In Hour 1… (4:21) The United States and Canada squared off in an overtime thriller during the Four Nations Face-Off Final on Thursday night, and it captivated Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic Sr. From what it meant on the ice, to the larger meaning politically, it held the attention of NHL fans, hockey fans, and those who've never watched a game on ice. The guys break down everything they loved about the game, the tournament, and dealing with a loss from their home country. (15:47) Perhaps the biggest news Thursday - Spurs F/C Victor Wembanyama was sidelined for the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with blood clots in his shoulder. The guys discuss what a blow this is for the Spurs, as well as the league, as well as how disappointed they are not being able to see Wembanyama make a potential push for the playoffs. (21:55) Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin called it a career after 11 seasons in the NFL this week, and the guys give Martin his well-deserved flowers. Being one of the most consistent starters in the NFL, the Cowboys are losing one of their best payers over the last decade, and the Golic's pay homage to what he's meant towards offensive line play as a whole. (36:52) The deadline has passed, but the stories surrounding it have not after Mark Williams reportedly failed his physical after being traded to the Lakers, thus keeping him in Charlotte. The Lakers and Hornets squared off on Wednesday, where Williams went 10-9-2 in the “revenge” spot. The guys get into the nuts and bolts of this one, and discuss if the Lakers actually “sabotaged” their own deal. (44:50) College Football Season never really ends, and that held true as Texas announced this week that they will no longer be hosting their Spring Football Games, citing that college football was changing, and they need to adapt, and with how deep of a season the team played, they needed rest. Should more schools take this approach? Mike and Mike break it all down. (51:51) To close out the first hour, Mike Golic Jr. gives a brief preview of this weekend's NBA slate, highlighted by the Timberwolves taking on the Rockets on Friday Night Click here to subscribe, rate, and review the newest episodes of GoJo and Golic! College football entered a new era in 2024 with 'Expansion' being the season's theme. The Big Ten and SEC expanded, adding both traditional and new-age powerhouse programs to their conferences, one of which won the league in Year 1. The College Football Playoff expanded from four to 12 teams, producing the longest season ever. All of those things lessened the consequences for some and weighted the rewards for others. No team fit that description more than Ohio State as it won a national title despite losing to its rival and failing to even make the Big Ten Championship Game. On this episode of Buckeye Talk, Stephen Means and Stefan Krajisnik discuss the 2024 season, sharing highlights, challenges, and everything else in between. Thanks for listening to Buckeye Talk. After a wild weekend of action, FOX Sports' lead College Football analyst Joel Klatt takes a look at six wild outcomes for the rest of the season that are actually much more possible than you'd initially think. He maps out the path for Boise State to get a First Round bye in the Playoff along with the path for Alabama to go from beating Georgia to missing out on the Playoff. He also looks at the possibility of A&M and Texas meeting not once but twice this season and a #1 vs #2 matchup in Happy Valley next month. Klatt also discusses the likelihood of Ashton Jeanty winning the Heisman and how he ranks the contenders like Colorado's Travis Hunter and Miami's Cam Ward. He also gives a quick summary of the latest legal ruling as college football moves towards a new revenue sharing agreement. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
