"Hot Takes" season four had to come to an end at some point, so Skelly and Shiro decided to let the mod team take the reins; and they flipped the entire format upside down, posing their own recommendations and takes and lobbing questions at the hosts for the three-hour run. A deviation from the show's typical fare, we got to get some phenomenal insight into the "Hot Takes" mod team's tastes and get the know the two show hosts and their backgrounds quite a bit better too! Six profoundly important scene builders and taste making titans gave us their valuable time, going beyond their duties as Discord server mods and basically running the show themselves instead of Skelly and Shiro being in charge, for once. There were so many memorable moments, from conversations about how to attract and retain female/femme and POC attendees at URL vaporwave show to thoughts about the longevity of artist Patreons and limited runs of exclusive fan club vinyl releases; and let's not forget Shiro getting raked over the coals for editing track metadata in the tracks he downloads, changing capitalization and tags without artists' knowledge or consent! Bad boy! Despite some audio woes, long monologues, and one weary, energy drink chugging co-host towards the end, the episode was noteworthy, well attended, and shined an important light on six incredibly important figures in the scene right now: Crystal Eternal, Luxury Elite, Luxury Noise, Minidisc.Wiki, Quiz, and Roge Corp. Make sure to block out some time for this one, because it is lengthy and brimming with rants, raves, and rarities! "Hot Takes" is a safe space for all opinions! We brought our delightful friend Shortstuf888 from the MiniDisc.wiki project on "Hot Takes" this week! Beloved scene builder and moderator of the MiniDisc.wiki Discord server and "Hot Takes" Discord server, Tiffany excitedly agreed to join us for an evening of exposition and education on the defunct minidisc format, along with some backstory about her journey with the project, and of course a strongly held opinion or two for a treat. Having discovered the format as an adult, Shortstuf and partner Special K built and now manage the wiki page and several social media accounts revolving around the community of minidisc enthusiasts, most notably a nearly 2,000 member strong public Discord server. On top of that, Tiffany is a profoundly active member of the vaporwave community, staffing tables at ElectroniCON tape swap events, decorating for live shows like VaporVA's i2K, and helping moderate our own vibrant community Discord server. While we visited, Shortstuf discussed why she thought we should bring acts like DV-i and HKE on the show, playing and storing other archaic forms of physical media like iPods and thumb drives, and she helped us understand some of the differences between British dubstep, brostep, and riddim music. Tune in for a heartwarming message for Shiro by Quiz at the halfway point of the episode! Perhaps you'll get get to see and hear about some of the more unique devices in her collection, and you might even get the 411 on how to record to minidisc or get affordable players via Japanese proxies. You heard it on "Hot Takes" episode 74 with MiniDisc.wiki! "Hot Takes" is a safe space for all opinions! Join the conversation at https://linktr.ee/hottakesvapor

Sit in with Chris, Rob and John as they fondly remember the MiniDisc, Chris finally gets his wisdom teeth out and Rob becomes a philanthopist as well as gets a new book in the chamber. They also introduce you (probably) to justwatch.com, Kanopy and perplexity.ai. If you like it, or even if you don't, go leave a review somewhere. They'd appreciate it. Enjoy!!

Mix it Baby! Ein kurzes Statusupdate zu Record All The Things!
A show with mixes that have never been online before. Can be in all styles, most will be with vinyl. Got a bunch of old MiniDisks that I have to convert!! This time the first set I ever recorded on MiniDisc! Almost 23 years ago. Set never made it further than the MiniDisc I recorded it on. It's a Hard Trance and a really Early Hardstyle set. Well not all really Early Hardstyle but some of the records created the path to Hardstyle for me!! Also, the labels BXR, Nuklez and definitely Tracid Traxxx showed me a new style. As they continue to get harder and harder. The Harder Trance parts of the tracks became known as Hardstyle a few years later. At least this is my memory of how the musical journey went for me in those days. Hardcore was a bit fading out for me to play at that moment in time so I searched for a new style. And Hardstyle became it for me. Played these kind of records between 1998 and 2004 HAMdj - What Dreams May Come (12-05-2001) 01. Bismark - Make A Dream (Club Mix) [BXR 1102] 02. Mario Piu' Aka DJ Arabesque - The Vision (Vision 1 Mix) [BXR 1101] 03. Mauro Picotto - Iguana (Blank & Jones Remix) [BXRG 1078-12] 04. Embargo ! - Drums & Loops [CW021] 05. Mauro Picotto - Pegasus (Superclub Mix) [NUK P 0230] 06. Mario Piu' & Mauro Picotto - Spectra (Action Mix) [BXR 1059] 07. Nick Sentience & Mark Tyler - Wild Ride [NUK P 0222] 08. Pulsar & Friends - Biasca [PET 002] 09. K - Only The Strong [TTX 2002] 10. Master & Servant - Aurus (DJ Headhunter Mix) [none] 11. Zero-Gi - Dis [CW037] 12. Silent Breed - Sync-In [TTX 2004] 13. A*S*Y*S - Acid Save Your Soul (Auf Die 12 Mix) [TTX 2012] 14. Arrakis - The Spice [TTX 2007] 15. A*S*Y*S - DJ's Nightmare [TTX 2026] 16. Warmduscher 1 - Auf Die Fresse! [TTX 2010]

To cap off season 2, Nick and Austin tackle the remaining OK Computer b-sides, coming up with a grand theory to explain why some of these songs aren't as impressive as b-sides from The Bends.
