We all get stuck eventually -- stuck in our jobs, creative projects, or lives. We may face obstacles of finance, emotion, time, or personality. Sometimes we do not even know the cause. Getting unstuck starts with actually knowing when you're stuck and then telling the truth about it. Often, we don't know what the next step could or should be. Even if we do know the next step, our willingness to take action may have just evaporated. We discuss our experiences being of being stuck -- its many flavors and textures, and how we moved beyond it...or did not!Michael Hateley:Lotus Mastering http://lotusmastering.com/Hello CrowHello Crow, Michael's new EP is available now! Actor Alec Baldwin has been charged with involuntary manslaughter by New Mexico prosecutors related to the death of in connection with the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. The shooting on set during production of the film, "Rust." Baldwin was allegedly four feet from the crew on set in a mock church pew, when he used his right hand to reach across his body to grab the gun holstered on his left side. He was reportedly aiming the gun toward cinematographer Halyna Hutchins when he drew back the hammer, and released it. The bullet first went through director Joel Souza's shoulder before striking Hutchins in the chest, killing her. Amorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed is also charged. Reed is facing criminal charges for allegedly loading the gun before handing it off to an assistant director, who then gave the gun to Baldwin before rehearsal. Reports indicate crew members used the gun on the day of the shooting for target practice — and had used live rounds to shoot at beer cans to pass time on set. This time at Unfolding Maps - not a climber, not a cyclist, not a desert photographer, but: Hollywood's most famous and beloved villain! Danny Trejo was shot, stabbed, decapitated, blown up, hanged, flattened by an elevator and lost his life in some even less appetizing ways that I'd rather leave unmentioned here. He's been the record holder as the world's most killed actor for years now - and he's steadily extending his lead. Danny has starred in over 400 films: blockbusters like Machete, Desperado, Heat, From Dusk till dawn, Con Air and Spy Kids, as well as countless B-movies and series like Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy and Modern Family. He has the status of a legend in Hollywood. He owns a chain of taco restaurants, his own beer and coffee brands, cafes and donut stores. In L.A., where he was born and lives, he is so popular that there is even an official Danny Trejo Day here. But those successes aren't why we have invited him to Unfolding Maps. Occasionally, we take the liberty of broadening our show's range of topics a bit by not just talking to people who have gotten to know the world through special journeys and expeditions, but to people whose LIFE journey is a very special one. And that definitely applies to Danny Trejo. Because he does not only PLAY the bad guy over and over again, but he WAS that bad guy: He spent his early years on a criminal career full of crime and drug addiction, and he served time in all of California's prisons for years. Eventually, he battled his demons, and upon his release, earned unexpected fame in Hollywood as a bad-boy actor with a heart of gold. Meanwhile, he has worked for decades not only as an actor but also as a drug counselor. In Los Angeles, he is as well known for his work in addiction and rehabilitation as he is for his acting. In the neighborhood of his childhood and youth, which he once terrorized with armed robberies and sheer violence, murals of his face now adorn the facades of entire buildings because people are so proud that he is one of them. It is the ultimate journey from gangster to movie star, a story about a man who changes himself and his destiny. Danny, who is now 78 years old, talks about all of this openly in his autobiography "Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood” – and in this episode of Unfolding Maps. Hosted on Acast. In recent years, directors Rian Johnson and Kenneth Branagh have revived the murder mystery format in a huge way with their respective franchises beginning with Knives Out and Murder on the Orient Express, respectively. We have discussed how much we all love murder mysteries on the podcast, but WHY do we love them so much? What is it about these puzzle games of murder that drive audiences back for repeat viewings, long after they have already deduced who the culprit is? We'll find out this week as our topic is what makes for a great murder mystery? Also on this week's show, we have spoiler-free reviews of Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Adams in Tim Burton's foray into television with Wednesday, plus Rian Johnson's return to the Knives Out franchise with Glass Onion. Furthermore, Quentin Tarantino has been getting a lot of press recently for his comments stating that Marvel actors are not movie stars, but is there truth in his statements? We discuss, and at the end of the podcast, revisit an earlier conversation we had on the end of the movie star era as a whole. Another week goes by and another director is slamming Marvel for killing the movie business as they know it. No matter where you stand on Quentin Tarantino, one thing is for sure; celebrity is changing. As 2022 draws to a close, Ione and Eden are reflecting on the year in celebrity, and movie stars in particular. We're discussing whether the rise of streaming will result in the return of the old studio system, with actors being contracted by production companies to star in multiple films for the same streamer. As well as whether the industry is really getting more inclusive, if we need to return to the cinema, and whether a monopoly on film, tv, and even publishing companies is killing creativity as we know it. They also take time to pay their respects to Jason David Frank and Irene Cara who we lost this past week and Jeannine even allows Morgan to briefly talk about the FIFA World Cup all before this week's "Let's Talk" and game are focussed around movies where people eat other people as they give their FULL REVIEW OF BONES AND ALL, Luca Guadagnino's new heavily emotional cannibal romance movie starring Taylor Russell, Timothee Chalamet & Mark Rylance and try to play some Six Degrees games linking cannibal movies together! Today on the show we have writer, producer, director, actor, and Filmtrepreneur Steven Luke. Steven and I discuss how he attaches bankable movie stars like Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Chuck Liddell, James Cromwell, Thomas Jane, Sam Worthington, Tom Berenger, Ron Perlman, and Billy Zane to his independent films. We also discuss his misadventures in film distribution, how he presells his films and if he actually makes any money with film distributors.Steven also has a Filmtrepreneur mind when it comes to his film productions. He has found his niche, war films. Understanding his niche market he uses the films he produces to advertise his company Man the Line. It is the internet's number one source of recreating war!Man the Line is a small South Dakota business offering original militaria and quality reproduction uniforms and headgear for collectors, reenactors, and film productions. By doing this Steven has created additional revenue streams for himself by using his films. This is the Filmtrepreneur way.His most recent works include "Souvenirs" starring Academy Award nominee James Cromwell and "The Deep End," for which he earned a Best Actor recognition at the 2011 Fischgaard Short Film Competition.Steven's work in the short film 'Paper People,' has also earned him the Best Actor in a Short film, for the 2012 Best Actors in a Film Festival. When not in front of the camera, Steven utilizes his skills as a historic military technical adviser and supplier for the motion picture and television industries.Enjoy my conversation with Steven Luke.

In episode 29 hosts Key (he/they) and Gray (he/him) discuss Harry's first film release of 2022 - Don't Worry Darling. They begin by touching on the news (2:05), which mostly consists of reflecting on Harry's stratospheric success in the summer and fall of this year. Then, Key and Gray start off the main discussion by summarizing the film and describing their viewing experiences (16:00). They give their non-spoiler review (21:17), at which point those who have not seen the movie may want to leave because it's about to get SPOILERY in here. In the spoiler review, Key and Gray go into greater detail about what worked and didn't work for them about Don't Worry Darling (including engaging in a little lighthearted nitpicking of the third act twist of the film- 42:53). They talk about some Harry-related film trivia (53:34) before diving into the themes of the film (1:03:00). Following this, the cohosts play a little game called “Categories” feat. questions like “Did Harry chew tf out of that bread?” (1:30:16) Then they talk about how this film was intended to mesh with and reflect on his career (1:43:00) and how it was actually received. Key and Gray wrap up the conversation by pondering the long-term impact of both Don't Worry Darling and the media furor surrounding the film (1:54:45). They end the show with a chat about some non-Harry things that have brought them joy recently (2:03:21). Today on the Rarified Heir Podcast encore edition, we are talking to James Coburn, son of, well James Coburn. We spoke with James during the Covid crisis and James was the perfect antidote. We learned about an array fascinating things the younger Coburn shared with us such as: being on the set of Peckinpah film, Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid in Mexico and In Like Flint in Jamaica, his dads love of cars (very fast cars), his good friend Bruce Lee, the Z Channel, a 4 year odyssey in Africa, the Muppets and much much more. Come to think of it, we need to get back with James to talk about the biography he and his wife were working on about his father when we recorded this episode. Maybe it's time for part two if our interview. But for now, take a listen to this interview recorded during the time Covid. Oh so long and not very long ago. You are listening to the Rarified Heir Podcast.

Frankie Avalon was one of the original teenage heartthrob idols of the 1960's/70's. The star of many films of the 60's like Beach Blanket Bingo and Beach Party, he is forever identified with his co-star Annette Funicello. Avalon is perhaps best known to a later generation for his role in the 1970s musical film Grease as Teen Angel, in which he sings "Beauty School Dropout" to Frenchy. He had 31 charting U.S. Billboard singles from 1958 to late 1962, including number one hits, "Venus" and "Why" in 1959. Little known was his lucky break in December 1952, when Avalon made his American network television debut playing the trumpet in the Honeymooners "Christmas Party" sketch on The Jackie Gleason Show. In his 80's, and looking 30 years younger, Avalon still performs in Vegas and elsewhere and credits his youthful looks and energy to a line of Health Products he sells that you can learn more about on his website www.frankieavalon.com.
