Having graced the decks on almost every continent, the Belfast born Greg Downey is no amateur when it comes to the art of DJing. Having impressed the promoter of Gategrasher while playing at an afterparty in Ibiza, Greg was asked to play at Space the following week. Very shortly afterwards, Greg broke through the UK trance scene playing at major shows such as Gatecrasher, Godskitchen, Slinky, Inside Out, Goodgreef, and Passion. What was every aspiring DJ's dream to travel the world soon became a reality for Greg. He was crisscrossing the globe flying from New York City to Sydney to Ibiza to Shanghai to Buenos Aires to London playing to massive crowds. Greg recorded his first “Live As album” on Discover from the mega Planet Love festival in Northern Ireland, which captured Greg's energy as a DJ and was featured as "Album of the Month" in Mixmag. Soon the prestigious BBC Radio One came calling and Greg appeared as a guest on Eddie Halliwell's radio show. It came as no surprise when Greg was voted into DJ Mag Top 100 poll coming in at number 82. This was a huge accomplishment for such a young talent. As Greg's DJing career was taking off, so were his productions. Catching the attention of John Digweed with his remix of “Heaven Scent”, Greg solidified himself as a producer when his remix claimed the number one spot on Beatport for over a month. His remix was championed by Sasha, Eric Prydz, Paul van Dyk, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren and John Digweed. Greg was then snapped up by Paul van Dyk for his label Vandit. His first release “Stadium” was a huge success which became Mixmag's Cream Ibiza anthem of 2008. Greg was also chosen by Paul van Dyk to remix his track “New York City” which appeared on his “Hands on In Between” album. Working tirelessly in the studio, Greg started to produce hit after hit. His track “Global Code” on Vandit was featured in every Paul Van Dyk's set for close to a year and his following single Show Time for Dutch heavy weights Spinnin was number 2 on Beatport. Having teamed up with the lead singer Paul Draper from Mansun in 2010 to remake their classic track “Wide Open Space”; it became the track of the year having crossed over to daytime Radio One with support from Scott Mills and Vernon Kay and was chosen by Mixmag as their tune of the month. This track was later snapped up by major label EMI for a full release. 2011 saw Greg up the game once again when his remix of Everything But The Girl – Missing was signed to Warner Music. Greg's mix was released alongside Fedde Legrand's and reached number 1 on Beatport and was number 1 on Australia's leading radio station Radio Metro. Greg had three more top ten hits with Spinnin records, Knight Moves , Game Face and Sunrise. Greg and Simon Patterson teamed up with English vocalist Bo Bruce to create the anthem “ Come To Me” , This was an instant Ibiza anthem at Amnesia and Space and across the globe. Wanting to explore the darker side of his sounds, Greg developed his R.I.C.O alias to bring out the deeper underground techno sound. As Greg explains, “I think it's good to try new things and to develop yourself in the studio, I love growing as an artist and developing” after receiving great feedback from fans and fellow DJs of the tracks released under the R.I.C.O alias. Game Face and Afraid Of The Dark have been firm favourites of Markus Schultz featuring on his Global DJ Broadcast show several times. Greg's diversity also saw him snapped up by Gareth Emery's Garuda for his debut release with Crazy For You in 2012. Let's find out.  Kate Bradley Chernis: Hey, you guys use that photo before on any podcast or any strategy  that you guys got that one first, that particular one tell you what it is by the way. So that little guitar, my, my husband is a guitar player and I don't know, it's some collection item, whatever, but he fixed it up for somebody. We had it. They loan each other guitars. That's what guys do, so we added on a loan and we got drunk one night. We were like, let's set up. He was a fashion photographer in the city for years. And assisted Jill bound, Simone and Patrick and like all these guys, right though, guys. And so he had all of his set paper and stuff like that. And we used to set it up the living room and then just do photo shoots, so we're like, let's get the guitar out and let's do jumps, and so we were doing those and we had gotten engaged about a month before and we thought this is 10 years ago. So before everyone was doing photo sets for their weddings or whatever, and we're like, Hey, let's do this for our wedding. And the people who own that guitar. Actually he came and picked it up, like randomly, they were like, Oh, we don't want to loan it to you anymore. We want it back. And so we took a picture of it beforehand, blew it up into almost life size and then built a two replicas so that our guests at our wedding could like dress up like us. We took this whole series of, yeah, look, there's a whole bunch of them. That's just one of them. And they all make me look like I play guitar, which I don't what he does. God is not into recycling. He does not take the worlds discarded and patch them up. He is strictly into make old things a new creation. The Apostle Paul wrote, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:17-18 NKJV). The whole concept of being born again (John 3:3-7) and the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit (Titus 3:3-7) is that you become a whole new species through the miraculous working of God. You were once a sinner, living by the passions of the flesh and the pleasures of the world. Your heart was filled with bigotry, envy, jealousy and bitterness. Through the miraculous work of new birth imparted by the power of God, you have become a saint. You are now living in true righteousness and holiness by the power, motivation, direction and discipline of the Holy Spirit. You are not just a sinner saved by grace because if you are a sinner you are not saved. If you are saved by grace you certainly are not a sinner. How to Live As a New Creation Once you were a sinner, but now, you are saved by grace. Once you were alien and not a part of the Kingdom of God, but now, you are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and adopted in the family of God. That same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead now lives in you and He has made you a son or a daughter of God; an heir and join-heir with Jesus Christ. You are blessed “…with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:3-6 NKJV). As a new creation, born of the Spirit, God means for you to experience abundant life. Jesus Christ said, “For I have come that they might have life and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Abundant living means living a life of wholeness or completeness. James wrote, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (James 1:2-4 NKJV). The Apostle explains to the church at Ephesus, “And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:11-13 NKJV). The “perfect man” or being made perfect does not mean someone without flaws. “Perfect” is the Greek word teleios meaning completeness, or wholeness. A born again child of God can live the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. It is His will for you to live a whole life spirit, soul, and body. As a new creation you can live in wholeness. 1. Wholeness in spirit is being born again by the Holy Spirit and receiving new life within you. It is living by a whole new life source because the Spirit of God is within you. You no longer have to live out past failures, old memories and victimization of past hurts and abuses. 2. Wholeness in soul means you have been cleansed the blood of Jesus and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit. You no longer live with your conscience and emotions defiled by bitterness, anger, resentment, insecurity, worry, anxiety, jealousy or inferiority. The fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, meekness and meekness are growing within you and fill your mind, will and emotions. 3. Wholeness physically is having the liberty to live free from the obligation to obey the carnal passions and desires of the flesh (Romans 8:11-12). You have the power of Jesus Christ’s death, burial and resurrection alive within you by the Holy Spirit. You do not have to let sin reign in our mortal bodies (Romans 6:1-14). It also means Jesus Christ purchased physical healing for us through the flogging of his back (Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24) “by His stripes we were healed.” Living as a new creation that Jesus Christ has purchased for you requires the renewing of the mind. The Apostle said, “And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, that you may prove what the good, acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:2). It is impossible to put off the image of the old person you have lived with all your life-time and to put on the image of the new person you are now in Jesus Christ and keep the old “stinkin’ thinkin’. The old thought patterns, attitudes, reasoning, opinions and ideologies will keep you inseparably linked to the old image and the old behavior patterns. You must choose to live by the image of the new creation you are in Jesus Christ and train your mind, will and emotions to live in conformity to the Word of God. It is a daily learning to walk in the freedom and power of a renewed mind. It is learning to live by the “law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus” and not by the “law of sin and death.” Every born again child of God has been delivered from slavery and entered into the life of the redeemed. The blood of Jesus Christ has paid the ransom price for your freedom (Greek word: "lutroo"Titus 2:14). The ransom Jesus paid has purchased you from slavery (Greek word "exagorazo" Galations 3:13; 4:5). When He brought you from the slave market to His home, He did not make you a slave in His household but an adopted son or daughter with the full privilege of inheritance. The seal of that adoption and the earnest of that inheritance is the Holy Spirit living within you. Child of God, live in the assurance of that adoption and identity. Walk in the freedom of that new life where there is no condemnation and no ties to the old life. You have been justified by the divine decree of Almighty God. Now you are just-is-if-you-have-never-sinned. All of the records of past sins, past failures and the former life have been destroyed, never to be remembered again. “But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, ‘This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days,’ says the LORD: ‘I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,’ then He adds, ‘Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more’” (Hebrews 10:15-17 NKJV).
