In this episode of Trekking Through Time and Space... Hoai-Tran and Jacob learn that "Friday's Child" is loving and giving and full of western-style space conflict on Star Trek. Over on Torchwood, they learn the first rule of sci-fi Fight Club is to not talk about sci-fi Fight Club as they engage in some "Combat." Going where no man has gone before, the long way round. Kirk & co. try to negotiate the rights to mining (AGAIN) against a shifty Klingon on a planet of a cappella fans. Or something. One of us may or may not have nodded off during this one. Nerds Log, Stardate 022020.18: We watch as Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and a red-shirted sacrifice petition the Capellians, of whom the Federation wants mining rights, to work with them, instead of the kingons who are also there to try and obtain the same rights. There is exile, murder, a society with many strange taboos, and we get to see McCoy strike a pregnant woman to earn her respect!

This week marks the halfway point on the Warped journey through the Original Series of Star Trek! To mark the occasion, we are joined by infamous romance novelist E.H. Victorville... or maybe it's just Erin in disguise. We really play to our local audience with Airport Talk and completely blow another opportunity for a booze sponsorship. We all take a lesson from Bones, who gives the crew a rundown on what not to do in the workplace when encountering pregnant people. Shawn and Philippe prove definitively that they were the worst in high school by quoting Nietzsche. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

This week Brooke and Barron discuss the classic Star Trek episodes Journey to Babel and Friday's Child. Listen as we drink beer and whisky and talk about how awesome Jeffrey Combs is! Once again we have trouble staying on the subject and we don't think we'll ever get better at that. We hope you enjoy listening as much as we enjoy talking!

Standard Orbit 154: By Any Other Name What is in a name? What is in a title? Zach and Ken explore the more interesting episode titles of the original series and "try" to correlate the names to the plots of the episodes. In some cases; they're an easy match. In other cases; there isn't a direct link as to what the episode was about. In a very humbling moment for Ken--confusion on a title and actual episode becomes apparent. No editing here-Ken owns his error and makes for some good fun at his own expense. Zach and Ken explore all the more interesting titles and ask for your input as to what some of these titles mean to you and how you have been interpreting them. Ken and Zach put out a host of theories and reveal the history of some of these lines from great literature. Hosts Ken Tripp and Zach Moore Features Welcome to Standard Orbit! When fans think of Klingon episodes on TOS, they think of “Errand of Mercy,” “Day of the Dove,” and “The Trouble with Tribbles.” The second appearance of the classic villains was made in what is really a Bones story—they just happen to be there. “Friday's Child” gets overlooked by fans, yet it builds upon the Organian Peace Treaty and allows Dr. McCoy to step into the spotlight all at the same time. In this episode of The Ready Room, we’re joined by Larry Nemecek, Charlynn Schmiedt, and Zachary Fruhling to discuss the other Vasquez Rocks show, those dastardly Klingons, wearing carpet in the desert, how Dorothy Fontana handles the symmetry between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, and whether or not “Friday’s Child” is the most undervalued TOS episode. In our news segment, we discuss the recent Beverly Crusher Day and upcoming Deanna Troi Day, more from the Star Trek Beyond Dubai set and its alien faces, and we discuss the StarTrek.com poll that asked which series has the saddest episodes. Despite January usually being a lean time for news of things Who, this week was chock full of factoids and quasi-related marginalia for the Three Who Rule to ponder and prognosticate upon. Of course all seriousness went out the window with a commentary on "Night Terrors," which such weighty matters discussed as watching Battlestar Galactica (the old one) and Star Wars (the old, good one) on French television, lack of consistency in doll house detailing, and of course the...nutritional habits of a young man/alien named George. Truly riveting listening. Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
