Al pie del Sinaí habían hecho con él un pacto como su "especial tesoro sobre todos los pueblos". Solemnemente habían prometido seguir por la senda de la obediencia. Habían dicho: "Todo lo que Jehová ha dicho haremos" Éxodo 19:5, 8. Y cuando, algunos días más tarde, la ley de Dios fue pronunciada desde el monte y por medio de Moisés se dieron instrucciones adicionales en forma de estatutos y juicios, los israelitas volvieron a prometer a una voz: "Todo lo que Jehová ha dicho haremos". Habían presenciado la grandiosa majestad de la proclamación de la ley, y habían temblado de terror ante el monte; y sin embargo, apenas unas pocas semanas después, quebrantaron su pacto con Dios al postrarse a adorar una imagen fundida. No podían esperar el favor de Dios por medio de un pacto que ya habían roto; y entonces viendo su pecaminosidad y su necesidad de perdón, llegaron a sentir la necesidad del Salvador revelado en el pacto de Abraham y simbolizado en los sacrificios. Cuando estamos oprimidos y fatigados, él lo sabe, y es él quien nos provee del refrigerio espiritual. Pedidle; velad en oración, y vendrá. Jesús es el pan de vida, que se ha de comer todos los días; es el agua de vida para el alma sedienta y desfalleciente, y todos pueden participar de su gracia. Las cisternas de la tierra a menudo están vacías, sus estanques se secan; pero en Cristo hay un manantial vivo del que podemos beber continuamente. Por mucho que saquemos y demos a los demás, seguirá habiendo abundancia. No hay peligro de agotar el suministro, porque Cristo es el manantial inagotable de la verdad. Él ha sido la fuente de agua viva desde la caída de Adán. Dice: «Si alguno tiene sed, venga a mí y beba». This episode is about dictators challenging borders and annulling the concept of sovereignty and universal human rights, in a world of rapid geopolitical devolution, to a far more barbaric age.“I'm going to Russia on Friday.” Said Trump at a D.C. presser on crime, days before his Alaska summit. He made this mistake twice in the same day, in fact. Alaska: is the last frontier—also a U.S. state since 1959, despite today's vibes from the White House briefing room. That slip isn't just a meme; it's a metaphor for the successful manipulation of Trump by Putin, of the Trump regime, and US foreign policy. Y después que Jetro oyó hablar de la maravillosa liberación de los israelitas de Egipto, visitó a Moisés en el desierto, y le llevó su esposa y sus hijos. "Y Moisés salió a recibir a su suegro, y se inclinó, y lo besó; y se preguntaron el uno al otro, cómo estaban, y vinieron a la tienda, y Moisés contó a su suegro todas las cosas que Jehová había hecho a Faraón y a los egipcios por amor de Israel, y todo el trabajo que habían pasado en el camino, y cómo los había librado Jehová. "Y se alegró Jetro de todo el bien que Jehová había hecho a Israel, al haberlo librado de mano de los egipcios. Dijo a Moisés: "Oye ahora mi voz; yo te aconsejaré, y Dios estará contigo. Está por el pueblo delante de Dios, y somete tú los asuntos a Dios. Y enseña a ellos las ordenanzas y las leyes, y muéstrales el camino por donde deben andar, y lo que han de hacer. Además, escoge tú de entre todo el pueblo varones de virtud, temerosos de Dios, varones de verdad, que aborrezcan la avaricia; y ponlos sobre el pueblo por jefes de millares, de centenas, de cincuenta y de diez. Ellos juzgarán al pueblo en todo tiempo; y todo asunto grave lo traerán a ti, y ellos juzgarán todo asunto pequeño. Así aliviarás la carga de sobre ti, y la llevarán ellos contigo. Sin embargo no adujo que Dios lo había escogido para instruir a otros, que había realizado maravillas por su intermedio, y que por lo tanto no necesitaba que nadie lo instruyera. Escuchó de buen grado las sugerencias de su suegro, y adoptó su plan puesto que era sabio (La historia de la redención, pp. 138-139).

Ellos exclamaron airados: "¿Por qué nos hiciste subir de Egipto, para matarnos de sed a nosotros, y a nuestros hijos, y a nuestros ganados?" Cuando se los había abastecido abundantemente de alimentos, recordaron con vergüenza su incredulidad y sus murmuraciones, y pro-metieron que en el futuro confiarían en el Señor; pero pronto olvidaron su promesa, y fracasaron en la primera prueba de su fe. La columna de nube que los dirigía, parecía esconder un terrible misterio. Y Moisés, ¿quién era él? preguntaban, ¿y cuál sería su objeto al sacarlos de Egipto? La sospecha y la desconfianza llenaron sus corazones, y osadamente le acusaron de proyectar matarlos a ellos y a sus hijos mediante privaciones y penurias, con el objeto de enriquecerse con los bienes de ellos. En la confusión de la ira y la indignación que los dominó, estuvieron a punto de apedrear a Moisés. Angustiado, Moisés clamó al Señor: "¿Qué haré con este pueblo?" Se le dijo que, llevando la vara con que había hecho milagros en Egipto, y acompañado de los ancianos, se presentara ante el pueblo. Y el Señor le dijo: "He aquí que yo estoy delante de ti allí sobre la peña en Horeb; y herirás la peña, y saldrán de ella aguas, y beberá el pueblo". Moisés obedeció y brotaron las aguas en una corriente viva que proporcionó agua en abundancia a todo el campamento. En vez de mandar a Moisés que levantara su vara para traer sobre los promotores de aquella inicua murmuración alguna terrible plaga como las de Egipto, el Señor, en su gran misericordia, usó la vara como instrumento de liberación (Historia de los patriarcas y profetas, p. 304). "Si alguno tiene sed, venga a mí y beba. El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura, ríos de agua viva correrán de su vientre". La condición del pueblo daba fuerza a este llamamiento. Habían estado participando de una continua escena de pompa y festividad, sus ojos estaban deslumbrados por la luz y el color, y sus oídos halagados por la más rica música; pero no había nada en toda esta ceremonia que satisficiese las necesidades del espíritu, nada que aplacase la sed del alma por lo imperecedero. Jesús los invitaba a venir y beber en la fuente de la vida, de aquello que sería en ellos un manantial de agua que brotara para vida eterna. El sacerdote había cumplido esa mañana la ceremonia que con-memoraba la acción de golpear la roca en el desierto. Esa roca era un símbolo de Aquel que por su muerte haría fluir raudales de salvación a todos los sedientos. Las palabras de Cristo eran el agua de vida. Allí en presencia de la congregada muchedumbre se puso aparte para ser herido, a fin de que el agua de la vida pudiese fluir al mundo. Al herir a Cristo, Satanás pensaba destruir al Príncipe de la vida; pero de la roca herida fluía agua viva (El Deseado de todas las gentes, p. 417).

Sus provisiones alimenticias se estaban agotando. Había escasez de hierba en el desierto, y sus rebaños comenzaban a disminuir. ¿Cómo podía suministrarse alimento a esta enorme multitud? Las dudas se apoderaron de sus corazones, y otra vez murmuraron. No veían cómo podía subsistir la hueste de Israel, durante su larga travesía por el desierto, con los sencillos alimentos de que disponía, y en su incredulidad suponían que sus hijos perecerían de hambre. El Señor quería que sus alimentos escasearan y que enfrentaran dificultades, para que sus corazones se volvieran al que los había ayudado hasta ese momento, y para que creyeran en él. Estaba dispuesto a ser para ellos una ayuda constante. Si lo invocaban en su necesidad, él les daría señales de su amor y de su continuo cuidado. Pero parecía que no estaban dispuestos a confiar en el Señor ni un poco más si no podían ver con sus ojos las constantes evidencias de su poder. Si verdaderamente hubieran tenido fe y una firme confianza en Dios, habrían soportado alegremente los inconvenientes y obstáculos, y aun el verdadero sufrimiento, puesto que el Señor había obrado de una manera tan maravillosa para librarlos de la esclavitud (The Signs of the Times, 8 de abril, 1880, párr. 5, 6; parcialmente en Historia de los patriarcas y profetas, p. 297; y en La historia de la redención, p. 131). El maná que caía del cielo para el sustento de Israel era un símbolo de Aquel que vino de Dios a dar vida al mundo. Dijo Jesús: "Yo soy el pan de vida. Vuestros padres comieron el maná en el desierto, y son muertos. Este es el pan que desciende del cielo.... Si alguno comiere de este pan, vivirá para siempre; y el pan que yo daré es mi carne, la cual yo daré por la vida del mundo". Juan 6:48-51. What we are seeing is the culmination of months of theatre, where expectations were toyed with, the notion of peace was teased, abused, manipulated and distorted. Now we see all these things coming together, but no real prospect of peace. No process done in good faith that could lead to negotiated peace as an outcome. Putin does not deal with any country in good faith unless they show extraordinary strength – and of a particular authoritarian bullying kind. In any case, Russia only places faith in an agreement while it benefits from the scenario. As soon as it is not beneficial, all treaties are contingent, broken and rejected, the terms flouted. So it will be here, but Putin is not dealing with people (like Trump) whom he sees as strong or a threat.As James Sherr incisively comment today, “To paraphrase a Russian expression, against whom are you waging peace?” He also notes that every ultimatum from Trump is a prelude to a step change in reverse. He dangles all sorts of possibilities with allies and in the face of adversaries, only to drop them at a moment's notice when the reverse gear step change is required. Secondly, Witkoff is not an emissary of peace – he is the herald and harbinger of treachery. Trump did not send him to Moscow to negotiate peace, in face to negotiate anything, but to acquiesce to a betrayal. And this is what is now unfolding. Betrayal of Ukraine, betrayal of allies, betrayal of the principles of law, justice and fairness. No obstante, estaban llenos de regocijo porque se sabían libres, y todo pensamiento de descontento se había acallado. Pero durante tres días de marcha no pudieron encontrar agua. La provisión que habían traído estaba agotada. No había nada que apagara la sed abrasadora mientras avanzaban lenta y penosamente a través de las llanuras calcinadas por el sol. Moisés, que conocía esa región, sabía lo que los demás ignoraban, que en Mara, el lugar más cercano donde hallarían fuentes, el agua no era apta para beber. En vez de confiar y temer al Señor, creyendo en él en medio de circunstancias aparentemente desalentadoras, proyectaron su reproche sobre su dirigente. Lo mismo ocurre con esta generación. La estructura de las tentaciones de Satanás es siempre la misma. Mientras todo marcha bien, la gente cree que tiene fe. Sin embargo, cuando sufren o sobrevienen desastres o reveses, se desaniman fácilmente. La fe que solo depende de las circunstancias, que únicamente se manifiesta cuando todo marcha bien, no es una fe genuina. En medio de este problema, Moisés clamó al Señor. Esto es lo que los hijos de Israel, recientemente liberados, debieron haber hecho. El Señor escuchó el clamor de su siervo, contra quien el pueblo había dicho cosas tan amargas. "Y Jehová le mostró un árbol; y lo echó en las aguas, y las aguas se endulzaron". No era ninguna virtud contenida en el árbol la que transformó el agua amarga en dulce; era el poder de Uno que estaba envuelto en la columna de nube, Uno que puede hacer todas las cosas. "Allí les dio estatutos y ordenanzas, y allí los probó; 26 y dijo: Si oyeres atentamente la voz de Jehová tu Dios, e hicieres lo recto delante de sus ojos, y dieres oído a sus mandamientos, y guardares todos sus estatutos, ninguna enfermedad de las que envié a los egipcios te enviaré a ti; porque yo soy Jehová tu sanador". Olvidaron su amarga servidumbre en Egipto. Olvidaron las bondades y el poder que Dios había manifestado en su favor al liberarlos de la esclavitud. Olvidaron cómo sus hijos se habían salvado cuando el ángel exterminador dio muerte a todos los primogénitos de Egipto. Olvidaron la gran demostración del poder divino en el mar Rojo. Olvidaron que mientras ellos habían cruzado con felicidad el sendero abierto especialmente para ellos, los ejércitos enemigos, al intentar per-seguirlos, se habían hundido en las aguas del mar. Veían y sentían tan solo las incomodidades y pruebas que estaban soportando, y en lugar de decir: "Dios ha hecho grandes cosas con nosotros, ya que habiendo sido esclavos, nos hace una nación grande", hablaban de las durezas del camino, y se preguntaban cuándo terminaría su tedioso peregrinaje. La historia de la vida de Israel en el desierto fue escrita para beneficio del Israel de Dios hasta el fin del tiempo. El relato de cómo trató Dios a los peregrinos en todas sus idas y venidas por el desierto, en su exposición al hambre, a la sed y al cansancio, y en las destacadas manifestaciones de su poder para aliviarlos, está lleno de advertencias e instrucciones para su pueblo de todas las edades. Las variadas experiencias de los hebreos eran una escuela destinada a prepararlos para su prometido hogar en Canaán. Dios quiere que su pueblo de estos días repase con corazón humilde y espíritu dócil las pruebas a través de las cuales el Israel antiguo tuvo que pasar, para que le ayuden en su preparación para la Canaán celestial (Conflicto y valor, 29 de marzo, p. 94). El pecado de los egipcios estuvo en que habían rehusado la luz que Dios les había enviado tan bondadosamente mediante José. Aunque muchos aceptaron esa luz, de muchos más podría decirse que Dios no estaba en todos sus pensamientos. Y el mensaje enviado para testificarles del desagrado de Dios fue: "Entended ahora esto, los que os olvidáis de Dios, no sea que os despedace, y no haya quien os libre". Cristo murió por cada alma en Egipto, y cada alma debía tener la luz. Los justos no debían ser excluidos de los impíos, sino guardados por el poder de Dios de recibir el moho y la mancha del transgresor (The Youth's Instructor, "God's Representatives [Moses]", 15 de abril, 1897, párr. 7).

Éxodo 14:21. "Que marchen" fueron las palabras transmitidas por Moisés y que repitieron los capitanes de las diferentes divisiones. En obediencia las huestes de Israel recorrieron el trayecto que de una manera sorprendente y maravillosa se les había preparado. La luz procedente de la columna de fuego de Dios resplandecía sobre las espumosas olas e iluminaba el camino que se había abierto como poderoso surco a través del mar. A medida que la nube avanzaba lentamente, los centinelas egipcios descubrieron que los israelitas habían abandonado el campamento y de inmediato el poderoso ejército se alistó para avanzar. Podían oír a los hebreos que marchaban, pero les era imposible verlos, pues la nube que iluminaba a Israel, era para los egipcios una muralla impenetrable de tinieblas. Guiados por el sonido los egipcios entraron por la asombrosa senda que Dios había preparado para su pueblo. Toda aquella noche prosiguieron, pero avanzaron con lentitud, pues sus carruajes se movían pesadamente. Pero seguían avanzando con la esperanza de que la oscuridad se disipara y pudieran aprehender al pueblo fugitivo. Al fin las sombras de la noche se desvanecieron y al romper el alba el ejército perseguidor ya casi daba alcance a los fugitivos hebreos... Ante sus ojos asombrados la misteriosa nube se transformó en una columna de fuego que ascendía desde la tierra hasta el cielo. Los truenos retumbaron y los relámpagos resplandecieron. "Las nubes echaron inundaciones de aguas; tronaron los cielos, y discurrieron tus rayos. La voz de tu trueno estaba en el torbellino; tus relámpagos alumbraron el mundo. Se estremeció y tembló la tierra". Los egipcios fueron presa de la confusión y la consternación. En medio de la ira de los elementos, en los cuales escuchaban la voz airada del Señor, se esforzaron por desandar sus pasos y huir hacia la costa que habían abandonado. Pero Moisés extendió su cayado y la muralla de agua con un silbido y rugido estrepitoso se precipitó devorando al ejército egipcio y sepultándolo en sus oscuras profundidades. Al romper el alba, se reveló ante los ojos de la multitud de Israel lo que quedaba de aquel poderoso enemigo: solo algunos restos humanos que eran arrastrados por el mar hacia la costa. Lo que comenzó siendo una noche ensombrecida por terribles peligros amaneció con liberación en sus alas... Jehová solo les había traído rescate y hacia él se volvieron sus corazones con gratitud y con fe. Sus emociones prorrumpieron en cantos de alabanza (Cristo triunfante, 8 de abril, p. 107).

XX We've got the first and only biosimilar FDA approved and moving to market. Kirsty – insulin aspart, which is a biosimilar to Novolog will be available as a single-patient-use prefilled pen for subcutaneous use and a multiple-dose vial for subcutaneous and intravenous use. KIRSTY has been available in Europe and Canada since 2022. This same company makes Semglee, the first biosimilar for long acting? In a July 22 notice, the San Diego-based company warned of pumps that may exhibit a higher rate of speaker failure. During normal use, the insulin pump software monitors current flowing through the speaker during use. Measurements that fall within a pre-determined range indicate a functioning speaker. Meanwhile, measurements falling outside the range indicate a speaker failure.   When the measurements land outside the expected range, the system declares a malfunction, referred to as “Malfunction 16.” If the pump declares this malfunction, insulin delivery will stop and the pump will no longer be operational. Malfunction 16 terminates communication between the pump and continuous glucose monitor (CGM), as well as the t:slim mobile app.   If not addressed, the issue can lead to hyperglycemia, which can result in hospitalization or medical intervention. The company reports 700 adverse events and 59 reported injuries to date, with no reports of death.   Tandem identified that certain speaker versions have a higher rate of Malfunction 16 events due to a wiring issue within the speaker. Users can continue using their pump but with added precautions because Malfunction 16 can occur at any time. They should use the t:slim mobile app with push notifications turned on so the app alerts them if the malfunction occurs, the company said.   Additionally, Tandem intends to release a software update aimed at enhancing the early detection of speaker failure. The update also introduces persistent vibration alarms to help reduce potential safety risk. If they still refuse contact us! https://followt1ds.org/ XX new study finds people taking GLP-1 agonists had a significantly lower cumulative risk of developing dementia, when compared to metformin users. Past studies show that people who have type 2 diabetes — a chronic condition where the body does not use its insulin properly — are at a higher risk of developing dementia. Unlike the traditional autoimmune version of T1D, this form appears to develop without the immune system attacking the insulin-producing cells. This finding could significantly reshape how diabetes is diagnosed and treated across the region, potentially leading to more precise care and better health outcomes. The researchers found that many young people in Sub-Saharan Africa diagnosed with T1D often don't have the usual markers in their blood (called islet autoantibodies) typically seen in people with T1D in other parts of the world. Specifically, 65% of participants with T1D in this region did not have islet autoantibodies. When the researchers compared this data to studies in the U.S., they found a smaller but significant proportion (15%) of Black participants diagnosed with T1D had a similar form of diabetes found in Sub-Saharan Africa – characterized by negative autoantibodies and a low T1D genetic risk score.   However, white Americans with T1D showed the typical autoimmune pattern, even if they didn't have detectable autoantibodies, their genetics still pointed to autoimmune diabetes.   “The identification of this T1D diabetes subtype in Sub-Saharan African populations and among individuals of African ancestry in the U.S. suggests a potential ancestral or genetic link,” Dabelea notes. “These findings highlight the need to consider alternative etiologies in this group and a deeper understanding of the underlying mechanisms may provide important insights for future prevention and treatment strategies.”     https://scitechdaily.com/new-diabetes-subtype-discovered-in-africa-challenges-global-assumptions/   XX Formal recognition for the specialty of Diabetology.   Diabetology is the specialty focused on the full continuum of diabetes care — encompassing diagnosis, treatment, prevention, technology integration, education, and cardiometabolic management. The pricing talks come after President Donald Trump inked a “Most Favored Nation” executive order in May, aiming to tie U.S. drug prices to lower prices in other developed nations. It challenges the long-standing perception of diet drinks being a healthier alternative and suggests they may carry metabolic risks of their own. In the first longitudinal study of its kind, led by Monash University, researchers tracked 36,608 participants over an average period of 13.9 years to assess how both sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and artificially sweetened beverages (ASBs) impacted health outcomes. The self-reported health data, from the Melbourne Collaborative Cohort Study, was drawn from participants aged 40 to 69 years at the time of recruitment.   What they found was that drinking just one can of artificially sweetened soda increased the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 38%, compared to people who didn't consume these drinks at all. For those consuming the same amount of sugary drinks, the risk was 23% higher. This suggests there's more than obesity at play. The researchers believe this result is due to an independent metabolic effect, possibly gut microbiome disruption or a change in glucose metabolism.   While the study didn't identify which artificial sweeteners were at play,   Evidence suggests that artificial sweeteners can alter the composition and function of gut bacteria, leading to glucose intolerance – a precursor to type 2 diabetes. And that some sweeteners may trigger insulin release, desensitize metabolic responses over time, or confuse the body's glucose regulation system – even without actual sugar in the picture.   Another hypothesis is that regular exposure to the kind of intense sweetness that artificial products deliver may condition the body to anticipate sugar calories that never come, affecting appetite regulation, insulin sensitivity and broader metabolic pathways. However, the authors suggest that how sweeteners affect the gut microbiota and glucose regulation are the most likely drivers of increased diabetes risk.   https://newatlas.com/diet-nutrition/one-drink-diabetes-risk/ XX After months of deliberation, information gathering and public testimony, a state board unanimously agreed Monday that two common medications for type-2 diabetes and other conditions appear to pose an affordability challenge to the state and Marylanders.   The state Prescription Drug Affordability Board approved two resolutions saying that prescription drugs Jardiance and Farxiga likely pose an “an affordability challenge for the state health care system” and the state should look for ways to bring down those costs.   Health care advocates call the long-awaited resolution an “important first step” in the process in bringing down prescription costs for those on the state's health plan.       That milestone has been years in the making. Created in 2019 by the General Assembly, the Prescription Drug Affordability Board was slow to launch due in part to a veto from former Gov. Larry Hogan (R) amid pandemic-induced economic uncertainty in 2020 that delayed the board's formation. The board also cited out-of-pocket costs for consumers and state and local spending on those drugs as indicators that there may be an affordability challenge.   The board will now look at options to address the potential affordability challenge, which could include setting an upper payment limit on those drugs. But it's not clear when the state will see cost savings.   That said, some members of the health care system and the pharmaceutical industry say that policies such as upper payment limits could weaken access to life-saving drugs. Teigen posted a photo of Miles and Luna holding up a sign. Also visible in the picture was the insulin pump on Miles' arm. Now, Teigen is sharing some insight into how she's making Miles more comfortable with having type 1 diabetes, including giving LeBron James' Barbie doll type 1 diabetes as well.
