In this message from April 27th, 2025, Ben Mandrell talks about the troubles of an aging body and the future hope we have in Christ. Speaker: Ben Mandrell
Every year, children's pastors from across the country gather for the Children's Pastors Conference—a time to grow, connect, and be reminded of the incredible calling to reach the next generation. This year, our producer Nikki Ogden walked the halls with one question in mind: “What's the one thing you wish your senior pastor knew about your ministry?” The answers were honest, heartfelt, and deeply insightful. In this episode, we're joined by Ben Mandrell, president and CEO of LifeWay Christian Resources—and a former senior pastor himself—to explore that very question from the other side of the conversation. Ben offers a powerful perspective on how senior leaders can champion children's ministry in meaningful ways, showing up with presence, purpose, and passion. If you've ever longed for stronger support from your church leadership—or wondered how to build that bridge—this episode is for you.If this episode encouraged you or gave you a new perspective on the role of leadership in kids ministry, we'd love for you to take a moment to rate and review the podcast. Your feedback helps us reach more ministry leaders and make a greater impact. He asks soul-searching questions like, “Is it truly well with my soul?” and challenges listeners to consider whether their hearts are being shaped more by the pressures of ministry or the presence of God.This message is both a caution and an invitation—to be still, to evaluate, and to redirect if needed. On this special episode of the Ministry Wives Podcast, Christine hands the microphone over to Lynley and Ben Mandrell as special guest hosts. Christine and Kyle open up about a very vulnerable time in their life and marriage, the lessons God taught them, and the book that was born out of that season, “You Are Not Forgotten,” out April 23. QUOTES “I think the main thing I learned was that God really does see me, and that’s why I wrote this book. These truths are holding me now as we’re going through a whole different season of suffering. I have not doubted God in our current suffering because I know what He did for me when I felt so buried, He saw me and He pulled me out.” -Christine Hoover “One thing I learned in that time was that I often thought about ministry as outside of my home, meaning other people that are not in my family. I thought of my kids as part of my ministry, but I rarely thought about Kyle as my ministry, and we just did not carve out time for one another. But I look back now and I see that we were giving of ourselves to everyone else except for one another, and we had to carve out some extensive time to work through these things and to come back together. I would say we haven’t just come back together, but we have a new marriage and a healthier marriage, a happier marriage.” -Christine Hoover “I think in marriage, you can just keep going on cruise control. I think having times of dedicated work towards, what are those repeated conflict points that we have? What are the things that keep popping up? Who do we want to be as a married couple moving into the future? What are our blind spots? We need to be intentional with our time and energy to realize that our marriage needs that kind of attention as well.” -Kyle Hoover LINKS FROM THE SHOW You Are Not Forgotten CONNECT Connect with Lynley and Ben Lynley Instagram // Ben Instagram // Website // Podcast Connect with Christine Facebook // Instagram // Books Visit How to Thrive as a Pastor’s Wife to access Christine's resources for ministry wives like you! In this special edition of the Patriot Pastor's Podcast, we recap the events of #SBC23 in New Orleans. We talk about many of the low and some of the high moments that are commendable. We discuss: 1) The outcome of the SBC Presidential race between Mike Stone and the incumbent Bart Barber. 2) The president of Lifeway, Ben Mandrell, whose mind is set that Lifeway will continue to sell material that does not align with the Baptist Faith and Message. 3) Todd Unzicker's very divisive sermon that was preached where he pointed his finger at many outspoken conservatives. 4) The messenger's overwhelming support to disfellowship with three SBC churches, one being Rick Warren's Saddleback Church over women pastors. 5) Mike Law's amendment to the Baptist Faith and Message which beefs up the wording stating that only men can be pastors.

Today's episode of By Faith is a bit different, because it's actually an episode of a different podcast called The Glass House. The Glass House is a podcast hosted by Ben and Lynley Mandrell. Ben is the president of Lifeway, but before that he was a pastor at a church in Colorado. He and Lynley are prioritizing investing into pastors through this role at Lifeway, and to that end they've created The Glass House. Christine and her husband Kyle were guests on The Glass House in 2021. Christine talks with Ben and Lynley Mandrell as they reflect on their years in pastoral ministry. Ben is the president of Lifeway, but before that he and Lynley planted a church in Colorado and served at an established church. In other words, they know what it's like to be a pastor and a pastor's wife, but because they no longer are, Christine asked them to come on and talk about what, looking back, they'd do differently, what they'd do all over again, what they want people in the pews to understand about pastors and pastors' wives, and what they want pastors and pastors' wives to understand about people in the pews. As you can imagine, its' a very insightful conversation, and you'll also find out pretty quickly that it's a very honest and authentic conversation about the struggles and joys of pastoral ministry.
