Today's promise: Psalm 30:5 As a follower of Christ, you live in the favor of God. God's favor is His supernatural blessing and kindness toward you. The New Testament version of favor is “grace.” God pours out His favor on all His children. His favor provides for your every need. Every blessing of God is evidence of His favor. You can't earn His favor; it is a gift of grace. One of the most amazing aspects of God's favor is found right in the middle of today's verse. God's favor lasts a lifetime.

Isaiah 61:1-3 (New King James)The Good News of Salvation61 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,Because the Lord has anointed MeTo preach good tidings to the poor;He has sent Me to [a]heal the brokenhearted,To proclaim liberty to the captives,And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,And the day of vengeance of our God;To comfort all who mourn,3 To [b]console those who mourn in Zion,To give them beauty for ashes,The oil of joy for mourning,The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness,The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
Pastor Anthony Sellers - God's Favor Sets Us Apart by AwakeningLife Church
The Lord wants us to live in a deep, intimate, and obedient relationship with Him rather than in conformity to the world around us. This means that sometimes people who are living in sin will not want to be in our company because we make them feel uncomfortable. This is inevitable because like Noah we are walking in light while those in the world are walking in darkness and want to avoid the light that exposes their sinful deeds.
Finding God's Favor 19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land; God's Favorite? 11 For God does not show favoritism. 34 Then Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism God shows no favoritism or partiality 3 Now Israel loved…
What makes Noah unique is that in the midst of a wicked, evil society, he alone “found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” This is the kind of affirmation from God that we should all desire and pursue in order to honor and please Him.

Stu's sister Karen sits down with Dr. Ashley Null, scholar and Olympic chaplain, to discuss his new book, "Performance Identity: The Folly of Striving to Earn God's Favor."
According to Genesis 6, the ancient world was so filled with wickedness and evil that God was grieved He had made mankind. Therefore, He decided to destroy every living creature on earth. However, in the midst of all the corruption, Noah “found favor in the eyes of the Lord” and was rescued from the destruction of the flood (v. 8). Our world today is also filled with sin and corruption and as Christians, we are called to walk as Noah did—in the favor of God.

Did you know that in the story of the ten minas, the reward for stewarding money well is getting more responsibility? In this podcast, I teach on the principles of how the favor of God works as exemplified in Luke 19. If the Lord gives you $500 more than you need, but then you figure out how to cause the money you were given to make money—if you can create an ecosystem—the Lord says you should be over cities. The men in Luke 19 are responsible for, let’s say, $500, but his next promotion is 10 cities! My point is, oftentimes the Lord gives us a reward and we think that we’re overwhelmed. Often the challenge is, we complain about the reward, not realizing that the responsibility is the reward. We have the privilege of being responsible for feeding more people, having the responsibility for more cities, etc. The reason I think that this is really profound right now is that I feel the Lord saying, we need to be the ones to give people something to eat like the story of feeding the 5,000. Many look at the world and are asking the Lord to take care of all of the issues and problems and wanting Him to get rid of them. But I feel like the Lord is saying, “You give them something to eat.” I believe that in darkness, it is our time to rise. The reality is, we’re about to do the great exchange—beauty for ashes, joy for mourning. As we are rising, we are going to get a reward, and that reward is more responsibility. And if we aren’t careful we will cross the street thinking we don’t have what it takes. But the Lord wants to co-labor with us. Scripture: Luke 19:11-26, Luke 9:1-17, Matthew 25:14-31, Exodus 18, Numbers 11:1-25, Isaiah 61:2-4, 1 Corinthians 3:9

Lord, you were favorable to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the iniquity of your people; you pardoned all their sin. Selah You withdrew all your wrath; you turned from your hot anger. Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us. Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations? Will you not revive us again, so that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O Lord, and grant us your salvation. Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts. Surely his salvation is at hand for those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. Steadfast love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will kiss each other. Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky. The Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him, and will make a path for his steps. Psalms 85:1-13 NRSV

Sermon from Sunday, February 7, 2021. Enigma (Part 5). Luke 16:1-13. Pastor Bryant Anderson preaching. In what is generally regarded as Jesus’ most difficult parable, Jesus seems to be praising the cunning and dishonesty of a manager who defrauds his master to save his own skin. Somewhere in this unsavory behavior is a lesson for Christian discipleship, but it certainly doesn’t jump off the page.

Tonight the boys start off realizing that in Chapter 3, the Lord blessed Solomon even though he was not living according to the laws of Deuteronomy (by making a sacrifice in an non-ordained location). What do we do with this? We compared it to the fact that God blessed David even though had committed terrible sins. Ultimately, we can be blessed when we trust what God says, and believe that he loves his children and wants good things for them. This doesn't mean correction is not a response to a believer in a sinful lifestyle, but that both our salvation and blessing is based on what He has done for us. In Chapter 4, we see the undeserved favor of God on Solomon and on the Israelites. God knew, the rebellious future that lied ahead for Solomon. Solomon's future acts (and those of the Israelites) didn't shock or surprise God. But he blessed Solomon and the people in this season of their life. We serve a kind and discerning father, who wants to bless his children with good things.

Pastor Evan Reedall shared an encouraging word from Ephesians 2:8-10 on how we all need grace, and maybe lately, some extra grace. To be gifted grace is to be given God’s favor and grace is a gift that is not forced, but rather received.
