When you look in the mirror, what's the first story you tell yourself about your body? If you're like most midlife women, that internal dialogue is often rooted in criticism, comparison, and the relentless pressure to "fix" an aging body that was never broken in the first place. In this episode of Pleasure in the Pause, host Gabriella Espinosa sits down with registered dietitian and body image coach Deb Benfield to explore how internalized ageism and diet culture keep us disconnected from our bodies—and what it takes to reclaim body trust, pleasure, and freedom in midlife and beyond.Deb Benfield, M.Ed., RDN, LDN, RYT, is a Registered Dietitian, nutrition therapist, and body image coach with 40 years of experience helping people heal their relationship with food, movement, and their bodies. Her work sits at the intersection of anti-ageism, body liberation, and trauma-informed care—offering a radically compassionate alternative to diet and wellness culture, especially for those in midlife and beyond. After turning 60, Deb began questioning the dominant narratives around aging, vitality, and beauty, and quickly realized how many resources still centered weight loss and youthful appearance as ultimate goals. In response, she created what she couldn't find: a framework for nourishing the body that honors inner wisdom, prioritizes vitality, and embraces the full spectrum of aging. She's the author of Unapologetic Aging: How to Mend and Nourish Your Relationship with Your Body, and she offers individual and group coaching to help her clients age unapologetically—on their own terms.Highlights from our discussion include:Understanding Your Body StoryYour Body Is Your Life Partner, Not Your Life's ProjectInternalized Ageism Keeps You StuckDiet Culture Fuels Hypervigilance, Not HealthRebuilding Body Trust Through EmbodimentRedefining Intimacy and Pleasure in MidlifeGLP-1 Medications: A Complex DecisionPermission to Stop ApologizingWhat if you stopped treating your body like a problem to solve and started honoring it as the life partner it's always been? This episode is an invitation home—to your body, your pleasure, and your power. Everyone talks about diagnosis and treatment. Very few talk about the years after. In part two of our conversation with oncology yoga guide Jill Krause, we explore the hidden world of survivorship and the long term side effects that continue long after treatment ends.Jill begins by breaking down the complexities of yoga for cancer. Different cancers, surgeries, treatments and symptoms require nuanced understanding, compassion and a willingness to meet each student as an individual.Jill also shares her philosophy of advocacy, intimacy and embodiment: how knowing your body, speaking up and finding community become essential parts of healing. She leaves us with a powerful reminder that every person carries a universe within them, and that leading with compassion is the most meaningful work any of us can do.About JillJill Krause, a certified 500-RYT, founder and owner of YOUniversal LOVE, an oncology yoga and coaching company was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 38 and was actively treated for 2.5 years. YOUniversalLOVE was created to fill a void she felt after being discharged from active treatment with no guidance, resources or answers to any of her questions regarding survivorship. Even though she was discharged with early onset menopause, osteoporosis, pain, decreased range of motion from 8 surgeries, and 25lbs of steroid weight, she was given no recommendations or referrals for any healing therapies. As time passed, she kept being confronted with the realization that her needs were not being met and her side effects were going to be long term. She desperately wanted to be an active participant in her healing but was scared of doing it alone with no guidance. She realized that the current survivorship care lacked the understanding that chemotherapy, ovarian suppression, estrogen blockers, and surgeries have on the health and well-being of those affected by cancer. YOUniversalLOVE grew as her purpose shifted from beating cancer to learning how to manage and heal her long-term side effects so she could empower others to become active participants in their healing in order for them to reconnect, reclaim, and redefine their lives. jill@youniversallove.comwww.youniversallove.comAbout Alba Yoga AcademyLearn more with Alba Yoga AcademyLearn more about our Yoga Teacher Training here.Watch our extensive library of YouTube videos.Follow Hannah on Instagram.Follow Celest on Instagram

In this episode of The Digital Executive, host Brian Thomas welcomes serial entrepreneur and architect Jeff Mahony, founder of RYT, a purpose-built Layer-1 blockchain engineered for institutional-grade speed, security, and compliance. Jeff shares insights from founding and investing in over 30 companies across fintech, digital identity, and decentralized systems—and explains why most emerging tech fails when it tries to change user behavior or solve future problems instead of today's.Jeff breaks down why existing blockchains fall short for real-world utility, from slow finality and massive hardware demands to insufficient security and lack of regulatory readiness. He explains how RYT's Proof of Majority consensus, true parallel execution, and native zero-knowledge support enable high throughput without compromising trust. Looking ahead, Jeff discusses how compliant blockchain infrastructure will evolve—from national-scale deployments to cross-border regulation and true interoperability across chains. If you liked what you heard today, please leave us a review - Apple or Spotify. As we head into the darker, slower months of the year, our nervous systems start whispering for rest but the world around us rarely slows down. Between work, family, and holiday expectations, many of us end the year overstimulated, undernourished, and running on empty. That's where Ayurveda offers such profound wisdom. Ayurveda reminds us that true calm isn't something we achieve by doing more it's something we cultivate by tending to our inner fire, our agni, and finding balance among the doshas that govern our body, mind, and spirit. In episode 223, Coffey talks with Mike Lyons about why hiring for character and behavior often predicts success better than relying on experience or technical skills. They discuss how HR leaders can define and hire for the right character traits by first understanding business strategy (for example, Walmart vs. Nordstrom models); aligning hiring with authentic, observable core values; identifying the specific attitudes and behaviors that make top performers successful in each role; using structured behavioral interviews to identify values; conducting reference checks as investigative conversations rather than formalities; designing realistic job previews to reduce turnover; and maintaining objectivity by keeping character assessments job-related and bias-free.You can access Mike's free library of free downloads to elevate your healthcare clinic from merely OK to excellent here: https://www.seasoned-advice.com/signup-for-free-downloadsGood Morning, HR is brought to you by Imperative—Bulletproof Background Checks. If you've ever looked at your kid mid-meltdown and thought, “Why am I reacting like this? I know better”—you're not alone. There's a gap between what we know and how we show up in the heat of parenting. And the bridge across that gap? Practiced, embodied mindfulness—not perfection or more willpower. In this episode, I'm joined by Hunter Clarke-Fields, MSAE, RYT—international bestselling author of Raising Good Humans, creator of the Mindful Parenting course & teacher training, and host of the Mindful Mama podcast. A former “parenting yeller” turned mindfulness teacher with 20+ years of practice, Hunter has been featured on CNBC, NBC, FOX, HuffPost, Tiny Buddha, MOPS, and more. Her mission: help caregivers and kids live more mindfully and compassionately—without shame, rigidity, or 2-hour morning routines. We're diving into: ✔️ Mindfulness 101: what it really is (and how to practice it in 1–5 minutes, not just 20) ✔️ The neuroscience: shrinking amygdala reactivity, strengthening your prefrontal cortex (hello impulse control + clarity) ✔️ How to close the “I know better” → “I do better” gap with tiny, repeatable reps (not more information) ✔️ Practical tools to grow the pause before you snap—so you can respond instead of reactIf you've been trying to “think your way” to calmer parenting while your nervous system is sprinting the other direction, this one's for you.
