POPULARITY
In this week's episode, we take a discerning look at shadow work and question the popular romanticized version of this powerful, and dangerous, practice. I frequently reference the book Eyes Wide Open by Mariana Caplan, PhD, which holds valuable insights into the many pitfalls of modern spiritual seeking, and is required reading in the Gnostic Celtic Church Monastery. Mariana Caplan, author of Eyes Wide Open and Julie Ann's guest on ConsciousSHIFT, reveals that safe travel requires a quality rarely taught, yet critically important, in today’s world: discernment.Mariana shares that cultivating this acute judgment and discrimination will help us to live a spiritual life with intelligence, clarity, and authenticity."The degree to which we are awake, conscious, and discerning in our experience and choices is the extent to which we can consciously participate in our soul’s unfolding. We evolve spiritually by cultivating discernment that is powerful enough to pierce through confusion on every level of our experience," Mariana explains.

Today we are going to explore discernment on the emotional level of your experience.Emotions underlie everything we do, even if we don't acknowledge them. But some people have a difficult time identifying their emotional state and others struggle with understanding the emotional undertones of their decision-making. Repeating the exercise frequently over an extended period of time will gradually deepen your capacity to digest your own emotions and reveal a deeper experience of their embodiment. This mediation is an adaption from Mariana Caplan from the article "Real spirituality." Enjoy ✨
