Whether you're talking about Sarah Palin or Sydney Andrews, one thing is sure, you're talking about chaos, flakiness, and feminine guiles.Unless it's sexist to say that, in which case delete that line. This week, we look at the soaring rhetoric of "I can see Russia from my house" and compare it to a speech written for Sydney Andrews about all the things she can se from her Director's Chair.
In 1972, Anson Williams landed the role of Potsie Weber in a segment of the comedy-anthology series Love, American Style titled "Love and the Happy Days", which also introduced Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard), Richie's mother Marion (Marion Ross), and other characters that were spun off into the television series Happy Days. (Only Williams, Howard, and Ross reprised their roles for the spin-off).The new series' first season, during which Williams received second billing after Howard, was centered mainly on Richie and Potsie. Eventually, as break-out character Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli (Henry Winkler) and Richie's mother, father, and sister became more popular, Potsie was joined by Ralph Malph (Don Most, who was merely a side character in season one), and Potsie and Ralph became inseparable.Unlike Howard and Most, Williams was one of the few to remain through the entire run of the series, although his appearances became less frequent in later seasons. In some episodes, Richie, Potsie, and Ralph formed a band combo that performed at Arnold's Drive-In and other places. As Potsie, Williams actually sang lead vocals for the group. Williams' first wife, Lorrie Mahaffey, portrayed Potsie's girlfriend, Jennifer, in later seasons. After Happy Days, Williams began a much more prolific career as a television director, starting with short programs for adolescent-age children, including afterschool specials "No Greater Gift" (1985) and "The Drug Knot" (1986), and TV-movie Lone Star Kid (1986). He played himself in a 1996 Happy Days-themed Boy Meets World episode (which also featured former castmates Tom Bosley and Pat Morita). While directing a 2003 episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch titled "Sabrina in Wonderland", he appeared as Potsie in a fantasy sequence. He also joined his fellow Happy Days cast members for reunion specials in 1992 and 2005.Williams is also a businessman. In 1987, fellow Happy Days cast member Al Molinaro and he opened a chain of diners called Big Al's; the business went defunct. He founded Starmaker Products, a cosmetics company, and was a featured speaker at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's National Trademark Expo in April 2008, at which he talked about the importance of registered trademarks for small businesses (and signed autographs for Happy Days fans). Williams is the author of Singing to a Bulldog: From Happy Days to Hollywood Director, and the Unlikely Mentor Who Got Me ThereABOUT THE PERFECT PORTION COOKBOOKAnson Williams is living proof that "Sixty is the New Sexy," and now he shares his own philosophy on fitness in "The Perfect Portion Cookbook," which was recently selected and scheduled by QVC to be launched on Super Bowl Sunday. A catastrophic condition in the USA, "The Perfect Portion Cookbook" is a major step toward solving the problem. In a world that has been so "millennial" focused in recent years and where "boomers" are being judged as old or not happening, Anson sets an example of how vital they can be by using the Perfect Portion Control system himself, which has resulted in a slimmer and more energetic outlook. With 150 of America's favorite comfort foods, "The Perfect Portion Cookbook" has everything from French Toast to Lasagna and Apple Turnovers, all with easy, perfect portion control, using a simple 100 Calorie Counting System. Daily Soap Opera Spoilers by Soap Dirt (GH, Y&R, B&B, and DOOL)
Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Bold and the Beautiful on CBS saw several shocking departures that sent shockwaves through the fan base. Hunter Tylo, who portrayed Dr. Taylor Hayes, exited the soap under controversial circumstances. She recently revealed some shocking tidbits about her own exit and that of Susan Flannery, who portrayed Stephanie Forrester. Tylo first left the show in 1996 after landing a role on Melrose Place but was fired due to her pregnancy. After a successful lawsuit, she returned to Bold and the Beautiful, only to leave again in 2002 and 2008 due to personal reasons. She finally walked away in 2013 due to creative differences, resulting in her character being recast with Krista Allen in 2021. Bold and the Beautiful saw that Allen, however, didn't find her tenure on the soap easy either, stating that the stressful production environment and personal attacks due to the Brooke-Taylor rivalry negatively impacted her health. She was ultimately replaced by Rebecca Budig. B&B saw Ron Moss, who portrayed Rich Forrester, also exited the show in a surprising turn of events. According to Moss, his decision to leave was influenced by signs from the universe, including a near-death experience and a stopped clock in his dressing room. His departure led to Thorsten Kaye stepping into the role of Ridge. Bold and the Beautiful saw Winsor Harmon's departure from his role as Thorne Forrester was equally shocking, as he was reportedly blindsided by the decision to recast his character. Finally, Jacob Young exited his role as Rick Forrester due to frustration with lack of screen time and consistency. This episode was hosted by Belynda Gates-Turner for Soap Dirt. Barack Obama united a nation with three simple words: Yes We Can.Rhonda Blair divided a dinner party with one simple action: bringing pasta and accidentally revealing Jane's attempted abortion. In this episode, we honor President Obama's call to hope and possibility, then pivot to Rhonda's call to never, ever boil water without understanding the consequences. It's not just a kitchen. It's a cautionary tale.Yes We Can… but should we have?
In 1851, Sojourner Truth delivered a soul-shaking speech demanding that women, especially Black women, be seen, heard, and honored. In Season 3 of Melrose Place, Alison Parker delivered a similar plea… when she skipped an entire week of work to cry about a voicemail from Billy. This episode explores the historic intersections of abolitionist feminism and workplace flakiness, culminating in a passionate monologue about blackouts, breakups, and being just barely employed.Ain't I a Creative Director?
Is this title Shakespearean dumb or just dumb? Either way, Jane is desperately seeking mommy, using a whole lot of insensitive terminology about whether Sydney is her "real" sister or how she can find her "real" mother. Teege tees up on this bullshit.Kimberly continues her weird separation game with Michael, for the benefit of Michael. As a reminder, she hired a prostitute to entertain Michael while she was in her sexless era, but then elevated the arrangement to marriage when she got a terminal diagnosis.Sam, Billy, and Craig are all up in this really weird love triangle, where we are to believe that Sam is offended that people think she's sleeping with Craig. Is that what the 90s were like? For the record, you can start a rumor that we are sleeping with Craig. Separately, of course, because we are classy ladies.Amanda, Peter, Kyle, and Taylor continue their skulldruggery. I get that they're trying to recycle the old tropes in new ways, but this added element of the long-dead sister-wife is weird, even for Melrose Place.
Shaun highlights two podcasts Still the Place and We are Knot Done Yet that feature actresses who starred in Melrose Place and Knots Landing respectively, reminiscing about the shows. But the styles of the two podcasts are in stark contrast with lessons for making a successful show.

He has entertained tens of millions of people over the course of four decades with iconic film and TV appearances, yet he remains humble and modest - He is Mystic Pizza, Falcon Crest and Perry Mason (to name a few!) actor, William R. Moses! His Mom, Marian McCargo and big brothers, Rick and Harry Moses were in the business and, although his step-dad, Congressman, Alphonso E. Bell did not entirely approve, Billy, a high school and college athlete found himself pulled towards acting. A typical Take-Your-Kid-To-Work day found young Billy on the set with Leonard Nimoy, Fess Parker and John Wayne! Or on Capitol Hill with Ted Kennedy, Gerry Ford and Bob Dole. Ample inspiration to dream big! Billy's resume includes the iconic prime time soaps Falcon Crest and Melrose Place, the role of Marc Christian, Rock Hudson's boyfriend, in a groundbreaking film about the legendary Hollywood and LGBTQ history figure, and he has the distinct honor of sharing his feature film debut, in the movie Choices, with fellow newby, Demi Moore! As attorney and P.I. Ken Malansky in NBC's Perry Mason TV film series, Billy worked closely with Raymond Burr and, as it turns out, our own Fritz Coleman who guest starred on an episode entitled, The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host. From a Mystery Cruise Ship with the Olsen twins to Perry Mason's Colorado courtroom, to the magical setting of Mystic, Connecticut, to his first Negroni on The Love Boat set with Eddie Albert to valiantly attempting to keep Viola Davis from Getting Away With Murder, Billy's stories provide a front row seat to the show biz of the glorious final few decades of the 20th century and journeying on into the aughts and beyond. In recommendations--Weezy: The Lost Passenger by Frances QuinnFritz: Mobland on Paramount+Path Points of Interest:William R. It's Miriam Shor, y'all! You Might Know Her From Younger, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Magic Hour, GCB, Shortbus, Swingtown, Maestro, American Fiction, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. Miriam gave us all the scoop on grounding the zaniness of Diana Trout on Darren Star's Younger, leading the indie comedy Magic Hour, and appearing in "brilliant but canceled" series like GCB and Swingtown. All that, plus Miriam talked to us about being one of John Cameron Mitchell's "players," appearing in Shortbus and, of course, originating the role of Yitzhak in the Hedwig universe; popping up in prestige Oscar films; her musical theatre roots; New York City history; and dying by way of a paintbrush in The Americans.
