Today on Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we're hitting a hot topic: America jumping into the Israel-Iran war. And I'm just going to say it—I don't think we should've gotten involved. I've supported Donald Trump for years, but I think he got this wrong.Israel just said they didn't need us. This was their fight. Then suddenly, we're bombing a nuclear site and opening doors that didn't need to be opened. And of course, anyone who questions it gets labeled a “panican.” But guess what? The “panicans” are starting to look more and more like prophets, because now, sleeper cells are stirring, and American churches are already under attack. We don't need to be scared, we need to be wise. The Bible calls us to test the spirits, stay watchful, and seek peace when we can. (1 John 4:1, Romans 12:18). So let's talk about it honestly. Because loving your country (and even loving your favorite president) doesn't mean checking your discernment at the door and always being a yes-man.--https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee

Send us a textWe close out our “Eyes Wide Open” theme cycle with the 2009 Ti West film House of the Devil, in which a college student takes a babysitting job that turns into the night from hell. We also discuss all things babysitter: our childhood experiences with babysitters, whether any of us have been a babysitter, and some notable babysitters in movies. Karl also messes up Jack Quaid's name, and he DEFINITELY hasn't been embarrassed about it in the weeks that have followed the recording.
Send us a textWe have a special surprise this week; MRT VIP listener and very good friend Andrew is back with us as a guest host! And we have provided him with his own shake-up for the Eyes Wide Open theme; his pick had to be based on a book. And so he chose the 1985 gem, "Brewster's Millions" starring Richard Pryor and John Candy. This film's interesting premise requires the main character to spend $30 million in 30 days in order to inherit $300 million. However, there are some. . . restrictions. The film is based on a novel that's over a century old and has been made into a movie adaptation at least seven times. We also go through our own "Brewster's Millions" scenarios and of course, talk about how great 1980s films were. So join us, as we spend lavishly (and hypothetically.) And make sure you get a receipt!
Send us a textWe are continuing our “Eyes Wide Open” theme along with the restriction that our film needs to originate from a country we haven't been to yet on the podcast (cinematically speaking.) And so we travel to South Korea, to watch Park Chan Wook's 2003 revenge film, “Oldboy.”We also explore the concept of revenge, and identify films that feature this theme. And Karl and Rachael retell their own tales of vengeance. …So come join us for a podcast episode best served cold….
Fan Favorite: This episode originally aired on April 3, 2018. Isaac Lidsky has been a child actor, Supreme Court litigator, entrepreneur, best-selling author, and just happens to be blind. After losing his sight to a rare degenerative disease in his early years he learned the power of not just simply seeing the world for what it is, but mentally manifesting what you want it to be and executing. Isaac shares what lessons can be found in the unknown on this episode of Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu. SHOW NOTES: Isaac discusses how losing his sight helped him see the world in a new way. [3:38] Isaac talks about dealing with your inner critic. [16:08] Isaac explores his decision-making process during difficult moments. [23:15] Isaac details how he built his own reality despite obstacles and noise. [28:35] Isaac reveals the impact he wants to have on the world. [43:25] QUOTES: "The value in this Eyes Wide Open vision that I speak of is, it's not about science, it's not about blindness, it's about the lessons we can take in really taking control over the reality we want for ourselves. Literally choosing who you want to be and how you want to live your life in any moment." [10:50] "You can live a life of happenstance, of reaction, or you can take some time to figure out how you want to spend your time, who you want to be, who you want to be as a parent, who you want to be as a spouse, and on and on and on. You can try to be that person and you can try to live that life." [21:55] "Every moment of your life is a choice. How do you want to spend that moment? Who do you want to be? It is not the circumstances we confront that dictate the lives we experience." Send us a textAlright everyone, it's time for yet another theme and this time it's "Eyes Wide Open". This theme will deal with films where characters experience eye-opening moments, whether through shocking revelations or sudden enlightenment.Peeling back the eyelids first, with the shake-up of "must have a narrator" (pretty self explanatory) is The Usual Suspects, the 1995 action/drama/thriller/etc directed by Bryan Singer and starring Kevin Spacey, Benicio Del Toro, Stephen Baldwin, Gabriel Byrne, Chazz Palminteri and Kevin Pollak. We follow the tale of the sole survivor of a pier shoot-out who tells the story of how a notorious criminal influenced the events that began with five criminals meeting in a seemingly random police lineup.Of course in addition to our feature presentation we do a deep dive into daylight savings time, pick who would narrate our lives and Matt discusses his experience with invasive procedures.
Court Security During Murder Trials Safety Threats. In the world of law enforcement, ensuring safety in the courtroom during murder trials is a challenge that requires constant vigilance. Security threats are a real concern, and professionals like Bailiff David Lashley have firsthand experience handling high-profile cases while keeping their "Head On A Swivel." David is our guest on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast. The podcast episode is available for free on our website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify and most major podcast platforms. David Lashley, a Bailiff in Knox County, Ohio, was responsible for courtroom security and operations in what he described as a quiet part of the state. Despite its small population, the area saw more than its fair share of murder trials, placing a significant burden on law enforcement officials. Over the years, Lashley encountered numerous cases that tested the limits of security procedures, including a particularly demanding mass murder trial that took a toll on him and many others involved. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms The Reality of Court Security During Murder Trials Safety Threats One such case that left a lasting impact was the mass murder trial stemming from a gruesome crime in November 2010. A criminal, after camping in the woods, attempted to burglarize a home but was surprised by its occupants. In a horrifying sequence of events, he murdered three people, kidnapped a young girl, and hid the bodies in a hollow tree. The ensuing investigation, arrest, and trial were complex and emotionally taxing for all involved. Look for supporting stories about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium, Newsbreak and Blogspot. Threats and Challenges in High-Profile Trials Managing security during a murder trial requires meticulous planning. Lashley detailed the intense pressure of handling such cases, from dealing with graphic testimony to ensuring the safety of everyone in the courtroom. Protecting victims' privacy, managing emotional outbursts, and mitigating potential threats from the public or even the defendants themselves made these cases particularly difficult. Surprisingly, Lashley revealed that less violent cases, such as those involving domestic disputes, often provoked stronger emotional reactions and violent outbursts compared to even the most heinous murder trials. This unpredictability underscores the need for thorough training and constant situational awareness. Follow the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms The Role of Training and Awareness In Court Security During Murder Trials Safety Threats. Situational awareness is a cornerstone of courtroom security. Bailiffs, officers, and security professionals must be prepared for any scenario. Drawing from over two decades of experience, Lashley emphasized the importance of de-escalation techniques, assertive communication, and quick decision-making in high-stakes situations. His insights are featured in the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show, available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other major platforms. His book, Eyes Wide Open, delves deeper into the principles of situational awareness and security training, offering practical advice for professionals and civilians alike. The interview is available as a free podcast on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and podcast website, also available on platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and most major podcast outlets. Social Media, News, and Spreading Awareness Courtroom security is a topic that needs greater public attention. Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter) play a crucial role in spreading awareness about safety measures, threats, and real-life experiences from professionals like Lashley. Law enforcement agencies and legal professionals must continue to use these platforms to educate and inform the public about security protocols during trials. Court Security During Murder Trials Safety Threats. Check out the show on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Newsbreak, Medium and most all social media platforms Conclusion Ensuring security during murder trials is a complex task that requires vigilance, training, and adaptability. Professionals like David Lashley demonstrate the importance of staying prepared, maintaining situational awareness, and continuously refining safety measures. As threats evolve, so must our strategies, ensuring that justice can be served without compromising safety. The Bible is most aware of the problem of anxiety vortexes. But whereas too many believers today get sucked into those vortices the Bible counsels sober-mindedness. In this episode we unpack just what is sober-mindedness and offer some steps for how to achieve emotional sobriety. If you've ever watched professional golf you'll have realized that the pros intentionally seek to remain calm, sober-minded. Why is that? In the NFL Patrick Mahomes is a superb example of sober-mindedness, if not also athletic excellence. Let's examine some biblical cues so we can move toward emotional health. In the episode's cultural reflection I unpack further how unprecedented are the Trump administration's efforts to assess and trim the Federal bureaucracy. America's founders, when they established the grounds for our nation, never foresaw the explosive and unconstrained growth of what has become the fourth branch of government: the bureaucracy. Come laugh and think with me.

Busyness has become something our culture celebrates. It's become a badge of honor to overwork, get little sleep, and do "too" many things in life. Try telling someone you're not busy in 2025, they'll probably look at you like you're an alien. But how much of life do we truly miss when we are simply running through it? How often do we miss God, miss people, and miss miracle moments because we just did not see them? Most of the time we're not even looking. But what does it look like to begin to walk, not run, through life looking for his kingdom all around us? How do we go from seeing life in 3D to 4D, to being present physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually? Peter in Acts 3 shows us how to practically walk through life with eyes that are actually looking for God to move in our world. Breathe Pictures Photography Podcast: Documentaries and Interviews
After enduring four years of dialysis and declining health, my guest, photographer Tracey Halladay had come to terms with the possibility of not experiencing all that life had to offer. However, a life-saving kidney transplant granted her a second chance. During her recovery, Tracey noticed a shift in her perception of the world. She felt compelled to share her newfound understanding and appreciation as she explored the mountains, forests, and meadows of Canada. Through her photography, Tracey aims to encourage mindfulness, curiosity, and compassion towards ourselves, others, the Earth, and all its creatures. From the mailbag today, Ewan McNeill shares why Glass is his creative social platform of choice over Instagram, Kelvin Brown invites Flickr users to join a new group celebrating the Photowalk's assignments, Tracey Ainsley has checked into a lighthouse keeper's cottage, Chris Smith asks you to think about what your THIS IS ME image might be, Xavier Shaver has a poem from the path, and Mark Christensen is taking the Famous not so Famous flask on tour in California. Links to all guests and features will be on the showpage, my sincere thanks to MPB who sponsor this show and the Extra Milers without whom we wouldn't be walking each week. In this powerful episode, my co-host Laura Louise Green (Founder, Healthy Pour ) and I sit down with Nick Thompson, former Love Is Blind cast member, Mental Health Advocate and Co-Founder of U-CAN Foundation to pull back the curtain on the untold realities of reality TV and the humans behind the screen. Nick opens up about the mental health struggles faced by cast members, the lack of workplace protections in the entertainment industry, lack of support and after-care with re-integration, and the exploitation that can occur behind the scenes. We explore how reality TV intersects with workers' rights and discuss what meaningful reform could look like to better protect participants. Nick shares his personal experiences and advocates for change in an industry often shrouded in glamor but rife with systemic issues. Tune in for an eye-opening conversation about the human cost of "unscripted" entertainment and the urgent need for accountability in the industry. This is a must-listen for advocates for workers' rights, and anyone curious about the intersection of entertainment and ethics. Mary chats with teacher, author and prophecy expert Lee Brainard about his deep studies into the Rapture. Lee has some great insights in his book, "Ten Potent Proofs for the Pre-Trib Rapture" and it's all in one short volume. A great resource for those who may be confused by the genuine disdain that the church at large has developed for this viewpoint of late. And what about the incredible way the US has turned a corner on normality with the outcome of November's election? How does that affect the time table for the rapture? After all, the globalists have been in the red zone for a while, now a nationalist has intercepted and is heading things a different direction. Does it matter? Imminency is key of course. Learn more about Israel, dispensationalism, and the rapture with answers for those who oppose the clear teaching of Scripture on this matter. An hour to challenge us all.
