking daily in Christ's power. This teaching will give you hope, encouragement, and practical steps for overcoming sin and living as a new creation.
We must die in order to live
The main passage of this sermon is Galatians 2:15-20, where Paul expresses his loyalty to his Savior, and we learn how devoted we need to be to our Savior once we realize everything He has done for us.
Are you dealing with condemnation? Do you feel like you are a failure in dealing with your "flesh?" Join Pastor Bill as he takes us on a journey in the Word of God in how through our identity in Christ, we are a new creature. We have no condemnation!
When we look at the cross, it should remind us of the sacrifice of Christ for us. BUT we often forget to remember that through our faith in Christ, God saw our old sinful nature on that cross with Christ. In this message, we look at what it looks like to be crucified with Christ from God's perspective.
When we come to faith in Jesus and are united to the crucified, risen Savior, our old life is left on the other side of the cross. Grace To You - Galatians | Crucified With Christ | Pastor Chris Heller Galatians 2:20-3:14 This Sunday, we will continue our summer series in Galatians with one of the most memorable verses in all of scripture. Paul announces to the Galatians that he has been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer he who lives, but Christ who lives in him! What does this mean? What is Paul trying to convey? What is he hoping they gain perspective in? We will grow in the grace of “who we are in Christ” this Sunday with these questions, and many more!
Season 4, Episode 6 | Chad and Marshall reflect on Galatians 2:15–21, emphasizing that justification before God comes through faith in Christ, not by works. They unpack the meaning of being “crucified with Christ” and warn against using religious practices to elevate oneself or earn God's favor.
What it truly means to embrace the crucified life
In this episode of Our Community, Our Mission, we explore what true transformation looks like through the powerful story of Edward Tucker. Once trapped in 30-years of drug addiction—even while pastoring—Edward longed for freedom but couldn't break free on his own. Everything changed with a quiet nudge from God on a city bus: “Go to the mission.” That simple act of obedience marked the beginning of a new life. Today, Edward works at the Men's Side Front Desk, serves in chapel, and offers honest, compassionate support to men walking the same road he once did.Edward's authenticity makes his ministry uniquely impactful—he doesn't just speak about recovery; he's lived it. TRM CEO La Manda Cunningham highlights his ability to see past addiction and connect with the person behind the pain. His favorite verse, Galatians 2:20, captures his new identity: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." This episode is a powerful reminder that no one is beyond redemption—and that surrender is the first step toward true freedom. To learn more about TRM, Click Here!To support TRM, Click Here! "The grace of God is not a license to sin, but a license to live." These powerful words from Pastor Taylor Guerin frame a transformative exploration of Romans 6, where we confront one of Christianity's most challenging paradoxes: If God's grace always rises above our sin, shouldn't more sin simply produce more grace?Drawing from Paul's emphatic response, Pastor Taylor guides us through the radical transformation that occurs when we come to Christ. Using the powerful imagery of baptism, he illustrates how believers experience both a "spiritual obituary" and a "spiritual birth certificate" - the old self dies, and a completely new creation emerges. This sermon doesn't shy away from difficult questions. While no believer would openly suggest sinning more to receive more grace, our actions often betray this very mindset when we willfully disobey with the assumption of forgiveness. Through personal stories and biblical insights, Pastor Taylor challenges us to examine where we might still be clinging to our "old address" instead of embracing the freedom of our new life.Whether you're struggling with persistent sin, wondering about the purpose of baptism, or seeking to understand the relationship between God's grace and our daily choices, this message offers practical guidance for your spiritual journey. You'll discover why motivation matters in overcoming sin, how the Holy Spirit empowers transformation, and what it truly means to be "dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus."For believers feeling defeated by recurring sin patterns and those who haven't yet experienced new life in Christ, this message offers both challenge and hope. God's grace doesn't just cover our sin—it transforms our very relationship with it.

In this 300th episode of Exegetically Speaking, we hear once again from Dr. Michael Bird. This time he is highlighting how the knowledge of Greek enables us to understand alternative interpretations of a critical Pauline passage. What do Paul's uses of the perfect tense and genitive case convey in speaking of participation in Christ's crucifixion and the life of faith? Prof. Bird is Deputy Principal and Lecturer in New Testament at Ridley College (Melbourne, Australia). His many publications include Romans: Greek-English Interlinear | Paraphrase | Study Notes, Jesus among the gods: Early Christology in the Greco-Roman World, and (with N. T. Wright) Jesus and the Powers: Christian Political Witness in an Age of Totalitarian Terror and Dysfunctional Democracies. Some stories are too heavy to carry alone. This is one of them. In this Good Friday message, Pastor Frank walks us through four acts of the crucifixion—through the eyes of Scripture, the sound of nails being driven, and the haunting beauty of grace that doesn't make sense. Jesus didn't just die for us—He died instead of us. And somehow, mysteriously, we died with Him. The pain, the shame, the secret things we carry—they're not ignored. They're nailed to the cross, burned away, and buried with Christ. This isn't about guilt. It's about surrender. It's about walking away from the cross knowing: the debt is paid, the record is canceled, and the only thing left is the nail... and the grace.
In his letters to believers in Gallatia and Rome, Paul taught that our "old self" was crucified with Christ. And yet, he also acknowledged that we all still struggle against our selfish human nature. If we are set free from this, how do we then live in this freedom?
In part two of his series on Romans 6:1–14, David Forsyth unpacks what it means to be united with Christ. This union is the foundation for breaking sin's grip, as believers have been crucified, buried, and raised with Christ. Because they are united with Christ, they now walk in newness of life. Forsyth emphasizes that this union is real, transformative, and central to the Christian identity and sanctification. ★ Support this podcast ★

Today on Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we're discussing Kanye West's latest internet meltdown and what it reveals about the state of our unfortunate over-sexualized and depraved culture. From celebrity chaos to societal decay, it's clear—without God, the world spirals into total confusion and sin. We're breaking down the bigger picture and talking about why it's time to turn away from worldliness/wickedness and the dysfunction of degeneracy and back to the truth and love of Christ. When we become followers of Jesus, our old selves are placed upon the cross and crucified. And just as Christ was resurrected from the grave, He is resurrected in our hearts so that we can live the life that He intends us to live through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is season 4. In this episode, Mike Charleston is joined with his wife Sarah, and Chuck Tate. In this episode they start off talking about a story that happened at an event they were at years ago. A volleyball game where two generations disagreed on the rules. In fact, the rules did change, and the older crowd did not know it. They compare that with the Old and New Testaments. Some are still trying to fit some "old laws" for today. They also do an overview of the book of Malachi in their new segment "How well do you know the Bible". Also, Sarah's song of the week. Chuck has a missionary story.
