Put the credit card down. Before you spend $150 on a De'Zhaun Stribling jersey, you might want to know that Stribling just changed his number. And he's not the only one. Several 49ers players have switched numbers ahead of the 2026 season opener in Melbourne. I'll bet hundreds, if not thousands, of Stribling jerseys were already sold with his strong pre-season. Melbourne is nine days away. The Rams are waiting. And the 49ers are making sure their roster looks exactly right before the whole world is watching on September 10th.

The same player isn't the same value on every platform. ESPN, Yahoo and Sleeper all price players differently, which means the guy you're reaching for in one league is a bargain in another. Kendall Valenzuela and Peter Overzet go position by position and platform by platform to find the biggest gaps between where each site's ADP has a player and where Kendall actually ranks him. Every value comes with the exact math: the positional ADP, Kendall's positional rank, the difference, and how many spots of overall value you're capturing. At quarterback it's Justin Herbert on ESPN, going as the QB14 at pick 106 despite ranking as a top-10 quarterback — a twenty-spot overall gap. Brock Purdy is the Yahoo answer, Trevor Lawrence the Sleeper one, and Caleb Williams and Joe Burrow show up in the top-five value lists too. Running back gets interesting because Kenneth Walker is the answer on both ESPN and Yahoo, but at meaningfully different prices, while Sleeper's ADP creates a much bigger opening on Rhamondre Stevenson. At receiver it's three different names entirely: Mike Evans on ESPN, Garrett Wilson on Yahoo, and Chris Godwin on Sleeper. Tight end is where it gets strange. Dalton Kincaid on ESPN and Mark Andrews on Yahoo are both positional values that come with negative overall value — meaning you're getting a good tight end at a bad total price, which is a trap worth understanding before you take one. Sleeper is the only platform where the math works cleanly. Each position also gets the full top-five value board for that platform, so you're not just walking away with one name. Find out which site you're drafting on and draft accordingly.
You don't need to spend an early pick on a quarterback to win your fantasy football league. Addison and John break down four quarterbacks being drafted outside the top eight who could dramatically outperform their ADP in 2026: Brock Purdy, Tyler Shough, Jordan Love and Malik Willis. From Shough's late-round upside and rushing ability to Jordan Love's elite underlying metrics and Malik Willis' rushing floor and potential for massive passing volume, these are the quarterbacks we're targeting when we're willing to wait at the position. They're going to Melbourne. And nobody knows exactly what they are yet. That's what makes this 49ers team the most fascinating story in the NFC heading into 2026. Because on one hand — the hope is real and it is enormous. Brock Purdy is entering his prime and on the verge of owning the highest career passer rating in NFL history. Christian McCaffrey is the best all-purpose weapon in football when his body cooperates. Mike Evans is a future HOF'er. Deebo Samuel is home. De'Zhaun Stribling just had the best preseason of any rookie receiver in the NFC. On the other hand ... Is Bosa 80% of what he used to be? Can Kittle give this season a real burst? Can CMC hold up? Will the defense rush the QB? We simply do not know. The hope. The questions. The ceiling. The floor. And what has to happen for the 2026 San Francisco 49ers to finally be the team that ends the drought and brings a Lombardi Trophy back to the Bay.
Brian Peacock of "Locked on 49ers" joins John Lund to discuss the 49ers' strengths, including the potential for a great season from quarterback Brock Purdy and the exciting young players on the roster. They also highlight the team's ability to overcome injuries, citing last season's success despite a banged-up roster. However, they also acknowledge the challenges the team may face, particularly on defense, where the hosts express concerns about the lack of proven players at defensive tackleSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The San Francisco 49ers play their final preseason game in Las Vegas against the Raiders — and the only thing Kyle Shanahan cares about is getting every starter on that plane to Melbourne healthy, whole, and ready to go. Brock Purdy isn't playing. Nick Bosa isn't playing. Christian McCaffrey isn't playing. George Kittle isn't playing. The starters are staying home tonight and that is exactly the right call. Stay healthy. Play clean. Get on the plane.
You can walk into a draft with a perfect plan. Targets identified, sleepers ranked, a strategy for every slot. And then three rounds in, none of it survives contact. Kendall Valenzuela, Peter Overzet and Dwain McFarland break down two real drafts from Draft Nation, pick by pick, including one where almost nothing went the way Dwain wanted it to. First up is the 16-round best ball draft where Dwain sat at pick 11 with Pete right ahead of him at 10 — which meant getting sniped repeatedly by the guy sitting next to him. They walk through every stage of the build: Ashton Jeanty, Kenneth Walker and Colston Loveland to start for Dwain against Jonathan Taylor, Chase Brown and Garrett Wilson for Pete. Then the middle rounds with Tetairoa McMillan, Quinshon Judkins, De'Zhaun Stribling, Jaylen Waddle, Mike Evans and Tyler Warren. Then KC Concepcion, Justin Herbert, Josh Downs, Rico Dowdle and Xavier Worthy, and finally the late-round swings on Brock Purdy, Mark Andrews, Adonai Mitchell, Jaydon Blue, Tre Harris and Keaton Mitchell. Then they switch formats entirely. Kendall and Pete recap a $350 high-stakes managed league, 20 rounds with a third-round reversal, and Pete explains exactly what changes when real money is on the line instead of best ball. Kendall opened Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Saquon Barkley, Rashee Rice, Tetairoa McMillan and Josh Jacobs from pick 7; Pete went Christian McCaffrey, Justin Jefferson, Trey McBride, Jameson Williams and D'Andre Swift from pick 11. The point isn't the specific picks. It's watching what an experienced drafter actually does in the moment when the board refuses to cooperate — which runs to chase, when to abandon a plan, and how to build something functional out of the pieces nobody else wanted.
The Los Angeles Rams added Myles Garrett. They traded for Trent McDuffie. They're making a push for Aaron Donald to come back. Matthew Stafford is still throwing touchdowns in bunches, Kyren Williams hits 1,200 yards like it's a subscription service, and the supporting cast has no holes. They're the Super Bowl favorites at +550. The NFC West is their division to lose. DJ and Kelcey break down every NFC West team game by game — the Rams, the defending champion Seahawks, a 49ers squad dealing with the most catastrophic offseason in recent memory, and the Cardinals, who started the year with Jeremiah Love in a walking boot before the season even opened. The 49ers had over 25 players injured at the same time, a head coach still recovering from a car accident, an owner making headlines for all the wrong reasons, and a draft that John Lynch admitted was partially influenced by AI. Kelcey's verdict: the AI got out of its sandbox and destroyed the entire offseason. DJ has them at 6-11. Kelcey has them at 7-10. Neither is great news for Brock Purdy. The Seahawks are the defending champions and still loaded defensively — Witherspoon, a mad-genius head coach, and a secondary that got an interesting addition in Trevon Diggs. But Kenneth Walker is gone to Kansas City, the offensive weapons beyond JSN are thin, and Clint Kubiak left for Las Vegas. Kelcey has them falling all the way to 8-9. DJ gives them a bit more credit at 10-7. Both think they miss the Super Bowl. Then there are the Cardinals. Two wins. Maybe three. New coaching staff, a LaFleur at the helm, a historic Trey McBride tight end season that almost certainly won't repeat, and Marvin Harrison Jr. trying to shake off a year of drops and drama. DJ actually believes in MHJ's bounce-back. Kelcey is betting the under on McBride touchdowns at -130. Eight prop bets. Four teams. Both hosts have the Rams at 13-4 and the NFC's No. 1 seed. The only question is whether Aaron Donald makes a cameo before November.
