GART is less than two weeks out and Ashe has a dedicated laundry basket for Deadwood outfits because Brian wants her to think about the weight of her suitcase. The ladies kick things off recapping UFC at the White House, the dripping with corporate sponsorships narrative swap the left tried after the taxpayer dollars argument fell apart, fighters walking out of the Oval Office down the Hall Of Presidents and giving glory to God, and Ashe's bicentennial memories of 1976 making the case that this is what the run up to 250 should feel like. Adriana takes the floor for a forty minute college lecture on the Salem witch trials, including the wildly underappreciated detail that it started with an illness, the catch 22 of confess and walk or deny and hang, ergot fungus on rye as a likely LSD precursor poisoning, and how the whole thing reads exactly like a 1692 mass formation psychosis. Christy closes out with saved by the bell, which has both a fun safety coffin origin (Victorian anxiety did not believe in doing anything halfway) and a boring boxing origin, plus the small detail that no safety coffin ever saved anyone. Photo challenge submissions, GART golf cart plans, and a battle of the sexes event teaser for next week.

HuntFishTravel Podcast with CarrieZ, a Hunting, Fishing, Archery, Bowhunting Podcast. - Hunt Fish Travel and The Wild World o

Originally Published: March 9, 2016 Every once in a while, I come across an old episode that deserves another listen. Back in March of 2016, shortly after attending the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers Cast & Blast in Deadwood, South Dakota, I sat down with world-record exhibition shooter Patrick Flanigan to talk turkey hunting, hunting property management, outdoor media, and the unforgettable adventures we shared in the Black Hills. That turkey hunt remains one of my favorite hunts to this day. The weather was unpredictable, the birds were stubborn, and while nobody tagged a turkey during our hunt, the memories made with Patrick and fellow outdoor writer Mike McGrew have lasted far longer than any harvest ever could. Listening back nearly ten years later, what struck me most was how relevant so much of this conversation still feels today. Patrick and I discussed authenticity in outdoor media, the growing influence of social media, hunting culture, mentorship, and the importance of staying true to yourself in an industry that was already beginning to change. I wanted to revisit this episode for a very special reason. On Wednesday, June 10, I'll be releasing Episode 260, where I sit down with Patrick again, almost ten years to the day after this original interview. In that conversation, we talk about his return to the outdoor industry, his renewed passion for hunting and shooting sports, and his upcoming 2026 Reloaded Tour. It's fascinating to hear where Patrick was in 2016 and compare it to where he is today. This episode serves as a snapshot in time and a reminder that while a lot can change in a decade, some things, like a passion for the outdoors and a good turkey hunting story, never really do. So before Episode 260 drops, I invite you to take a trip back to the Black Hills with us. In this episode, we discuss: • Turkey hunting in South Dakota's Black Hills • Hunting property management and trail camera strategies • Quality deer management practices • Outdoor media and authenticity in the hunting industry • Mentoring youth in the shooting sports • Women in the outdoor industry • The evolution of hunting television and outdoor content • Memories from the AGLOW Cast & Blast in Deadwood • Legendary turkey hunter Mike McGrew and the stories that still make us laugh today Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss Episode 260, where Patrick and I reconnect nearly a decade later to discuss his return to the outdoor industry and the launch of his 2026 Reloaded Tour.

The ladies open with coffee splash photo challenge fails, including Jackie's noble attempt at a witch's cauldron and Ashe's lone half melted ice cube while Christy's iPhone 17 Pro Max once again outclasses everyone. They tease the Freedom 250 GART in Deadwood, complete with red, white, and blue welcome dinner plans and a renewed hope that Zach Payne and only Lance actually grow mullets. Christy takes the professor's chair for the idiom hands down, which turns out to come from horse racing and not, sadly, a dramatic courtroom gesture, just in time for Napoleon Solo to win the Preakness in a suspicious bit of comms. Ashe walks through her in person visit with Tina Peters two days after Governor Polis granted clemency, unpacking what is actually going on with the weaponization of government, why this case was never about elections despite the headlines, what Tina actually misses (her 97 year old mother, a real steak, a salad with actual tomatoes), why she will not see her dog Minka until she is certain she is not leaving her again, and why people who say she did nothing wrong are missing the same point as people who call her a threat to democracy. Christy closes with how to swallow gel caps without choking and how to unlock a child safety cap forever.

Puffy has always been an annoying fraud. From there, the hosts pivot to planning Deadwood and whether they can sneak it into the America 250 celebration roster. The conversation takes a sharp turn into political territory as Zach defends his faith in Trump's long game against critics turning coat, touching on the deep state's grip, multigenerational thinking, the theological roots of short-term political strategy, and the historical erasure of Middle Eastern Christians. If that sounds like a lot, they also tried to launch a tampon company. Yes, really. Tune in for a ride that is equal parts chaos and clarity, with a healthy dash of beard oil.

Titus also reflects on working with and learning from the late cinematographer Haskell Wexler, and we discuss the relationship between actors, the camera, and the entire camera department. We later learn how Titus enforced good behaviour on the sets of BOSCH, and he reveals how the writers of the show would deal with anyone not preparing properly. One man is sick. Actually scratch that. One man is completely destroyed. Colton showed up to record this podcast after a week that included a Creed concert, a karaoke night, felling trees across his yard, and what he describes as looking, feeling, and sounding like hammer dog you-know-what. And yet here he is. A true hero of the craft. But before the sawdust flies, the crew does what they always do first and they talk food. Specifically sandwiches. Ross is heading to London and has a mission to personally visit the Sensational Sandwiches shop and hand deliver Beat Around the Bench stickers to the man himself. The debate over the greatest sandwich meat of all time gets heated. Colton goes Cajun turkey. Jess goes Reuben on marble rye pressed like a panini in a George Foreman. Ross drops the truth bomb that nobody asked for but everybody needed. Salami. Salami is the answer. Throw it on anything. It just works. Then the show pivots hard into the shop. Ross has a customer table in crisis and the breadboard ends are warping like a propeller because Chicago winters pull indoor humidity down to six percent and the wood is screaming for mercy. Jess and Colton walk him through his options. Cut it. Seal it. Rubio it. Ceramic coat it. Accept that wood moves because wood has always moved and wood will always move. This is woodworking. These are the stakes. Then things get really dangerous because Jess rolls out a 25 question lightning round trivia challenge and the rules are brutal. Eight seconds to answer. Five hundred BATB bucks if you are right. Minus five hundred if you are wrong. Questions fly faster than sawdust off a drum sander. Pine. Plumb bob. Dovetail. Bandsaw. Kiln dried. Ipe. The adze. And the final boss question that neither man could answer. The word is chatoyance. It is a French term for cat's eye and it describes that shimmering three dimensional figure you see in curly maple and sapele when the light hits it just right. Use it with your customers. They will never question your credibility again. The crew wraps it out with three heavy hitting nuggets. Jess swears by the framer rig suspender tool belt that changed his life on the jobsite. Colton puts the Woodworkers Companion app on the radar tipped off by patron Greg at Platte Valley Woodworks. It is free and does quoting, invoicing, wood movement calculations, and customer management all in one place. And Ross drops the truth about surviving slow seasons. Find the easy job. Clear coating guitars for an artist. Three hundred bucks. Done. Keep that tap running even when the big projects dry up.This is Beat Around the Bench. Episode 138. The Walking Deadwood. Crime fiction has rarely produced a protagonist quite like Kay Scarpetta. For decades, Patricia Cornwell's bestselling novels followed the brilliant forensic pathologist and medical examiner navigating grisly cases while balancing the messy emotional realities of family, love, and professional obsession. Now, the long-awaited adaptation has finally arrived in the form of Prime Video's new series “Scarpetta,” starring Nicole Kidman as the iconic medical examiner alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Ariana DeBose, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, and more. The show is shepherded by creator and showrunner Liz Sarnoff, whose writing résumé includes “Barry,” “Lost,” “Deadwood,” and “Marco Polo.” The series takes an ambitious approach to Cornwell's world by weaving together two timelines: one set in the late 1990s and another in the present day, allowing the story to explore both the early years of Scarpetta's career and the more seasoned version of the character audiences meet decades later.READ MORE: ‘DTF: St. Louis': Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, David Harbour, & Steve Conrad On Vulnerability, Sexual Secrets, & Jason Bateman's MCU Character [Bingeworthy Podcast]On this episode of The Playlist's Bingeworthy podcast, Sarnoff joins host Mike DeAngelo to talk about finally bringing the beloved character to the screen, why the show merges multiple books into a single narrative structure, how Kidman approached the technical realities of forensic work, and how the series distinguishes itself from typical procedural storytelling.

Two years after the success of Scream, Earl played "Warren", Cameron Diaz's mentally challenged brother, in There's Something About Mary. Gunslinging, gold-panning, stagecoach robbing, whiskey guzzling – the myth and infamy of the American West is synonymous with its most famous town: Deadwood, South Dakota. The storied mining town sprang up in early 1876 and came raining down in ashes only three years later, destined to become food for the imagination and a nostalgic landmark that now brings in more than two and a half million visitors each year. Once described as “the most diabolical town on earth,” Deadwood was not merely a place where outlaws lurked, like Tombstone or Dodge City, but was itself an outlaw enterprise, not part of any U.S. territory or subject to U.S. laws or governance. This gave rise to the Western outlaw behavior Deadwood is known for, but it also bred a self-reliance and a spirit of cooperation unique on the frontier, and made it an exceptionally welcoming place for Americans traditionally excluded from mainstream society. Today’s guest is Peter Cozzens, author of “Deadwood: Gold, Guns, and Greed in the American West. We look at the town’s complex story in full (including the stories of some of the most famous names of Deadwood — Calamity Jane, Hickok, Bullock, and Swearingen — who were made popular by David Milch’s HBO series). One frontier town came to embody the best and worst of the West—a relic of humanity’s eternal quest to create order from chaos, a greater good from individual greed, and security from violence.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It started as a birthday trip to Deadwood, South Dakota, a town famous for its ghosts, outlaws, and the notorious Bullock Hotel — where guests still swear they're not alone in their rooms. Two teenage friends checked in, ready for a spooky adventure. But before they even unpacked, the skeleton key turned endlessly in the lock, refusing to open until they knocked and announced themselves. That night, lights flickered, shadows moved across the walls, and the sound of children's footsteps ran past their door at 1 A.M. — even though no kids were staying in the hotel. Miles away, another couple had their own haunting. A young husband felt a sudden cold sadness in the back room of their new rental. When his wife's face went pale and she whispered, “He's right behind you,” he realized the house held a dark history — a suicide born of grief and loss, the kind that stains the air forever. And then, from rural Florida, came the call that changed the night: a hotel auditor who watched a massive winged shadow glide over his building before vanishing into the woods — a creature so large, he swore it couldn't be a bird. Three encounters. Three locations. One truth: when darkness calls your name, you never really know what's waiting to answer. #RealGhostStoriesOnline #TrueHaunting #HauntedHotel #BullockHotel #DeadwoodGhosts #Mothman #SuicideHouse #ShadowPeople #ParanormalStories #SupernaturalEncounters #Paranormal #RealGhostStory Love real ghost stories? Titus WelliverTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know actor Titus Welliver. In this episode, we chat about his growing up with a father who was very well know and well respected in the academic & artist community, and how that led to Titus meeting some of the most influential people on the planet. Then we talk about the new television series he is working on called The Westies (MGM+) alongside J.K. Simmons, and others. Then we discuss his playing the title character of Bosch for ten years on the Amazon series Bosch & Bosch: Legacy, as well as reprising that role in Amazon's Ballard. Titus loves this character so much, that when the creator & writer Michael Connelly asked him to read the audiobooks, he jumped at the opportunity. Titus still voices the audiobooks to this day. Along the way, we talk about why Titus decided to study with ALL of the great acting teachers & playwrights of New York, why he has so many tattoos, and of course, the CADS. Titus is the third member of the Character Actors Dinner Society to appear on the show. The CADS is a group of character actors in Los Angeles that occasionally, and in various configurations, have dinner and tell stories to each other; as friends often do. Titus is also part of The Funky Homo Sapiens; a New York based group of likeminded individuals who do roughly that same thing on the East Coast. This episode is a ton of fun, and I can't wait to have Titus on for round 2. Keep your eyes peeled for Titus' new series The Westies on MGM+ sometime in 2026.

We worked with Garret on NO COUNTRY and JESSE JAMES, and we had a wonderful time catching up with him. Garret shares how he made his way from rural Washington to the graduate program for acting at NYU, and we learn why he made the leap from theatre to film and television. While trading stories from NO COUNTRY, Garret shares a humorous episode involving himself, actor Tommy Lee Jones, the Coen brothers, and a bowl of wrapped candies, and we marvel at the Coens' ability to nudge actors into shooting their storyboards. In the latter half of our conversation, Garret recalls his experiences shooting the television series DEADWOOD, and we learn how those experiences set the tone for the rest of his career. Garret also reveals how showrunner David Milch wrote the show as they shot it, and we discuss the different strategies and approaches to coverage. Plus, we discuss dealing with imposter syndrome, and Garret reflects on the actor-in-a-supporting-role's tricky task of trying to find the vibe on a set at 2AM. - Recommended Viewing: NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES, DEADWOOD - This episode is sponsored by Aputure & Barco
