Craig Snyder grew up in Oxford, Ohio, listening to 97X and making mixtapes for his friends. That love of music stayed with him as he interned at EMI, worked as a producer at Little Steven's Underground Garage, managed and promoted indie bands, and in his current role at Lyte.com helping venues and festivals get more music fans to shows. We chat with Craig about his how his love of 97X and his mixtape mastery led to his future music gigs, and why human recommendations will always be better than algorithms.

The new album bursts out of the gate with the one-two punch of “Animal” and lead single “Everything.” Follow-up single “In Your Face” is a midtempo rocker with a wallop of a chorus, while stylistic variations are all over this collection of 14 brand-new songs. “Watching The Storm Go By" is a '60s girl-group homage so spot-on it includes a spoken interlude worthy of The Shangri-Las, while the lounge vibes on the verses of "Flippy In My Red Dress" are balanced sweetly by the revved-up chorus. Album closer "Daisy's Song" is an affectionate ode to Kelly and Luis' now two-and-a-half-year-old daughter. “Their songwriting has reached a consistent level of greatness.” – says Wicked Cool founder Stevie Van ZandtThe Dollyrots’ songs have long been a staple in rotation on Little Steven’s Underground Garage, but the band’s recent work really perked up the ears of Underground Garage/Wicked Cool founder Stevie Van Zandt. The Third Men Podcast is proud to present an all-new exclusive extended interview with Detroit rock legend Ko Melina! Ko's rock'n'roll resume is a long and fabled list of major musical accomplishments, lending her incredible talents to some of the most influential acts of the last 20 years. Key contributions to groups such as The Come Ons and The Breakdowns put her classical training and high-energy abilities to the forefront, but it would be her tenure in Detroit rock institution The Dirtbombs that would cement her as a fixture of motor city music. An early supporter and friend of The White Stripes, Ko would also go down in Third Man history as photographer for the band's eponymous debut LP and a batch of their early singles. Following an appearance on Jack’s Sympathetic Sounds of Detroit compilation, Ko formed her own group called Ko & the Knockouts, whose debut LP presents a beautiful fusion of the hard-edged Cass Corridor and the sweet melodies of Motown in a crisp, well-produced package. Sirius XM listeners can find Ko every Saturday from 8am-noon EST as on-air personality for her own show on Little Steven's Underground Garage channel - which we highly recommend our listeners check out. We here at the Third Men podcast would like to thank Ko for joining us on our show for a truly unforgettable interview! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Throughout my time playing you tracks from Derry I've had some time to reflect on everything I have learned and shared with you. Before we leave Ireland, I have some very special music and words to leave you with. I’m going to break with our traditional format and let the award winning radio DJ Stephen McCauley take over. In the history of rock and roll radio there have been a few disc jockeys around which a music community has coalesced, Rodney Bingenheimer's Rodney on the Roq, and Little Steven's Underground Garage, to name two. These disc jockeys did more than just play records, they discovered and nurtured entire music scenes in their communities. This week's guest is a living legend. Steven Van Zandt is a renowned musician, actor & broadcaster most celebrated as Bruce Springsteen's guitarist and right hand man in the E Street Band, as well as for his role as Silvio Dante in The Sopranos. He's also a successful songwriter, arranger, producer and solo artist in his own right, and host of Little Steven's Underground Garage - a weekly syndicated radio show that champions garage rock from the 1950s to the present day. Unsurprisingly, he's an encyclopaedia of musical knowledge, and he takes Matt deep down the rock 'n' roll rabbit hole in this podcast.Follow Matt Stocks on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram: @mattstocksdjCheck out the Life In The Stocks Patreon page here: www.patreon.com/lifeinthestocks See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Amazing conversation with the always entertaining Jim Beaver, who talked current events, growing up in Texas unfocused, doing a load of theatre, and then the life changer... there were two... and a lot of stories. Jim speaks of his heroes, and why they are, and, the one who fell from grace for lack of grace. What it took to get "there," what he thinks it takes... precious takeaways applicable to pretty much everything ... read, study, never be the reason something goes south, never hold up the action (post-show he added, preparedness. Be ready.) We talked Deadwood, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Justified, Supernatural, Tom Hanks, John Wayne, Norman Jewison. What's next... a new play at Theatre West, a comedic western, The Night Forlorn, Or, Waitin' On Godsford. Coming in March. Spending time with Jim is always time well spent. There were shout-outs to Birthday Boy Rick Smolke, Ricky Byrd's new CD Clean Getaway, intended to help kids stay sober, with The Coolest Song of the week on Little Steven's Underground Garage. Bonus BROADcast! It's not every day I chat with a Marquis. An actual blueblood. Michael Des Barres reeks education and sophistication. He's also a Movie Star, a TV Star, a Rock Star, and currently, a DJ, on Little Steven's Underground Garage. A one-time junkie who married, perhaps the most celebrated groupie of our time, Michael's a sober, devoted, father, and ex. A true renaissance man, he speaks with authority on philosophy, art, music, film, theatre, celebrity, and Pinkberry. From To Sir with Love, NCIS, Nip/Tuck, Roseanne, Seinfeld, Northern Exposure, St. Elsewhere... signed by Jimmy Page, himself. replacing Robert Palmer to front Power Station, and at Live Aid no less, had a massive hit with Obsession, helped found Rock Against Drugs... the man is a glass all full, dynamo... gracious, charming, generous, intense. Our conversation began a tad challenging for me but very quickly evolved into one of the most thoughtful, fascinating, emotional, informative, delightful chats I've had to date. I was moved, entertained, and, schooled. Michael evoked laughter, tears, and left me motivated as hell to do more, be more, know more. Loved it. It was church. I recorded this show with the intention of banking it to use as needed... our weekly promise, already fulfilled. But I just couldn't sit on it. Michael's too damn good. And bad. In the good way. Recorded some weeks ago, I held on to this gem, not knowing why... until Saturday, when Chuck Berry passed. Old pal, Steve Conte, who's got one of the greatest rock voices of all time (he was Paul Simon's vocal stand-in for years) has played with just about everyone throughout his career, has a classic Berry story, which he shares here. Time has come today. Steve’s first road gig, was touring with Blood Sweat & Tears in the mid-80s, right around the time I began booking him on Bleecker Street in NY. From there Steve played with J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf, the beforementioned Chuck Berry, toured with Billy Squier, Willy Deville, Eric Burdon, was a member of reformed New York Dolls and has shared the stage with an innumerable number of his heroes from Sam Moore, to Springsteen. Steve’s been writing for, recording and touring with former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe for the past six years, supporting Guns & Roses, The Foo Fighters and Motorhead. Steve's solo debut, The Steve Conte NYC Album, included a tune, OK DJ, which earned him the #2 Coolest Song of the Year, behind Bruce Springsteen, on Little Steven's Underground Garage... members of the Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, Mott The Hoople, The Wallflowers, , Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, to name a few, joined Steve on the album. But, it’s Steve’s own "covers" album, International Cover-Up. currently enjoying much airplay on Little Steven's Underground Garage and the opening track, "Somebody's Gonna Get Their Head Kicked In Tonight" which was voted #5 Coolest Song Of The Year, behind The Monkees and Ian Hunter, which signals what will no doubt be the solo recognition he’s long deserved. Check it. Check him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJTHWDgHYgI It's thrilling to see this day come for one of my all-time favorite rockers. It's been a lotta years. So fun to sit down and catch up.
