04 Numbers 14-15; 20 Proverbs 6; 43 John 8
In our current day and age, we are surrounded by negativity. Everywhere we go, we feel the weight of complaining and dissatisfaction. We are all constantly striving for more money, more likes on social media, more "perfection" in our lives, yet it only leads us to feeling more empty than before. As we look at the Israelite's journey through the wilderness, we see that they went through many of the same struggles, focusing on their current hardships instead of the Promises of God. Let us see how God is calling us to turn our hearts from our worldly struggles to the eternal treasures that He has promised. By Shelby Crosswhite

Now What? Week 2 | Grief in Transition Have you ever stood at the edge of something new and felt the pull to go back to what was familiar? Three thousand years ago, the people of Israel stood at the border of everything God had promised them. They had witnessed miracles. They had seen God show up in the most extraordinary ways. And yet, when the future felt uncertain and the giants looked too big, they wept, panicked, and begged to go back to Egypt. Back to the place God had already delivered them from. This is a message for anyone who has ever loved something deeply, lost something real, or found themselves standing at the edge of a new chapter wondering if God really knows what He is doing.

What happens when we stop trusting God and start leaning on our own understanding? Israel's rebellion in the wilderness reminds us that unbelief does not leave us neutral—it shapes our decisions, impacts our future, and can even affect those who come behind us. Whether you are struggling with doubt, carrying the weight of past failures, or longing to lead your family in faith, this message points back to the hope, correction, and grace found in God's Word.

Numbers 13-14 // Jonathan NeefIn this teaching on Numbers 13-14, we analyze the mission of the twelve spies and the two very different reports they brought back. While ten spies focused on the strength of the walled cities and the size of the inhabitants, Joshua and Caleb looked at the power of the one who promised them victory. The sermon examines the consequences of the people's rebellion—their desire to return to Egypt and the subsequent judgment that led to forty years of wandering. We discuss how fear can blind us to his provision and how trust in his word is the only way to move forward into the "land flowing with milk and honey."SERMON NOTES (YouVersion): https://bible.com/events/PRAYER REQUESTS: https://ccefc.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/2542/responses/new26.03.15

On our last episode, God sent spies into the land of Canaan, the land He promised to give them, but when they saw their foes, they brought back a negative report, and refused to venture onward. Today, God resolves to wipe them out for their rebellion, but Moses intercedes for the people, pleading with God to act with faithful and steadfast love. Instead, God resolves to keep their generation out of the land, promising that their children would inherit it instead. Later, a man named Korah incites a rebellion against Moses, questioning his authority. Armed with the conclusion that the entire community of Israel is holy, he contends that Moses and Aaron have no right to go before the Lord exclusively. Korah and 250 men appear before the Lord, and what happens next is unprecedented. Numbers 14 - 1:14 . Numbers 15 - 9:30 . Numbers 16 - 16:26 . "How long will this people despise me? And how long will they not believe in me, in spite of all the signs that I have done among them?" The people weep all night, wish they had died in Egypt, and even talk of choosing a new leader to take them back. God's wrath burns hot, and only Moses' intercession spares them from immediate destruction. Yet the sentence is severe: forty years in the wilderness, one year for each day the spies explored. In this chapter, we see the terrible cost of unbelief and the mercy that preserves even a rebellious people. The Rev. Steven Theiss, pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, MO, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Numbers 14. The Book of Numbers is far more than an ancient census report. It is the story of a people learning to trust God in the wilderness, and failing, and finding grace anyway. In this series, host Pastor Phil Booe and guest pastors walk through the Old Testament book of Numbers chapter by chapter. We follow Israel from Sinai toward the Promised Land, through grumbling and rebellion, fiery serpents and a talking donkey, faithless spies and faithful priests. The journey is hard, the failures are many, and God remains faithful to a faithless people. These ancient accounts point us to Christ. The bronze serpent lifted on a pole points to the cross. The rock struck for water points to the one struck for us. The high priest whose death frees the manslayer points to the Great High Priest whose death sets us free forever. Join us as we discover that the wilderness has more to teach us than we ever expected. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. Yesterday, I left you with Moses… waiting. Do you remember what Moses was waiting for?Moses had sent 12 trusted leaders of the Israelite people as scouts into the land they believed God had led them to. Now they waited while these 12 men spent 40 days scouting out the land. Upon their return, their report shocked Moses and the people. While yes, the land was beautiful and inviting, the scouts reported that the people living there “are powerful and the cities are fortified and very large…” (Numbers 13:28) (Click here to see full text, images and links) Pastor Doug Anderson “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, with our eyes fixed on Jesus…” (Heb. 12:1,2)Have a comment or question about today's chapter?
