Zer0 Rei came on "Hot Takes" this week to chat with us! A well respected musician and visual artist in the vaporwave scene, Zer0 Rei was someone we wanted to amplify and celebrate; and he clued us in about a lot of things during his episode, like his daily work ethic, his work with Desert Sand Feels Warm at Night, and his longtime love of Japanese noise rock band Melt-Banana. Starting with harsh noise music and bringing with him a wealth of experience in the live punk rock and metal scenes, Zer0 now not only runs a vaporwave and experimental music label but also produces his own music and designs hyperreal 3-D rendered graphics as well. He's multifaceted and full of knowledge and experience, so rapping with him for two hours was a delight! During the night, there were discussions about topics like the local art collectives he runs, his unique production method with MIDI files and samples within Ableton, and the differences between future funk and vaporfunk. The temperature went up noticeably as Zer0 Rei regaled us with his experience on HKE and Shima33's new defunct podcast. The trio groaned over shipping and warranty issues with boutique synths, the chat erupted in laughs as Zer0 presented on camera the giant goose plushie he received as a gift from his spouse for Christmas, and Shiro raged about artists' propensity to play unreleased material live but then never release it. If you weren't there live during our visit with Zer0 Rei, check it out! "Hot Takes" is a safe space for all opinions! Join the conversation at https://linktr.ee/hottakesvapor

We brought our delightful friend Shortstuf888 from the MiniDisc.wiki project on "Hot Takes" this week! Beloved scene builder and moderator of the MiniDisc.wiki Discord server and "Hot Takes" Discord server, Tiffany excitedly agreed to join us for an evening of exposition and education on the defunct minidisc format, along with some backstory about her journey with the project, and of course a strongly held opinion or two for a treat. Having discovered the format as an adult, Shortstuf and partner Special K built and now manage the wiki page and several social media accounts revolving around the community of minidisc enthusiasts, most notably a nearly 2,000 member strong public Discord server. On top of that, Tiffany is a profoundly active member of the vaporwave community, staffing tables at ElectroniCON tape swap events, decorating for live shows like VaporVA's i2K, and helping moderate our own vibrant community Discord server. While we visited, Shortstuf discussed why she thought we should bring acts like DV-i and HKE on the show, playing and storing other archaic forms of physical media like iPods and thumb drives, and she helped us understand some of the differences between British dubstep, brostep, and riddim music. Tune in for a heartwarming message for Shiro by Quiz at the halfway point of the episode! Perhaps you'll get get to see and hear about some of the more unique devices in her collection, and you might even get the 411 on how to record to minidisc or get affordable players via Japanese proxies. You heard it on "Hot Takes" episode 74 with MiniDisc.wiki! "Hot Takes" is a safe space for all opinions! Join the conversation at https://linktr.ee/hottakesvapor

Shock World Service 067: Continental Drift (Jon Averill) 4/2/16 London, United Kingdom 1. Razen - Sleeper Electronic trad? 2. Dean Blunt – Papi A fleeting piece from album ‘The Redeemer' 3. John Cooper Clarke - Health Fanatic Been a while since Dr Cooper Clarke made a world service appointment. Obvious lyrical prowess aside this is a unique & extraordinarily original piece. 4. 2 8 1 4 - Recovery Very tricky release to find, on vinyl at least. Telepath テレパシー能力者 & HKE are 2 8 1 4. Can't recommend their album ‘Birth of a New Day' highly enough. 5. Chassol - Music Is God Christophe Chassol want to Calcutta to record sounds & dialogue for his album Indiamore. Gilles Peterson fodder. 6. Spiritualized – I Didn't Mean To Hurt You (Instrumental) Caught Spiritualized performing ‘Ladies & Gentleman…' with full choir & orchestra late 2016, a reminder of how amazing they are in full flow. This is an instrumental version of a track from 2001's ‘Let It Come Down'. 7. Zazou Biyake – M'Pasi Ya M'Pamba Plinky plonky Afro electronic record I picked up that came out back in 1984 8. Sera Arreza - Bohol A piano piece I came across on Soundcloud, thanks to Sera for letting me include it in this episode. 9. Deaf Center – Thread Norwegian duo Deaf Center sounding a little like William Basinski on ‘Thread' 10. Die Unbekannten – Radio War Taking from the soundtrack to 'Lust & Sound In West-Berlin 79-89'. Which as the title suggests is a homage to the walled-in city. 11. Vaughan Williams - The Lark Ascending One of my favourite ever pieces of music. From the cold war to Great War – this was written just before the outbreak of the 1st World War. 12. TS Elliot - Journey of the Magi (Extract) A poem by TS Elliot from 1927 13. Soft as Snow - Black Birds (Maria Minerva Rework) This Maria Minerva mix segues very nicely over the previous track 14. Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood - Down From Dover You can't accuse me of not supporting Lee on this podcast 15. R2DJ - Clean Living Rescued off a scratched & dusty CD in my drawer. Beautiful slice & cut emo-hop from the album ‘Since We Last Spoke' 16. Elvis Presley - Black Star An unreleased Elvis track dealing with the inevitable state of demise. Rumoured to be where Bowie took inspiration for the title of his final album. ‘& when a man sees his black star he knows his time has come' & so dear listeners has ours for another podcast… http://www.shockworldservice.com/ Apple Podcasts: goo.gl/xyxuCh

Then realizing her weakness with progressive sorts in her campaign against Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton wore the RIGGED button figuratively at speeches. Now the deliciious irony is amoral Dem turned pseudo-Republican Trump overuses the term to tedium. The election is rigged. mass media and pols, even GOP officials, conspire against him in a fixed election.Let's discuss whether he has any case at all.I love that Okie Warren's word repeately comes from the fake donkey's mouth.Let's also touch on how the pathetic 35% to 45% who'd torch democracy for anti-woman, anti-lefty emotional voting will deal with the now-destined defeat. Some threaten rebellion, even assassination. The rotting husk of the Republican party chooses lizard-brain reactions right now. Can them come to democracy and the commonweal?
