What happens when ministry success outpaces personal character? The Areopagites welcome fellow AFR podcaster Jamey Bennett to discuss the new Christianity Today podcast The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill, which tracks the meteoric rise and collapse of Mars Hill Church in Seattle, led by Mark Driscoll. Far from looking only at Mark Driscoll himself and the particular story of his church, the CT podcast examines the context that made that kind of rise possible and draws out lessons for any who are in ministry or Christian leadership. Fr. Andrew reminds Jamey that he owes him a goat, Pastor Mike does his cartoon Tasmanian Devil impersonation again, and Jamey offers his help with creating Rap Knights.

Hey folks, It's been more than a minute since I've checked in and said hello. I'm sorry for my absence, but I've got to be honest, the things I've been doing have been quite excellent. For example, I got married, and that is incredible and required my full attention for quite some time! And sure, there have been difficulties—my, oh my, haven't we all? This was a chance I had to feature some of my music, explain a few things, and hit some highlights from our history. This is the first episode with my boy Nomadik Vagabond, and I think that's quite remarkable. Enjoy. Shout outs to CookBook, Soup the Chemist, Nomadik Vagabond, Johnny Bishop, OffRoadHipHop, DJ Sean P, Joey the Jerk, Pigeon John, and plenty of others! Stay healthy! Chunjay aka Jamey Bennett
In episode #17 of Drums and Rums, where the backbeats meet the spirits. In this episode, I catch up with Jamey Bennett of Royal Ruckus. He talks about getting hooked on beats by learning drums at an early age from teachers such as Eddie Money's drummer Johnny Snider, how he got into hip hop and rap, some of the projects he's working on and a little bit about his faith. We also sample some rum. El Dorado a 12 year old rum from Guyana and an offering Hazelnut Spice rum from Rogue Ales. You may be familiar with their craft beer.
