In this episode, journalist, technologist and entrepreneur Marshall Kirkpatrick joins hosts Brett and Brian to discuss the way AI might change our lives, thinking and philosophy as a species. Marshall dives deep into the way we are learning to integrate AI into our conscious processes, and where it might be useful, and where it might be contentious. In the midst of arguments about the safety of AI and the role it will play in our society, this is a fascinating debate on how your personal AI might change your world. Marshall Kirkpatrick was the first writer hired by the TechCrunch and helped drive its early growth through the quality of his work, then moved to become Co-Editor of ReadWriteWeb, then one of the defining publications on the Internet economy. He left to found Little Bird, which uses network analysis to discover top influencers, experts, and insights. Little Bird was acquired in 2016. Marshall continues his work to improve the information ecosystem and develop better information systems.
Ever wonder what's going through the mind of a CMO? The issues they're thinking about, and the problems keeping them up at night? Resident expert Marshall Kirkpatrick wondered too. So he fired up a few of his research tools (including Sprinklr, of course) and spent some time scouring the Internet to learn what CMOs are reading, and what they're posting about. It's an insightful glimpse into the key trends in marketing today.
In part 2 of my conversation with influencer relations expert, Marshall Kirkpatrick, we answer the pivotal question, “why do I even need an influencer marketing program?” Then we move on to the third — and most important — stage of building your influencer relations program: collaboration. Finally, it's a brief detour to discover what we can all learn from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Marshall Kirkpatrick is a social data innovator, and VP of Market Research at Sprinklr. Follow him on Twitter.
Authentic, genuine relationships between brands and influencers can benefit everyone involved. The brand learns about the market, and the market learns about the brand. Win, win. In today's episode I talk with influencer relations expert Marshall Kirkpatrick about the three stages of building an influencer relations program. Marshall is the VP Marketing at Sprinklr, the world's leading customer experience management platform. Prior to this, he was a news-breaking journalist and startup founder. Explore what a deep dive into social media can teach us about the state of disruption today, how to best leverage these tools to stay on top of innovation and disruption, and how to fine-tune your ability to listen to “the thin wisps of tomorrow.”
Part 2 of our special Coffee Club crossover edition. Marshall Kirkpatrick and I talk about the importance of eating your own dog food (or, drinking your own champagne, as we like to call it), and offer some strategies for accelerating your digital transformation efforts.
In part 1 of this special crossover edition, I join Marshall Kirkpatrick on the Sprinklr Coffee Club videocast where we look at Digital Transformation. Digital transformation is so much more than digitizing documents. It's a fundamental shift in the way we treat current and future customers. And who better to lead the charge than the individual who has their pulse on the customer? That's right -- the modern CMO.

Mary and PJ recap the conversation they had with Marshall Kirkpatrick and Rachel Happe in Episode 35 and continue to chat about the difference between popularity and influence. As DevRel professionals continue to gain influence in various fields, it's important that we have conversations around the expectations for those influencers: Should they be held to a higher standard? Is it fair to do so? We also talk about how to elevate other folks who may be new to the industry or have a smaller platform but have good insights to share.

This week, Travis and Stewart get to talk with Marshall Kirkpatrick, cofounder of Little Bird, about influencer marketing. In fact, the three of us are so excited to be talking with each other that we almost explode -- not literally, of course. We also talk about Marshall's Magic Search Engine, which is an amazing resource everyone can use. And in the news this week, we talk about the headlines coming out of AdWeek New York, including Facebook's inability to count and why content quality trumps views.
In which Marshall discusses the marketplace gaps that are bugging him the most these days and what he’d like us to do to close them: Middling Content: “Good enough is not good enough.” Serious practitioners don’t have time for social. “Not true,” says Marshall. Perception that the best Influencer Marketing is pay for play. “Such a disservice.” All links in the podcast can be found at maureenblandford.com/marshallkirkpatrick

Marshall Kirkpatrick of ReadWriteWeb explored both sides of the increasingly popular business activity of monitoring social media. He wrote: "It's kind of a modern day horror story, isn't it? Web 2.0's potential benefit for humanity tragically sold short by social media because it fell under a fog of marketing software. Would-be short-form conversationalists jumping in with CRM-tinted glasses secured to their faces. One of my co-workers says that within minutes of his wife Tweeting about her art studio last night, she was friended by scads of art companies and salespeople. Who wants to have a conversation in that context? Or maybe it's just a matter of changing our expectations. Maybe this is all good; the new customer service - a lot like the old customer service, but in your blog comments and replies tab."In our April FIR Live episode, we'll talk with CustomScoop CEO Chip Griffin and a senior representative of the new social media monitoring service Spiral 16 for their takes on the issue. And we'll take your calls.
